Kuldip was our local the tour guide for 5 days in the Kitchen area studying textiles. A survivor of the 2001 earthquake he shared so much with us and brought us to local villages rarely visited by tourists. He is a natural teacher and believes in eco tourism and walks the talk. He truly helps so many families in this rural area.

Kuldip Ghadavi knows Bhuj and the surrounding area like the back of his hand. He loves Gujurat and Gujurat loves him. This was apparent from all the people who greeted him while we toured, from museum guards to a long lost "brother", none of whom had any thing financial to gain. Kuldip knows textiles and the masters who make textiles and their respect for one another's work and artistry is obvious. Kuldip has run a very successful business for a decade now, thanks to his authenticity, his inate knowledge of the region, its people, crafts, history and culture. He's the real thing. We four from Canada and Latvia did a home stay with his family. His mother makes the best food in India, and Ankita and their son are hospitality personified.

I first met Kuldip in 2011 when I was in Kutch doing some research for an MA in the UK. He helped translate for me when visiting groups of artisans. Having a local who understood Western culture and spoke English very well, while also having a deep knowledge and strong passion of the area of Kutch, the history, geography and the various communities living here, meant I learnt so much more than I would have on my own.

Kuldip is very responsible, ethical and professional approach and his tour are fun, relaxed and friendly. He has good relationships with so many of the people round the region which means that you can visit them without feeling intrusive or awkward not being able to speak their language.

I kept in touch with Kuldip and met him again on a second trip in 2014, again to do research. We packed a lot into the day, and in between my research and work visits enjoyed the wildlife and sites of north and east Kutch. I really enjoyed our visits to the artisans - weavers, bandhani artisans, the rogan painter in Nirona and lacquer wood turners, and we had some fun and interesting discussions with them - something I wouldn't have experienced without the help of Kuldip. I got a deeper insight into the way of life of the local people in the region and met some wonderful people who I hope to stay in touch with.

I strongly recommend Kutch Adventures India for anyone wishing to experience the culture, nature and sites of Kutch in a meaningful and responsible way.

I come to India pretty much every year but have never been to Gujarat, Bhuj or Kutch. I discovered Kuldip and Kutch adventures during my research and must confess I was a little cynical of the outstanding reviews of Kutch Adventures. So often the reality is commercial mass tourism which has little regard of the indigenous people and the those of us who want to learn more about them. Our experience in Bhuj with Kuldip was completely different, he had a real respect for the artists and crafstmen of this relatively isolated area and a desire to improve their lives through sensitive and careful contact with us tourists. We spent a wonderful four days in Bhuj and stayed with Kuldip and his wonderful family at their home for three days enjoying conversations with them and other visitors and learning a little about Bhuj and Kutch and the amazing work produced by local artists and artisans and travelling far and wide in Kuldips little car. I can honestly say that our stay was one of our most memorable times in 20 years of travelling throughout India. we visited small and isolated villages way off the beaten track and learnt much about the lives of the villagers under Kuldips excellent guidance. Whilst, at the end of the day we are only tourists Kuldip and his family made us feel welcome and special. For anybody who wishes to learn a little about the India and a life that is probably fast dissapearing Kutch Adventures offers a real opportunity to engage with the wonderful people of Kutch. Kuldip has a real desire to ensure that tourism is of real benefit to those people who are often ignored by the juggernaut of mass tourism. Well done Kuldip and may you continue in your well deserved success!

We had such a great stay with Kuldip and his family, they made us very welcome, had some great conversations and his mother is a phenomenal cook! The reviews here really speak for themselves, Kuldip is committed to responsible tourism in Kutch and passionate about the area - the communities, the landscape and the history. Having got in touch with Kuldip prior to our trip he instantly put me at ease, finding out what our interests were so he could design a schedule which was tailored to our needs. We spent 4 days with him at the end of November 2014, this was a good time to go because the season hadn't quite started so it was not too busy with the holiday season. We visited local artisans, learning about the different techniques of embroidery, pottery, weaving, block printing and tie dye. Kuldip was always on hand to translate and answer any questions we had. We saw and walked in some stunning landscapes, it was so peaceful and beautiful. We definitely recommend Desert Adventures, it was such a special experience.

