        Good experience
Couple of stops enroute to the camel ride and desert experience. Camel ride was good - camel’s looked well cared for. Desert sunset was great and camp fire food delicious. We opted to take a couple of beers with us (arranged with the tour co) which we enjoyed whilst watching the sunset. Enjoyable trip. Long drive back.

        Great experience
The tour had a great mixture of desert driving, interesting historical sights and the camel rides. The sunset/dinner location in the peaceful dunes is very relaxing and a great finish.

Great experience in the desert of Jaisalmer
We had a very beautiful experience going on a jeepsafari with our guide Ukka. Ukka was always very friendly and helpful. He was a very good driver and cooked for us a very good meal while we we were enjoying the sunset and seeing the stars at night. It was all amazing.

        Exceptional
Excellent trip, can't recommend it highly enough. Everyone we met was so welcoming and our driver Kabil was excellent, both personally and in terms of driving safely/knowing the complex route out of the route. The camel riding was a lot of fun and the meal around the campfire was very tasty. Everyone ensured we had enough to eat and was constantly topping up our plates. Really lovely group of people and wonderful experience.

        Unforgettable experience
Me and my partner did this sunset safari with Pleasant Haveli and highly highly recommend! We were able to enjoy the same experience as the overnight safari but were still able to come back to the hotel at night and sleep and shower. They let us choose whichever time we would like to leave the desert so there wasn’t any pressure to rush off, despite the fairly long drive back to Pleasant Haveli. Our guides were fantastic (I’m so sorry but I’ve totally forgotten their names as we did this about a month ago!) and we laughed, joked, sung and ate with them. They were so friendly and accommodating and just genuinely want to make sure you are enjoying your time. The camels seem well cared-for, the dinner was delicious and the view of the stars at around 9pm was absolutely beautiful! They made sure they took us to a proper sand dune (sometimes the dunes other companies take you to aren’t so great) and the sunset views were breathtaking. Only thing I would suggest to people booking this is that you bring some tip money. A young child came with us to take the camels back once we had got to the dunes (you take camels into desert and jeep back out), we only brought a small amount of money with us and he held his hand out asking for tip before he left so it’s clear it was expected. We then had no money left to tip the tour guides which was a shame, so bring some change, it’s worth the tip! Out of 1 month spent travelling India this was the best thing we experienced and I could not recommend it enough.

        Exceptional Safari
Excursion to the special desert. They picked us up at the hotel with the Jeep and on the way to the desert we made several stops at very unique places. Our camels were waiting for us and they took us to the destination where we would spend the night. We watched the sunset over a dune while our extraordinary guide prepared a delicious dinner cooked on the fire. To sleep, they prepared some beds for us and we fell asleep under a sky full of starts. In the morning a delicious breakfast was waiting for us. Exceptional experience. highly recommended.

        Great caring Safariteam, brilliant experience
After checking the options i fully and wholeheartedly chose for the nontourist style of Pleasant Haveli camel safaris. I love independent travel and i do not like larger groups or gatherings so spending a night in the desert in a comfortable but quiet surroundings was perfect. I am travelling with my ten yr old son and we both absolutely loved this safari. We got picked up by jeep from the hotel by Arun, who is a interesting, knowledgeable and also fun and trustworthy guide. He explained a lot about the places w e saw and desert life in Rajasthan in general . We saw an oasis and the deserted village. Then we got on the camels: Our camelguide Naru is an excellent humanbeing in being so patient when my son was a bit hesitant or was impressed by the camels standing up and sitting down. The whole experience was adjusted exactly to our wishes: if we wanted to ride short or long etc . The food was good and its very fun to sit and see how lunch is made from scratch on the fire. Naru was very much service oriented, very friendly and very accommodating. Supergood. The stargazing sleeping was absolutely priceless ( according to my son the starry highlight ) In short: this is a superb experience and the pleasant safari team of Arun and camelman Neru goes the whole yard ( and further ! ). Highly recommended.

Thanks to Arun and Naru, we had a great time during the camel safari. Naturally, Kalu, Lalu, King Kong, Al Pacino and Pineapple (camels) were a highlights. The food was really good. 5 stars.

