About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 539nardas0 contributionsInformative and fun!Legaxy is an excellent guide! He was knowledgeable, friendly, polite and fun. He speaks excellent English. We appreciated all his tips on places to go after our tour. Highly tecommend!Written 5 December 2024
- Kate C0 contributionsWhen “Too Good to Be True” Exceeds Expectations! When searching for excursions for our visit to the historic Cartagena walls, we stumbled upon the Foodie Tour, boasting an exceptional 4.9-star rating. At first, we were a bit skeptical, as the price seemed too good to be true compared to other tours offering similar services. However, based on the glowing reviews, we decided to give it a shot—and to our delight, it far exceeded our expectations! Our tour kicked off at 10:30 AM, and right from the start, we were seated and served a delicious traditional dish that set the tone for an incredible culinary experience. Pro tip: Do not make the same mistake we did—have a very light breakfast, because you will get FULL by the end of this tour! While every stop featured amazing dishes and a rich variety of flavors, the true star of the experience was Dani, our guide. Her passion and knowledge about Cartagena’s history and cuisine were unmatched. Dani didn’t just guide us through the food but also enriched the tour with fascinating insights about the city’s culture and heritage. If you’re considering this tour, we highly recommend it—and be sure to request Dani as your guide. She truly elevated the experience and ensured it was not just a tour, but a memorable journey through Cartagena’s culinary and historical treasures. You won’t be disappointed!Written 4 December 2024
- Mark G0 contributionsDelicious & informative way to explore CartagenaThis tour was great! Over the course of 10 stops and 3 hours we tried a delicious variety of local Cartagena food & drinks. Our tour guide Dani provided insightful details about the items we sampled, making it part history / culture tour as well. Highly recommended!Written 4 December 2024
- 641destinyh0 contributionsGreat tour!Robert was our tour guide and was great! We were a group of 10 and he made sure we all stayed together through the streets of Cartagena. We tried foods at 8-9 different stops, all with authentic Colombian food. The stop with the ceviche was amazing! This tour is great for anyone wanting to try authentic Colombian street food.Written 28 November 2024
- tyduval0 contributionsLoved our food tour - Alvaro David was a great guide!!We did this tour with our two adult children, aged 23 and 19. Alvaro David did a great job on the tour!! His joy, enthusiasm, and knowledge were evident and made the tour even better. We visited 9 different places and had a lot of wonderful food - including ceviche mixto, patacones with local cheese, and pan de bolo - and drink - including local beers and drinks. In addition to the food tour, we got a lot of great information about the history of the city as well. We would highly recommend this tour, especially if you can go with Alvaro David!!Written 27 November 2024
- E8023UUrachelk0 contributionsAmazing tour!!Great tour with Alvaro who was super friendly and showed us around some great food spots - one of the best things in Cartagena to do, can’t recommend enough!Written 21 November 2024
- Ellen B0 contributionsAuthentic and enjoyable taste of Cartagena!Wonderful experience with Daniella! She was very friendly and knowledgeable about all the food types. She carried visual descriptions, was well spoken in English and provided us with a fun 2 hour tour in the old town of Cartagena. We sampled many types of food and drink in ample portions. Most of the stops were street food types (very good and authentic), but we also had opportunities for bathroom stops. Meet up was easy to find and Daniella even walked us back to the starting point and offered to assist us with getting our Uber back to the ship. Highly recommend this tour!Written 15 November 2024
- I5588GYalia0 contributionsA must do in Cartagena!Alvaro was an amazing tour guide! Everything was delicious and was extremely informational. Highly recommend if you have limited time in Cartagena and want to get a good sense of the local food and learn about the cityWritten 13 November 2024

