        Highlights of Kerala
Just returned back from 11 days in beautiful Kerala, completing the fabled triangle, Kochi, Munnar, Thekaddy and back to Kochi. This was a very last minute trip, so it was imperative that the tour operator was able to quickly pull together options for me (3 days). Anoop at Saffron was amazing - right from the initial contact, he understood my requirements based on what type of trip we were looking for and what was good and what to avoid. Anoop created a bespoke package for us within a few days, and that gave me the confidence to commit and book my tickets from London to Kochi. We had one driver for the tour, who went at our pace, and stopped where we wanted and when we wanted to break. There was no pressure or rushing around - which is really important when the key element is to relay and enjoy the views as you travel through the amazing countryside. The hotels that Anoop suggested were great, and cannot complain on the rooms, food or service. Just truly brilliant. Lastly, Anoop also recommended a lovely Ayurveda resort, Nihara, where we spent the last week of our trip. This was again a real gem, as otherwise it’s quite challenging to choose an Ayurveda centre from the dozens that are advertised when visiting from abroad. If you want to visit Kerala, and be assured that you will be dealing with a professional, family based tour operator, who will tailor the tour to your preferences, I can definitely recommend Saffron Tours.

Don’t expect to get all the itinerary says you will
Reading the reviews we expected a wonderful tour, alas that wasn’t what we received. We didn’t get 4 of the items on the schedule. The national park is closed every year for February and March so if planning to go you won’t be able to in those months and Saffron Tours know this but don’t advise, they still leave it on the schedule. In the early part of the year the waterfalls are nonexistent but again they know but don’t advise, 2 other elements we weren’t taken to and only realised when checking at the end of the day. We did enjoy the tea museum and of course the wonderful scenery but 5 hours in a car with the ‘interesting’ driving style was not the best. The 3 nights hotel accommodation were fab with great pools, clean rooms and very caring staff but these hotels exist without Saffron Tours. The actual hotels though were great. The backwaters are so peaceful and it’s great to watch the world glide by but you literally sail away from the start point for max 1 1/2 hours then stop for lunch and sail back to the start point which has a new bridge being built and pile driving going on late into the night. You are moored up cheek by Jowel with all the other boats and there are hundreds of them so it’s not the restful image you are given, even 2 of the staff members go home rather than staying on the boat overnight. You pay for top class service with Saffron Tours but receive a third rate one so personally I’d not recommend them as they lied to us. In fairness I brought issues to their attention and the apologised and after 3 weeks I got a small percentage back as an apology but I could have organised a driver and booked hotels and boat myself for half the cost. Either try another tour operator or book it yourself or wait until you are in India where there are loads and loads of tour operators offering such 3 or 4 or even 5 night schedules depending on what you want. Please if you use Saffron Tours manage your expectations downwards. Last point most of the attractions are very popular so there are tacky stalls selling cheap plastic toys and random tat which again was a bit of a surprise no locally produced hand made items to be seen 🤷‍♂️

        We expected English speaking guides.
Lovely boat and scenery and the onboard lunch was fantastic. The only negative was that English speaking guides were advertized and none of the boat crew spoke English. As birdwatchers, the onus was on us to provide commentary to the other passengers.

        Unprofessional
Very unprofessional and unresponsive agency. Stopped communicating once we confirmed the trip. Unfortunately, our 12 trip had to be changed after 2 days due to medical reasons but not only they refused to reconcile amount we paid (we paid 100%) but they didn't respond to any email, phone call or messages requesting reconciliation. Plus was the driver (Vishnu) we gad for first 2 days, he was very helpful, courteous and caring.

        Kerala 4nights-5days excellent trip
My husband and I booked this trip for first week of January 2024. It was a very well arranged, good few spots for sightseeing that we could do at our own pace. Our driver (Sainu) was excellent, always on time and drove very safely. The car (Toyota Innova) was also very comfy. We both had a 30kg suitcase and a 10kg hand luggage each and it all fit in hassle free in the car. Also the trip coordinator and the driver were always available when called, we always had a clear line of communication with them despite it being peak tourist season. The package included really good, clean hotels with all modern amenities and comfort, we really enjoyed each stay. There wasn't a set itinerary but we had rough list of sightseeing spots based on the package provided. I would however, recommend dropping the Spice Plantation plus Ayurvedic shop part of the trip in Munnar, the Spice "garden" was just a trail walk while the guide showed us plants growing on the side of the trail, it's not a garden, just an upper level introduction to Ayurvedic plants. But other than that we thoroughly enjoyed the trip! Would highly recommend to couples, families etc.

Do it yourself and save time and money
This was a very poorly executed trip. Either the driver had no idea what our itinerary was or it was a good act. We were promised: 1. A mid size car … it was tiny. 2. Tickets included … we had to pay for them ourselves. This was only 200 rupees per person. 3. Bottled water … had to buy our own. 4. Lunch at 4 star hotel … driver offered for us to get out and buy some lunch from a roadside stall … we got our lunch as promised after complaining and significant delays. This was at Casa Rio and food was good and would have cost around 6 euros each. 5. Vazhachal Falls - driver was 20 minutes on way home when we realised that he was going the wrong way so we made him turn around. This probably added 2 hours to the trip. We had to complain loudly about paying for a trip and not getting what was supposed to be included. The boss said he would refund us our out of pocket costs but haven’t heard boo from him. He has had 48 hours to respond and hasn’t so my review is scathing (and deserves to be). The day took close to 8 hours … there is no way they can do it in 6 hours unless you don’t go to the bottom of the Athirappilly Falls. This is a really expensive way to see the waterfalls. Highly recommend either hiring your own driver or getting an Uber and set your own itinerary and lunch destination. We paid 124 euros when the whole trip could have been done for 40 euros and saved us a lot of aggravation. Don’t book this trip!!