        Best safari of life!
Best way to explore the desert! Never through we would enjoy it so much! Dilip Singh @ Pleasant haveli helped organise the trip. He kept our luggage and gave a room to freshen up on return- very important! Driver Arun was also a cook and a guide. Niru helped with camel 🐪 rides and cooking. All very courteous and helpful! We started safari in black Mahendra Thar jeep at 2:30 PM. After taking in the Ghost town of Kuldhara and the lake sites we reached border of desert. After one hour camel ride (5 of us on 5 camels), we reached the dunes in time for sunset that we watched while sipping hot tea and fries - freshly made by the team on stone fire! We had a freshly cooked dinner around the fire and slept in middle of the desert under the sky. What an experience! The night sky was like a theatre! We could see layers after layers of the stars from Milky Way galaxy! Morning watched sunrise while sipping tea and also had fresh breakfast! Return on camel for an hour and then the jeep! Would love to do this all over again may be for longer-3 nights! Recommend it to all! Try at least once!

        Desert delights🐪
This is one of the highlights of our trip to India. My wife and I loved the whole 2 days. The Pleasant Safari was very well organised and catered for our every need. Arun the main guide and driver was both fun and informative, he works hard! Naru our camel 🐪 guide has such knowledge and passion for his camels. Lovely guys, a pleasure to be with. The Pleasant Haveli also organised a suprise wedding anniversary treat which I'm thankful for. I highly recommend this trip through the Pleasant Desert Safari, you will not regret it😃

        Defied All Expectation
The Camel Safari through Hotel Pleasant Haveli is all that you might imagine and probably a bit more. Multiple groups in Jaisalmer offer Camel Safaris to the nearby desert, but Pleasant Haveli markets and prides theirs on being "non-touristic." The description is accurate, and they brought a level of personalization and authenticity beyond my expectations. Arun, the lead guide on the expedition, is incredibly informative, accomplished in English, and a joy to simply sit and talk to. En route to the camels (by Jeep provided by the hotel) We stopped at village ruins and artificial lakes, where Arun told us the history of the region. The camel portion was roughly an hour and a half, with gentle slopes and a comfortable pace. Upon arriving at our destination, Arun and his team set up bed frames and blankets for lounging, and cooked us an authentic meal in the desert. As night fell, the crew moved the bed frames anywhere on the dunes we wanted to spend the evening, and we slept under a sky bright with stars. Upon returning the the hotel, Pleasant Haveli provided us a room to bathe and prepare for the next leg of our journey (despite having already checked out.) The entire experience, from the staff to the safari itself exceeded every expectation.

Safe, friendly, amazing camel safari experience
We loved our camel safari through Pleasant Haveli! Arun, our guide, made all the difference. His deep knowledge of the desert and facility with English was much appreciated. He is incredibly accommodating and friendly, cooking our delicious meals and setting up our cots anywhere we would like on the sand dunes. This safari in particular is amazing because it is in the Desert National Park, an unspoiled land whose beauty is the backdrop for watching a million stars unfurl as night progresses. You won’t regret booking through Pleasant Haveli.

        Excellent sunset safari!
This was such an excellent sunset safari tour! Our guide took us out of a very non touristy area and shows us local villages along the way in the jeep. Arun was our guide, he was very friendly and experienced. Cam and Sambu led us on the camels and then the 3 men cooked us a delicious dinner under the stars in the dunes. Would recommend!

We booked our safari tour directly through the Pleasent Haveli Hotel based on a tip from a review on booking.com. The organization in advance by mail was completely hassle-free. We were asked in advance about our drink wishes & started on time at the hotel in a 4W jeep. Our guide Arun already told us on the way that we would do a "none touristic-tour". We were set for a camel ride & an accommodation in one of the desert camps in a tent. What we got though was so incredibly much better. Past all the tourist desert camps and into the middle of the desert, about 70km from Jaisalmer. We took a camel ride of about 2.5 hours with Sambu (the camel man) up to the sand dunes, where Arun already welcomed us and prepared fresh food (dal, mixed vegetables, rice & naan) for us on an open fire, really delicious! Except Sambu, Arun & the camels, no one was there, we had the Indian desert to ourselves, could watch the sunset, shoot countless photos in the dunes and let the evening end at the campfire and a Chaitea. Afterwards Arun made our bed ready for the night at a place of our choice in the dunes. Comfortable cots, with mattresses, pillows and several blankets (at night it can be properly cold & windy in the desert). We spent the night under the stars in the middle of the dunes. The two guides prepared a delicious breakfast for us the next morning (porrdige, toast, jam, fresh fruit & chai tea) and we made a short stop for a few photos in a smaller village in the desert on the way back to town.

Arun & Sambu were the best guides ever and our trip was as unexpected as it was perfect. We could hardly believe our luck about this unique experience and highly recommend the trip with Arun & Sambu to everyone.

