About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Pete C0 contributionsAbsolutely Brilliant !Wow what a absolutely fantastic experience . Ukka picked us up from the hotel where they store all your luggage (just take a few basic essentials with you on the trip ) On the way to the desert camp Ukka takes you to one of the desert ghost towns and to a temple . After that it's time for the camel ride , they looked really well cared for and it's up to you how far you go on them....about 25 minutes was enough for us. When you reach your home for the night you will be amazed by the view and the beauty of nature . You are looked after the whole time and the Food that Ukka's colleague cooked for us on a campfire was so tasty . When night falls and the sky comes alight with the stars you will not be able to stop looking at them , I think we were awake most of the night laying on our pretty comfortable desert bed just looking at the beauty above us. It was just the two of us, The guide, and 2 camels so absolutely non touristy . We loved this trip ,one of the highlights of our trip around Rajasthan . I won't spoil it but if you do go please get Ukka to sing country road...you will have a blast I promise you . Thank you Ukka and Dell for such a great day and for memories we will never forget .Written 5 March 2025
- Guide456921969260 contributionsBeautiful view, happy experience, friendly guide and fun timeGuide ukka was very nice and fun. The moments with ukka were always fun, there were many good experiences to eat together, the stars in the sky were so beautiful, and the songs ukka and his friends sang made me even happier😀😃Written 28 February 2025
- JBhoosier0 contributionsBest experience in RajasthanWe went on a 2 night jeep Safari led by Ukka. Wow. Do not pass this up. The desert is open and peaceful with spectacular sunset and sunrise and sleeping in a cozy cot under the stars is magical. Delicious food over an open fire and morning chai delivered to our beds. Because we had 2 nights we were able to visit a family’s home in a tiny desert village. Ukka identified animal tracks -foxes, desert deer, birds- took us to meet some shepherds. We listened to desert music on the jeep ride. Really the highlight of our month in Rajasthan! We were so lucky to have Ukka as our guide.Written 16 February 2025
- JennyJeanJohnson20220 contributionsAn exceptional desert experience with a very special guideOur group of three women went on the Pleasant Haveli non-touristic overnight safari in February 2024. Our driver and local guide, Ukka, was so sweet, attentive, kind, funny we all fell in love with him. He and his colleagues made us the most delicious food over an open fire. Sleeping under the stars in soft cozy cot beds with many blankets and waking up to fresh chai and hot breakfast was a magical experience. We were sad that our time in the desert was so short, and vowed to return again for a longer time. This year, in February 2025 we returned and reserved a 2-night safari with Ukka. We camped in two different desert sites and during the daytime visited a couple different desert villages where we enjoyed playing with local children and drinking delicious cups of chai. We also spent time with a shepherd and his flock of adorable baby lambs. The time went too fast again! Next year we will return for an even longer desert safari. We heartily recommend the Pleasant Haveli desert safari. Ukka is just the BEST host and guide. We left a little bit of our heart in Jaisalmer with him.Written 16 February 2025
- moomini0 contributionsBreakfastGreat experience would highly recommend. Guide so friendly and knowledgeable. Added excursion after breakfast. Wrap up warm!Written 7 February 2025
- Rebecca97402816374050 contributionsBest experience everThis might be one of the coolest things I have ever done! The sunset was amazing and camping in the desert under the stars was epic, you could see so many planets and stars. The guides were very friendly, the food was nice. You are completely out in the wilderness, so fyi there are no toilets, and no cover above your head. It gets very cold at night so take multiple layers and hats/gloves, etc. 100% recommend.Written 27 January 2025
- Stay601898836170 contributionsBest Camel SafariOur hosts were Ukka, Bhutta and Santos and they were great! We travel from Pleasant Havelli by jeep into desert and see oasis, fort and abandoned village. The camel ride was a highlight. At night our hosts prepared delicious food for us and prepared our bed under the stars. it was a night I will never forget. 10/10 Must Do!Written 7 January 2025
