MYSTICAL KASHMIR WITH HOUSE BOAT ACCOMMODATION IRCTC TOUR PACKAGE SHA 11, 21-26 MAR 2022 1. I along with my wife under took the Mystical Kashmir With House Boat Accommodation IRCTC Package SHA 11 from 21 to 26 Mar 2022.We were total twenty two members in the group and our Tour Manager cum Guide was Mr Krupakar Ravipati. 2. We boarded Indigo flight at Hyderabad at 0500 0n 21 Mar and landed at Delhi at 0715. The connecting flight was at 1255 which took us to Srinagar at 1430hrs. We had to spend a lot of time in transit at Delhi, but that seems to be unavoidable. Hyderabad to Srinagar there is only one direct flight. We were put up at Hotel Adlife Luxury at Srinagar for the next four days. The Adlife Luxury Hotel was good, rooms decent and service satisfactory. The hotel rooms do not have individual geysers, hot water is made available for fixed timings. Most of the times the water was just lukewarm . Tea kettle and tea arrangements are available in the hotel rooms. 3. On 21 Mar itself, enroute to the hotel, our Guide took us to the famous Dal Lake where we went for a short trip on Shikara. I remembered the many famous films like Kashmir Ki Kali, Jab Jab Phool Khile shot in the Dal Lake. The Shikara ride was enjoyable. 4. The next day on 22 Mar, we went to Pahalgam which is approximately 85 km to the west of Srinagar. Visit to mini Switzerland which is on a hill top is the primary attraction. The mini Switzerland is nothing but a meadow with snow covered mountains in the background. From the base to the hill top, there is a rugged road which is full of pot holes, stones, slush and ditches. The moment you get down from your vehicle, you are surrounded by brokers. Pony ride to the mini Switzerland is offered. Adventure Route, which means the most treacherous route through gutters, streams, mud, steep gradients is cheap. Semi adventure route is longer and more expensive. Bujurgonka ( for elderly people) route is the most expensive. We bargained and settled for the costliest and supposedly the most comfortable ride. Rs 1200/ per pony. Still the pony driver takes you through the adventure route. Because it takes less time, and more rides he can do in a day and more money. Within a few minutes of the pony ride, you start feeling uncomfortable and unsafe. You may fall off the pony and break your hip or limbs, though no such incidents have been reported. That gives rise to a new game; hire a person called Body Friend at Rs 600/ to hold you tight throughout the pony ride. The mini Switzerland is quite disappointing. The hotels there are quite third class. You come back with every part of your body aching. Thrill is almost non-existent. Overall, the Pahalgam trip is not worthwhile and a waste of time. 5. The third day, on 23 Mar our visit was to Gulmarg. We could not get Gondola ride tickets in spite the best efforts by our Guide Mr Krupakar. We had to contend with playing in the ice, some local sight seeing etc. Here we need to ponder over the role of IRCTC. The IRCTC Tour Itinerary says, ”The coach will transfer up to the Tourist Bus parking in Gulmarg. Thereon, you may visit the Gondola point/nearby sightseeing places by jeep/pony on your own payment.” So, technically, the IRCTC has washed off its hands – We told you already - and the onus is on the tourist. However, the customer satisfaction in this tour is low as the most thrilling Gondola ride did not take place. Why can’t the IRCTC do online booking in advance for the most sought after Gondola ride ? 6. The fourth day 24 Mar was Srinagar sight seeing. The only worthwhile place to visit is the Tulip Garden. It is totally out of the world and amazing. Though the famous Shalimar Baugh is more than 400 years old and carries an aura, the Sanjeevaiah Park of Hyderabad is thousand times better than the Shalimar Baugh. We visited a Shiv/Sankaracharya temple which involved climbing more than two hundred steps. Some sense of attachment at last. 7. The fifth day, 25 Mar, we visited Sonamarg. Visit to some local sight seeing points by a sledge is the attraction. Same story like Pahalgam, you are coerced to hire a personal helper at Rs 600/. In the evening we came back to Srinagar and were put up at a house boat. The houseboat was beautiful but for the following ; • By the time we reached the houseboat it was already dark, nothing could be seen • We left the houseboat next day morning at 0600, when it was still dark. Nothing could be seen. • The boat was stationary, no sailing like the Dindi houseboats in the Godavari. • Most of the time you are grappling with unpacking, packing, water problem and already dog tired after a hard day. 8. On 26 Mar, commenced our journey back to Hyderabad. It was like a hurdles race. In Srinagar, just one kilometer short of the airport, we go through a security check by the CRPF post. Total luggage to be unloaded, stand in long queues carrying the luggage, screening and walk to your bus which was parked some 500 meters away. This security check has no legal binding. Airport security CISF strip you again. We landed at Delhi, Terminal-2 and had to shift to T-1 for our connecting flight. There is a counter where you present your previous journey and future journey tickets and boarding passes and get a free ride coupon. The free ride bus is once in 20 minutes. There is a payment bus service too at Rs 40/ per head. 9. We reached Hyderabad by round 2000 on 26 Mar. The trip is overall well managed. Our guide Mr Krupakar left no stone unturned to make over our trip a comfortable and a memorable one. He did not wash off his hands as proclaimed in the IRCTC Itinerary. Every place, he enquired going rates, bargained and got the deals to the best advantage of the tourists. I am grateful to him for his service, Thank you IRCTC for the memorable trip. I visited Leh in the first week of May 2019. Leh is an excellent place. After reaching here you have to acclimatize yourself to the climate, which is generally dry and temperature is around 10 degrees in summers. Places which can be put on ones site seeing places is Nobra Valley which is 5 hours drive, Pangond lake 5 to 6 hours drive, then places within Leh are Pathar sahab Gurdwara, Monestry built by Japan, Magnetic Hills, Khardung La pass etc.

We can't just explaining, it's just Paisa washool. My suggestion is, everyone should visit Kashmir once in their lives, no worries at all, even after Pulwama attack it's not worriedable.