Arum and Sambu treated us to a spectacular time! Arum drove us to the archeological site on the way, an oasis with tiny frogs, and gave interesting information along the way to meeting Sambu. Also waiting for us were Johnny and Al Pacino- the two most gentle camels in India! Our night was filled with exploring the sand dunes, enjoying the sunset, and watching a spectacular display of stars while enjoying a hot, delicious meal. Raised beds were so cozy, we slept great! In the morning, breakfast was served after a cup of Masala chai. Watching Sambu hike down the dunes to collect Johnny and Al Pacino, then saddle them for our return ride, made the adventure complete. I highly recommend this trip with these guides!

Going to the desert and riding a camel was a dream I had since we started planning our trip to India. And the Pleasant Haveli not only made it true but gave me one of the best times of my life. Everyone in the tour was super nice to me and my friends, made us feel safe and cared for us from start to end. It rained on us the first day and they were so understanding and nice that planned a whole different tour for us the next day. We drove to the country side with a beautiful scenery, visited a super cool abandoned village and we rode their lovely camels from the start of a very peaceful desert up to a dune where they made a delicious traditional dish (they even made a spicy sauce on the side so each could add to their liking), this while we took a great nap under a tree on the side of the dunes. The pictures they took of us can’t compare to the breathtaking beauty of this day. I will definitely come back and do a longer safari with them, and I recommend anyone that goes to Jaisalmer to look for them, I guarantee it will be the best choice you can make!

This was an amazing experience. From the start we arrived at the stunning Pleasant Haveli to be greeted with a masala chai or coffee and a room to store our bags. Our host gave us turbans to wear and sent out to get another pink one for me! Ooka (our driver and guide) was absolutely the best, great English, great fun and so knowledgeable because he and his family live in the desert in a village near the camp. We went in his jeep.. First we went to a deserted village, very atmospheric and interesting ruins. Watch out for bats in the old kitchen. Then on to the lake surrounded by mausoleums, very peaceful with great wildlife. Then on to the fort. Also interesting, but pales into insignificance compared to the desert! We met Dinnis and Poona and our camels. As the sun was beginning to set Dinnis led us through the desert, gently guiding the camels through the brush landscape, occasionally startling small antelopes and birds. We travelled through the savannah for around an hour and arrived at the camp. Very simple camp but we were greeted by Ooka and Poona with warm smiles and hot masala chai! We gathered round the fire while Dinnis rolled out the chappati dough. Ooka chatted and made up our beds 5* with white bedsheets, pillows and warm eiderdowns. Dinner was an amazing veggie Thali with special garlic chutney (Thankyou to Dinnis) . Then the moon set and the stars became clearer. It was incredible, we saw shooting stars, the Milky Way, Pegasus plaides, so clearly. If you don’t know the stars make sure to download an app to help you navigate and enjoy more. Beds were so comfortable and it was really warm with the blanket. I couldn’t sleep as I kept waking up to see the stars. But my partner slept well! Dawn was beautiful over the desert and a great breakfast served also. Then another camel ride and a lovely drive back with Ooka who is so informative and just a great fun guy to be around. Back to the hotel where they gave us a lovely room to shower and freshen up and more tea! To be clear, there is no entertainment, no toilet, no tents but it is an exceptional experience if you want to be in the desert and see the stars and be with great people from the local village!

.Uka, my driver brought me first by jeep to Kuldhara, an a banded village. The next stop was the Jassery oasis where some women and children danced by the waterside. A magical experience. Next and final stop was a short visit to Khabarovsk Fort, which was really in the middle of nowhere.

One hour later we arrived at the spot where the camel driver was waiting for us. My camel was a bit irritated at first but fortunately his driver kept him under control so I could enjoy the ride. It was a rather uncomfortable drive, at least if you are not used to it, but one hour later we arrived at our overnight camp in the Thar desert, on top of some lovely sand dunes.

It turned out to be the perfect spot to watch the sun setting whilst my dinner was being freshly cooked on a bonfire and I was enjoying a cold Kingfisher they had brought for me.

What a lovely evening and with it being full moon there was plenty of light to see the surroundings but also the starts. My bed had been prepared with fresh bedding on top of a sanddune. The view over the desert was simply breathtaking and that. Night I went to bed with an enourmous smile in my face.

Next morning I was woken up by Uka who was bringing me a cup of tea. Another moment I will never forget, the sun was already set and magical colours filled the air.

After breakfast we returned for the 2 hour drive back to the hotel.

The safari was a big success, everything was perfectly organised, food plenty and tasty. The best without doubt was sleeping over I under the stars. Magic pure magic.