- alexnE4798VK0 contributionsGreat Desert camping ExperienceWe had an amazing Safari with our guide Ukka. The trip was very enjoyable and the hospitality was excellent. Highly recommend getting out into the desert with Pleasant Haveli. They were very helpful with a lot of different things and go out of their way to give you an enjoyable experience. The food was delicious and beds comfortable and warm even in winter. Camels were very friendly too.Written 5 January 2025
- claudiaricardaritas0 contributionsA perfect experience under the starsA perfect experience under the stars: Our guide Ukka was just amazing, taking care for all our needs and potential needs, ensuring a smooth experience. Great food, cooked on the fire. Beautiful sunset, cosy mattresses with bed sheets and enough warm blankets. We celebrated New Year's Eve here with 4 of our 5 kids and we all agreed that this has been an unforgettable experience!Written 4 January 2025
- richardandanna20160 contributionsWonderful camel safari experienceIf you are searching reviews trying to decide which camel safari to choose, look no further. The Pleasant Haveli organised an excellent one. We left luggage in the Haveli and had a fabulous safari, with a great guide who looked after us. We started by jeep with some interesting stops on the way, an abandoned village, a restored fort, and a peaceful reservoir. Trying out camel riding is a must …although less is probably more and this safari got the lengths of the sunset and sunrise rides about right. We were just one group of 12 camping on sandy dunes, and it felt miles from anywhere. Sleeping under the stars was wonderful. We were glad to have brought plenty of warm clothes to complement the quilted blankets provided. Cold beers can be ordered in advance. We didn’t stay overnight at the Pleasant Haveli hotel but they gave us rooms and towels to shower in on our return from safari, and looked after luggage while we explored Jaisalmer until our night train. An unforgettable experience.Written 3 January 2025
- Nate V0 contributionsSolo tripAbsolutely worth it. Ukka was my guide. I originally booked this for my friend and I but had to change last minute because he got sick. They were very flexible and I did the safari alone. I had a great experience and the guides were very friendly. Highlight of my trip was eating dinner at the bonfire and sleeping under the stars. Definitely a great trip if you want peace and quiet because when you book this there will be no other tourists to spoil the desert views, it's just you or your group.Written 1 January 2025
- KorbiB80 contributionsUnique experience, beautiful (non-touristic) camel safariPerfect experience, just like advertised and better ;) we had an amazing night out under the stars, and a nice ride on the camels. It's really non-touristic, Ukka took us to dunes far in the desert with noone else around. Small group, we ended up staying there alone with the guides. They prepare a bed under the stars with warm blankets. Everything is taken care of, great dinner and breakfast as well as a small campfire. Riding back on the camels in the morning we even saw several antílopes. Fun ride with the jeep through the desert, also stopping at some ancient ruins of a castle and an abandoned village. Recommended!!Written 1 December 2024
- traceypellett0 contributionsYOUVE GOT TO DO THIS!We couldn't fault it. We were so happy with everything. Our driver Ukka is the best 100% so good. He is also very good driver is very respectful and has very good sense of humor. 2 hour scenic drive with 2 stops on the way to an abandoned village and a small intricately decorated fort. Rode on the camels with Puna leading us. Such gorgeous camels and very well behaved...Awesome experience!. Puna took photos along the way for us. We rode for an hour to where Ukka and Dennis set up camp, cooking over a fire and set up a privacy brush screen for us around our outdoor bed. What a glorious place, so serene and vastly beautiful. After watching the picturesque sunset and finished our delicious dinner we sat around the campfire. Sleeping under the stars was incredible. We didn't want to close our eyes! Woke up to Chai and biscuits served to us in bed. Then breakfast of paratha, fresh banana, papaya plus toast and jam. Another camel ride for 30 mins and driven back to our guest house. Sad to finish. We would recommend this trip to everyone and if you can, do it for 2 nights. We would definitely do this again. We loved every minute of it. By the way it gets cold at night so bring something warmWritten 24 November 2024

