- Michael A0 contributionsAmazing and authentic way to get to know and experience the beautiful city of Medellin.TLDR: Must take tour in Medellin. My tour guide was Camilo. I was picked up right at my hotel and immediately felt like I met an old friend who was going to show me around. We drove around while he gave me details and history about Medellin. He actively answered my questions, we had great discussion on a variety of topics. Camilo made sure I was attended to at every stop and gave me plenty of time to take photos and take photos for me. I was able to get a sense of the city I had not had before and am very grateful for the time Camilo spent showing me the true Medellin. I strongly recommend the tour. The price is more than justified after having experienced the tour. I have a list of additional places to visit in Medellin thanks to Camilo after asking for several recommendations.Written 26 September 2024

We had a lovely private trip to Guatape! Our guide, Sebastian informed us of the history of the region, gave us tips on how to get the best pictures and even served as our personal photographer 😊 he was strategic in the order that we did things to avoid crowds where possible.
We left from Medellin and drove 1.5 hours to a 40 min boat ride in El Peñol where we got to see the Peñon rock from a far as well as some nice houses and historic
Landmarks. The boat sells light refreshments and plays music.
From there, the next stop was a replica town of a city where we took pictures and shopped for souvenirs.
We went to the big rock and climbed it next. We were given ample time to do whatever we wanted. The view from the top was well worth the hike up (about 700 concrete steps).
Next up was lunch in Guatape. Sebastian gave us information about the town as we drove through. We werent impressed by the lunch provided but were told that the same restaurant would not be used again going forward.
We ended the trip with a walk through the Guatapé town and a scenic ride home.
We loved the experience and highly recommend a private tour vs going with a larger group. All of our needs were catered to and Sebastian was very mindful of us not getting car sick since that was a concern for us.
This was our first time in Colombia Traveling from nyc and we felt completely safe

We decided to go to this private tour on a suggestion of our hotel in Medellin. Totally worth the money! Our guide Sebastian was amazing, he shared a lot of stories with us during the day.
He picked us up at our hotel perfectly on time, after one hour we stopped for a little snack and then we arrived in Penol. From there we took a boat tour around the lake which was lovely, then we continued to Piedra del Penol where we spent two hours between climbing and enjoying the view! He got us ticket and took lovely pictures of us. Then he brought us to a lovely lunch place in Guatape with a fantastic view of the lake (lunch was included!) and then we walked together in the colourful streets of Guatape, which is probably the most stunning place we visited in Colombia. A must while you are in Medellin.
Overall it's much more expensive than any shared group tours you can find online, but I honestly believed we would not have enjoyed the day the same way. We did everything at our own pace and the guide added so much value! Would recommend to anyone!

Juan-David was a a great guide, full of energy and his fluency in English really helped bring the tour alive. It was a busy public holiday in Colombia so crowds were inevitable but he did his best to make it as smooth an experience as possible and the views were really worth it. The visit to the coca shop in the village was a highlight!

WOW! What an amazing day at Guatape and Camilo was an amazing guide. Camilo made sure I would have an unforgettable experience. As a solo traveler, Camilo went above and beyond his actual job title, helping me with getting a SIM card, showing me how the Colombian Peso was counted and making me feel safe. Any tour you take with Camilo will be an experience you will never forget.

La piedra del Peñól is Simply Mesmerizing! Climbing the stairs to the top; worth the workout, It gets rewarded with the spectacular views! My family and I got picked up at our hotel by one of the guides from Camantours, then continued our trip to Guatape. Once there, we boarded a boat to do a river tour. During this boat ride the guide gives us an inside, while passing Escobar's properties and burned out houses, tales or theories of all his money buried underground and the fascinating story of how a long time ago, this city was drowned, rebuilt into a river and now is a tourism destination. The whole trip is amazing and a must do while in Medellin. Our great, fun and friendly tour guide Camilo made this experience one of the best our family has ever had.

We had a wonderfull day with our guide Eddy, who gave us a lot of information about Medellin and Colombia. Eddy speaks perfectly English. Guatapé and El Peñol are both beautiful as the 1,5 drive from Medellín is too!
After this day Tour we also decided to book additional tours with our guide Eddy to Comuna 13 and the more controversial Escobar Tour.

We had the best trip to Guatape wish Camilo. We were in doubt to book a private tour or group tour. We didn’t want our tour to be hectic which a group tour always is so we started searching private tours . There are few private tours listed which are cheaper than what Camilo and company charged but I can bet you every penny paid with Camilo is worth and far better than any other tours .Camilo is so patient , he does not rush you and has good knowledge on the history of all the places he stops on the way and in Guatape. He took us to best places for coffee , shopping and lunch . He helped us taking pictures , translating Spanish to English on our behalf everywhere. He knows amazing English . Camilo is very decent , trust worthy and awesome tourist guide. If you want a relaxing and amazing tour to Guatape then visit would recommend going with Camilo!

Going to Guatape with Camilo was one of the best tours I've ever experienced. He is highly knowledgeable about the entire region. He is on-time and completely flexible. Even before making it to Guatape, he brought our entire group to grab supplies and pan buono (a delicious bread filled with cheese), which was a great treat. Once we arrived at Guatape, it was obvious it would be an unforgettable experience. La Piedra was fantastic. Climbing the stairs and descending them is not for the feint of heart, the views from the top reveal a landscape of lakes and nature that have no rival in the world. Camilo also brought us into town, where we had a relaxing afternoon surrounded by primary colors, umbrellas, and good food. If you are in Medellin for a few days, this tour is a must!

Our Guatape excursion was an incredible experience mainly because of our tour guide John. He speaks multiple languages fluently and was able to give us a detailed history behind The Replicas, The Rock and the town of Guatape. We were introduced to owners of restaurants, shops and other locals forming new friendships for future travel to Medellin! All the other aspects you would expect from a top-notch tour company such as promptness, customer service, clean vehicles, friendliness and constant engagement were far above and beyond for what turned out to be one of the least expensive private tour guides listed!!! Absolutely using this crew again, thanks to them and the lovely people of Guatape for hosting such an amazing experience!!!! 🙏🏽

The tour was cemeteries around me and my convenience. Camilo accommodated me with an early pick up so I would beat all of the holiday travelers. Josh picked me up right on time and I never felt any pressure to rush or be in a hurry. The whole tour was based on my pace. Josh took care of everything for me and I didn’t have to do anything other than show up and enjoy. The whole experience made me feel like a VIP and I had an excellent experience. I would highly recommend this tour and the other tours offered through the agency.
