- lizgX5700EO0 contributionsGhandi Bazaar to the Bull TempleOur walk from Ghandi Bazaar to the Bull Temple was such a great way to experience Bangalore while learning about the city’s history and culture. There were many opportunities to get to see things that you could only do with local knowledge, like eating the best dosa! Sushma our guide clearly was sharing her love for own city and it was a pleasure to walk and talk with her. Would highly recommend for anyone travelling to Bangalore.Written 9 January 2025
- vidhajain0 contributionsVery interesting look at the history, tradition and customs of BangaloreI did the tour of Basavanagudi with a couple of friends. We were all visiting Bangalore for the first time and this tour was such a fantastic way to learn about its history and culture. We saw a side of Bangalore you don’t normally hear about - the traditions, the people, the customs. Deepti was a fantastic guide - she was very engaging, very friendly and very obviously passionate about the subject. The dosas in one of the oldest restaurants in Bangalore were a special highlight. I would highly recommend this tour.Written 4 January 2025

She took us to a famous dosa spot for a delish afternoon snack and at every stop her explanations were filled with so much knowledge and history. We found Sushma Ajay through the "Tours by Locals" website of Bangalore and we are so very glad for that. Her own company is "Yours truly India." Initially the tour was described as lasting 3 hours but we asked if she could lengthen it to 5 hours which she did. We arranged our own transportation to/from the city as our hotel was near the airport. This was easy to do.
We started at the Aurobindo Ashram, then walked to the Gurudwara Sikh center, onto Halasuru village, then to the Someshwara Temple, to the Graveyard at the Kali Temple, to a outdoor laundry site, to the Indiranagar area. The walking was done at an easy pace with conversation, explanations along the way . Sushma was knowledgeable, amiable, and we learned so much about Indian culture, religion, daily life. Walking through the neighborhood of Halasuru was particularly interesting. This is truly a worthwhile walking tour: good value for the money and time well spent. Thank you Sushma and much continued success in your endeavours.

Our tour guide, Ruchira, took us on 'The Half-Day Heritage Private Tour.' Ruchira has a deep understanding of the rich history of Bangalore, and we were delighted to learn about this wonderful city. We visited some iconic sites, including the House of Parliament, Cubbon Park, the Market, and the Sri Big Bull Temple. We also enjoyed a beautiful snack meal at Brahims, famous for its Idly/Vada. This alone was an exceptional culinary experience. I highly recommend taking this tour with Ruchira as soon as you arrive, as she shared some valuable tips on visiting the best restaurants and other iconic sites in Bangalore. Ruchira is an exceptional and knowledgeable tour guide.

Our guide Ruchira led us on a fantastically interesting tour of the old city. She was very knowledgeable and made sure we remained safe in the maelstrom of packed streets full of people, mopeds and tutktuks. A hole in the wall dosa restaurant down an alleyway was a real treat but the market and especially the flower market were unique experiences for us. I think we were the only two non-natives we saw the whole afternoon among thousands and thousands of people. With no hassle from trinket sellers, beggars, etc we felt were able to relax and absorb the sites, sounds and smells. Go with Ruchira before old Bangalore becomes touristy.

Sushma was an excellent guide. She was well informed and delivered thoroughly researched content on various aspects of the city - architecture, history, culture and folklore. We had several enlightening discussions throughout the walk. Having gone with our dog, we were slow at times and had to make some pitstops, but Sushma and Deepti were both very accommodating and helped us all through the way.
Highly recommend this team!

Navitha took us on a wonderful, informative tour of Bangalore. She took us to one of the city’s best dosa spots & it was amazing! We then headed to a local market selling fruits, vegetables & flowers. Was very interesting to walk around & not something our group would have likely ventured to do without a guide. Navitha was kind, very well-informed & was happy to answer all of our questions. We liked our experience with Yours Truly India so much we booked two additional activities through the group — a yoga class in Cubbon Park & a cooking class where we learned to make delicious traditional South Indian dishes. Highly recommend this group.

So glad I got to do this, I am still thinking about what we experienced, lasting memories were created.

What an amazing way to see Bangalore! So much history, so many stories! A big thank you to Deepti. I would never have been able to do this tour in my own. We loved the tour! Bangalore is such a busy and bustling place, it was fantastic to have a guide as lovely as Deepti to show us around. The depth of her knowledge of the area was impressive and we enjoyed hearing the history of the market area.