- Coastal627902605500 contributionsFlexible and tastywe have 6 years boy. We worried if he can ride camel properly, he can eat something, he enjoy. But tour guide provide everything and it was amazing experience. Riding camel was not so difficult even for children. I ordered non spicy food and guide cooked well. Daal masara was so tasty. Guide provided us special tent if you require. No problem for sleep. I slept under star bed. It was very cold so special worming wear should be prepared. In morning, again camel ride. My boy got stomach aches and having wild toilet. We told them to stop riding camel then suddenly guide come bu jeep to pick us up. Thank you for Very good and flex hospitalityWritten 11 October 2024

Me and my partner did this sunset safari with Pleasant Haveli and highly highly recommend! We were able to enjoy the same experience as the overnight safari but were still able to come back to the hotel at night and sleep and shower. They let us choose whichever time we would like to leave the desert so there wasn’t any pressure to rush off, despite the fairly long drive back to Pleasant Haveli. Our guides were fantastic (I’m so sorry but I’ve totally forgotten their names as we did this about a month ago!) and we laughed, joked, sung and ate with them. They were so friendly and accommodating and just genuinely want to make sure you are enjoying your time. The camels seem well cared-for, the dinner was delicious and the view of the stars at around 9pm was absolutely beautiful! They made sure they took us to a proper sand dune (sometimes the dunes other companies take you to aren’t so great) and the sunset views were breathtaking.
Only thing I would suggest to people booking this is that you bring some tip money. A young child came with us to take the camels back once we had got to the dunes (you take camels into desert and jeep back out), we only brought a small amount of money with us and he held his hand out asking for tip before he left so it’s clear it was expected. We then had no money left to tip the tour guides which was a shame, so bring some change, it’s worth the tip!
Out of 1 month spent travelling India this was the best thing we experienced and I could not recommend it enough.

A beautiful and surprising jeep excursion through absolutely non-touristy places with final destination of the beautiful dunes and without the presence of anyone. The added value of this excursion was undoubtedly Ukka who knows the area perfectly and who with a very good English explained so many details of the area. Even the dinner masterfully prepared by Ukka, former camelman was delicious and plentiful. A tour really
to recommend for those who do not like to take the usual sightseeing tour on camels in places crowded with cars and tourists.

Excellent trip, can't recommend it highly enough. Everyone we met was so welcoming and our driver Kabil was excellent, both personally and in terms of driving safely/knowing the complex route out of the route. The camel riding was a lot of fun and the meal around the campfire was very tasty. Everyone ensured we had enough to eat and was constantly topping up our plates. Really lovely group of people and wonderful experience.

This was such an excellent sunset safari tour! Our guide took us out of a very non touristy area and shows us local villages along the way in the jeep.
Arun was our guide, he was very friendly and experienced. Cam and Sambu led us on the camels and then the 3 men cooked us a delicious dinner under the stars in the dunes.
Would recommend!

Couple of stops enroute to the camel ride and desert experience. Camel ride was good - camel’s looked well cared for. Desert sunset was great and camp fire food delicious. We opted to take a couple of beers with us (arranged with the tour co) which we enjoyed whilst watching the sunset. Enjoyable trip. Long drive back.

The AI Copilot of Microsoft recommended this tour. I can say it was absolutely worth it. The program was great and we felt safe and comfortable at all times, whether on the road, camel or in the dark desert. Thanks to Ukka, Ram and Santosh we had a unique experience that we will not forget so soon. The three guides have spoken good English so far and knew the desert and the roads as locals. The food was excellent.

The experience is really amazing! We chose the camel Safari with dinner on the dunes. First we had a jeep tour to the hounted village of Kuldhara, later we moved to Khaba Fort, with a wonderful view to the desert. Finally, we had a camel ride to the dunes and dinner there at the sunset. Everything was more than wonderful. Staff is really friendly and professional. We also came back with the driver Ali Baba, who was very careful along the road. This is really a 5 star experience, both for people and places! Totally suggested.

Our sunset safari was excellent. The camels were well behaved but an hour was long enough. On arrival at the sand dunes we had plenty of time to relax and take in the views. The food was very tasty and there was more than enough. Our driver, Ukka, was very friendly and knew the roads and tracks very well.