I can highly rec this extraordinary experience

This excursion was without a doubt the highlight of my trip to India so far! It was exactly what I needed to escape the hustle and bustle (and noise!) of Indian city life for a day—pure silence and relaxation, lying under the stars in the middle of the desert! As a solo female traveller and the only guest of the day, I was hesitant that this was the right activity for me, but Arun and Sambu made me feel safe and comfortable from start to finish. They treated me like a queen!! They told me all about the Thar Desert, shared stories and anecdotes about what life is like in the area, and were constantly checking to be sure I had everything I needed or could ever want—fresh cold water, snacks, chai, beautiful food—all while enjoying the incredible landscape. I have never been so well taken care of in all my life! The camels were lovely and well taken care of too. I would absolutely recommend this trip to everyone visiting India! Arun and Sambu couldn’t have been better and the whole trip was just brilliant!! Book it today, you won’t regret it!

I don’t even know where to begin. We had actually booked a camel safari with another company but cancelled and went with these guys instead and I am so happy that we did.

The weather was far from ideal on our overnight trip (though this was unforeseen, the forecast was ok) but Dinesh, Puna and Uka did their absolute best to make us feel comfortable and at home. Shout out Al Pacino and Michael (our camels) as well. The food was delicious and Dinesh even showed my wife how to make Chapati’s. The guys were attentive when they needed to be but also gave us plenty of time to soak in the desert life all to ourselves as well.

My wife was a little nervous heading into the excursion but she did very well considering the conditions that were thrown at us. This was helped by the atmosphere Dinesh, Puna and Uka had created, they made her feel right at home. This tour is 100% safe for female travellers!

I’d also like to extend our thanks to the guys back at reception at the Pleasant Haveli Hotel in Jaisalmer as well. We’d had a pretty rough night in the desert and they gave us a complimentary room for a few hours to freshen up and get some rest before our train which was leaving late in the afternoon.

I know for a fact this would have been the highlight of my India trip if it wasn’t for the storm. It’s a desert and I think we were desperately unlucky with the weather, I can’t imagine they get many nights like the one we had, though they are of course prepared for these unlikely events. You’ll be staring into the night sky night tucked up in bed, make sure you download a stargazing app so you can see what you’re looking at. We saw planets and plenty of constellations, I just wish that storm didn’t interrupt our fun.

Thanks again guys, hopefully you won’t have another night like that one for a while!

      This was an amazing experience

Arun and the camel man (forgot his name!) were perfect hosts. Don’t be daunted about going out into the desert and sleeping there - your comfort and safety are the priority.

The camels are well trained (shout out al Pacino!), and they’re looked after well. The guys are full on knowledge about the desert and surrounding areas - they have a lot of interesting stuff to say

They strike the balance between giving you privacy, and being attentive, perfectly. The camp spot is beautiful, the beds are comfortable, and the food they cooked was delicious and fresh.

A special mention to Arun, the main guide. The day after the tour, we ran into him into the street, lost. He helped us to get where we were going, simply out of the goodness of his heart. He’s a good man and he’ll go out of his way for you!

The experience itself is great, sleeping under the stars is amazing. See for yourself.

How to describe this experience with words.. it’s was magical. I feel it was a dream as it was so unreal. First of all Ukka waited for us one hour because our bus was late. Then we’ve spent a little moment in the hotel to use the bathroom before leaving. We’ve made few visits before to meet the camels and our second guide. After 1 hours of ride we’ve discover the sand dunes and a little chaï was waiting for us in front of a splendid sunset. We enjoyed taking picture of this landscape while the boys were making us dinner. They were so nice to talk with we just felt like we were with friends. Food was delicious and eating it in this decor made it more extraordinary. After that we made ourself confortable in our little bed in the middle of nowhere with a good blankets on us. The sky was full of stars and we’ve seen a lot of shooting ones. Our guides made us a good and big breakfast in the morning and we took the camel to go back. We also had time to take a shower at the hotel after this adventure. Ukka even drove us back to our bus and waited with us so we could feel safe.

I wanna precise that we were two women. My mother and I and we felt very safe and in security with our guides.

A special thanks to Ukka who is a genuinely nice person and certainly my most beautiful meeting of my trip in India.

Going on the non-touristic overnight safari with Pleasant Haveli was one of the best decisions on my Jaisalmer trip.

My husband and I were the only two at our camp, so we had complete solitude. We saw beautiful sand dunes, millions of stars, empty desert roads, had a camel ride for an hour in the evening and the next morning. We also saw the sunset in the desert, and visited an oasis and Khaba Fort.

The food was cooked on woodfire and was simple but delicious vegetarian Indian fare. The bed was comfortable and adequately warm. We also spotted several deer and a desert fox. Breakfast was wheat porridge, toast, juice and fruits. Tea and snacks were also provided twice. Hukum Singh took wonderful care of us.

Overall, excellent trip, and highly recommended!