After visiting chaotic cities like Delhi and Mumbai, I was so glad to arrive in peaceful Bhuj. I spent four days in Kutch and it was simply amazing! Kuldip is the best company to explore the region with all his passion and knowledge about the local culture. We watched beautiful sunsets and sunrises in nature, visited local handicrafts and rural villages, went to the salt desert and also to the beach... The diversity and beauty of Kutch will surprise you! I also stayed in his house with his lovely family, the food was great and the hospitality was so warm and kind! Definitely recommended!

My husband, friend and I recently had 5 weeks in India of which 5 days were spent in Kutch, with Kuldip Ghadhvi, the owner of Desert Adventures as our local guide. Kuldip is very knowledgeable about the people and the history of Kutch. As well, he has a keen interest in the environment and conservation, and he is eager to acquire more knowledge.

We explored the capital Bhuj on a heritage tour and visited several remote villages where the villagers were not always used to tourists. However, Kuldip was able to put them at their ease, and we were welcomed in to see their craftwork. We met many artisans, for example, leather workers, weavers, embroiderers, and blockprinters. We were introduced to many different communities, with different dress and embroidery styles, and came to know a part of India which is not often visited by tourists. We also visited Mandvi on the coast and saw dhows being built using techniques which are hundreds of years old. Kuldip advertises colourful culture, community and off the beaten trails adventures and this is certainly what we experienced with him. A very impressive guide with a quiet and gentle nature who can also do yoga headstands on mountain tops as the sun sets slowly into the west.

For all lovers of Indian textiles and for all those who love to travel through desert areas I would like to recommend Kutch Adventures India, Bhuj, Gujarat.
According to your interests Kuldip Gadvi guides you over sandy roads to tribal villages with textile treasures and through exciting landscapes of the Banni semi desert area around Bhuj up to the salt desert. Spending time on the road he is telling the history of the people of Kutch, drawing your attention to nature, singing local songs….
After the earthquake that severely damaged the Kutch area in 2001 Kuldip was involved in several rehabilitation programs in remote villages. He learned to know all different tribal people, made a lot of friends and has a deep respect and pride for the people of Kutch. To this day he’s fascinated by the stories people tell him.
Kuldip combines knowledge, enthusiasm and a genuine respect and love for the culture and nature of Kutch.
I travelled several times through India and I’m used to doing it on my own. As I didn’t have much time to prepare and I wanted to be sure to see a lot of textile workshops I asked Kuldip to organize a tour.
I can also recommend the homestay when you like to enjoy the hospitality of his warm family.
Touring with Kuldip was a pleasure and a privilege!

I went on a three day tour of the Kutch region with Kuldip of Kutch Adventures India and had a very memorable time. It was definitely a highlight of my travels in India. Over the course of the three days, we covered Bhuj, surrounding handicraft villages, Mandvi (to see the beach and ship building), and the Great Rann salt desert. The itinerary was very well organised according to my interests, and I found Kuldip to be extremely knowledgeable and friendly. However, what really struck me was how warmly he was welcomed everywhere we went. Prior to starting his tour business, Kuldip worked at a local NGO and is intimately acquainted with many villages in the region. He's well known in the community, and his tours focus on lesser known artisans and villages to help uplift them and give them recognition. I learned a great deal from interacting with the people, and it was fascinating to learn about their work and way of life. Kuldip also has a homestay in Bhuj, which I stayed at. The accommodations are attractive and comfortable, and his family is sweet and welcoming. Highly recommended!

We took a two day tour around kutch with kuldip and it was great! He has many personal relationships with the locals in the small villages and you can tell there is a lot of mutual respect between parties.
He is also very informative and a very safe driver. No horns, very relaxing.
White desert rocked my world!!