What you get from this tour is prebooked hotels, a very skilled driver and a plan of recommended activities. You can always change plans and tell your driver where you would like to go next. We had a great time! Our driver was very friendly and, as mentioned, very skillfull which made us feel safe. Also, the hotels they booked were fantastic. We definetely recommend this tour. Kerala is so beautiful ;)

Saffron Tours was exceptional. They were organized, knowledgeable, and responsive to our needs. The itinerary they crafted showcased the best of Kerala, from the tranquil backwaters to the vibrant cities. Accommodations were comfortable and premium segments, he transportation was reliable and the chauffeur mr.rajesh was well behaved. Their attention to detail and commitment to ensuring a memorable experience made our Kerala tour truly special. Will surely refer to our friends who all are visiting India.

        Beautiful Kerala
We absolutely loved Kerala. Doing the tour was a great way to see many things without the stress of organizing or coordinating all of the logistics. It was incredibly organized, and the staff was very attentive and accommodating to our needs and preferences. The car for moving between cities was a great idea, and our driver, Mr. Jojan, was super friendly, accommodating, professional and a very good driver. The hotels were all superb, incredibly clean and with fantastic service. We loved Munnar, the tea plantations, Thekkady and the boat ride in Periyar. We highly recommend this tour, and will be recommending it to any friends who are travelling through Kerala.

Kerala Backwaters and Munnar a must in Kerala
We arranged 2 separate trips with Saffron. 1 was a day trip on the Backwaters. My husband and I had a boat to ourselves. The trip on the boat was beautiful...our guide stopped off at a small village where we got fresh shrimp that the cook on board cooked for us. The view on the backwaters was stunning with lots of different birds. We stopped later in the afternoon to have lunch which the cook had prepared fresh on the boat. Highly recommend this day trip. The 2nd trip was 2 days in Munnar the hill station. We spen 1 night at the Amber Dale hotel. The staff at the hotel were great especially Nishad and Roshan. The tea plantations and scenery in Munnar were breath taking. We took a tour at the tea factory which was very interesting. Saffron tours did a great job with guides, drivers and hotels.

        Book elsewhere
The waterfalls were really beautiful, but this tour itself is not something we would recommend. The driver didn’t speak much English, so it was not a guided tour as he couldn’t say much about the places we visited. He sat in the car while we went to see the waterfalls. The ticket to get in the park costs 200 rupees per person, so we think this tour can be done much cheaper, if you hire a cab instead. We did not get any water or private guide as promised in the tour description. Even though Indians honk a lot, the driver honked so much you couldn’t go 30 seconds without him honking to the radio music or to nothing at all. It also took 2-3 hours longer than we were told. All in all a disappointing tour.

Its waste of time and money.
Package was described for 7-8 hours but booking was 3:5 hours only and didn't provide a backwater tour rather but a run around the lake.
Food was totally cold and less tasty.
Even they had not served the snakes because they were in rush to end .
      It was really disappointed.
AVOID this tour operator at all cost.

CAUTION This is not as advertised. Boat is 1 star quality, didn't provide a backwater tour rather but rather a run around the lake. I knew it was dodgy when the driver stopped and waited for an extended time in front of trash pile. Anup the owner tried to sell us more trips rather than provide a nice experience. Food was served cold and not very good at all. AVOID this tour operator at all costs.

This was our first experience in a houseboat. Have heard a lot about houseboats but never experienced till now. Happy that the trip went well and it was a wonderful experience. We really enjoyed the beauty of kerala backwaters. Food served was awesome. Had a chance to taste the spices rich curries and rice along with the unique star of kerala which is the Karimeen fry. Prawns was also very tasty. Most i liked in the trip is the toddy and the ride through the small canals. Thank you anopp for arranging such a memorable trip. By the way the honeymoon cake was a big surprise and really touched our heart. Will defenitely come back for sure.

Excellent trip! The houseboat staff were very friendly, approachable & helped us with taking photos on the boat. The lunch was excellent! One thing to be aware of is that the boat takes you to a seafood market where you can choose any seafood that you also want cooked as an addition to the lunch, but this is an additional charge. Well worth it though!

Definitely a little pricey but worth it! Got picked up from our hotel, stopped for some delicious chai and snacks, then we headed over to Allepey for our boat ride.

The boat was very clean, the ride was smooth, its really a romantic, peaceful, breathtaking, VIP experience you can’t miss. I would recommend making a trip to Kerala just for this (just don’t stay at the Ramada Resort, find a proper hotel like the Taj Malabar - anyways, I digress!)

Nandhu our driver was friendly and kind. Our boat captain was a total pro and our chef cooked up a massive feast! Delicious fish, prawns, chicken, lentils, the full works.

If we ever get to do another trip to India, we will come back to Kerala. And we will do this same boat ride with Saffron tours, that’s how good it was.

I booked this trip for myself and my friend at my own risk, knowing that July is a rainy month in Kerala. But the tour actually exceeded all of my expectations. The weather was nice and the view was pretty along the way, but the best part is the crew- everyone was so friendly and smiling from the first second we came on board. The boat accommodates 2 people, it has a bedroom, bathroom, a lot of space on the terrace where we spent 90% of the ride enjoying the view. The lunch was grand as well! So much food: rice, fried fish, chicken, side dishes, etc. It was all really tasty! In general, a day very well spent. Thank you, guys, for organizing this tour and helping visitors see the beauty of Kerala! ❤️