- Relax287714977300 contributionsGreat way to learn about the walled city.Alvaro was an excellent guide. Shared the history and was very knowledgeable and recommended a restaurant in Getsemani that had the best Snapper and ceviche. Great way to spend an afternoon in Cartagena.Written 11 November 2024
- Ashley R0 contributionsHelpful and funWe had a great time on this food tour. We didn’t get to stay the whole time due to our cruise cutting our time short, but Daniela worked so hard on our behalf to help us experience as much as possible. She also helped us coordinate our ride back to the port. She was so funny and nice. We wished we could have experienced all the food, but what we had was yummy and fun!Written 8 November 2024
- Y5620WAscotta0 contributionsStreet food for allHad a great time! Albero R showed us all the best local street food. Explained preparation, told us about ingredients all while shepherding us safely throughout the cobble-stoned lanes. I highly recommend this experience and if you are lucky Albero will be your gourmet guide!Written 2 November 2024
- 65jayeg0 contributionsStreet Tour De B(u)enoRobert was our exceptional tour guide and it ended up being a private tour (hopefully the other couple was able to reschedule), which made it all the more intimate. He gave us the history of Cartagena’s rich foods and we learned about the different foods and cuisines of the different regions of Colombia as we tried literally everything on our ten stops. Robert also made sure we were safe during our tour with emphasis on proper food handling and he provided reassurances about our specific dietary restrictions. The seafood ceviche was among my favorite dishes (my wife couldn’t try due to her dietary restriction) but we both loved the patacones (it was a callback to our Haitian roots as well) with cheese, the egg arepa, and my wife’s favorite was the cocada from the “Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory” stand within The Walls. The cheesy bread (and the accompanying beverage) at Pan de Bono was also exactly as advertised! Muy delicioso! This was our second Nexperience of our weeklong trip in Cartagena and it, like our previous walking tour, did not disappoint! 10/10.Written 1 November 2024

I absolutely love learning about the soul of a city when I’m out of the country and Mercedes gave us just that. The love that she has for her city comes out in this tour and made me even more excited to spend hours walking around. I highly recommend doing this at the beginning of your trip because it allows you to get familiar with your surroundings as there’s not many signs. It’s five stars for me. For the food, the art, the music and the people! Enjoy!!

The tour was better than expected. Camilo was an excellent English speaking guide. He had tons of interesting historical facts of various areas of the city. He was personable and made the tour fun. He even helped my wife with her Spanish. This tour was well worth our money and I would recommend it to everyone especially newcomers to Cartagena.

With full confidence I recommend this tour, listening to the rich history of Cartagena from Ingrid's voice makes it a pleasant walk.
Personally, I believe that walking the streets is walking through those vestiges of moments that built the city, it is reliving a past that wants to be told.
So, if you want to take away knowledge and stories from this place, this is the tour you should take... open to questions, stopping to admire each key point and having the accompaniment of your private guide.
I recommend that the tour be in the afternoon to enjoy the sunset and the nightlife of this part of Cartagena.
Thank you very much for this experience, see you soon❤️❤️❤️

Four of us (2 couples) booked a private tour at the beginning of February, 2023. Camilo, our guide was fantastic! We had a great time with him and learned so much about Cartagena. He clearly continues to learn about the city and history, and is passionate about his tour guiding. The four of us highly recommend Camilo!! We are only sad that we couldn't remember where he said his mom worked; we would've loved to go say hi and tell her what a wonderful tour guide her son is.

We had a tour with Liz around the city wall of Cartagena. It was a very good experience. She has a very good knowledge of the area and the history. But one thing that stood out about her tour is that she is willing to share part of her personal stories that make it more interesting. How I wish I am better with my Spanish but Liz has a very good command in English. Go book your walking tour with her and you will be very happy.

I had an amazing time with the host of this activity "Manuel", he kept me and my mom safe, he was friendly, informative, patient, respectful, and had a great personality/ sense of humor. The experience of the private walking tour was just mindblowing due to the deep history behind the "Walled City & Gestsemani", and the history behind Cartegena as a whole. The city was sublime, very cultured, free, lively, and refreshing, therefore, I'd rate this activity with host "MANUEL" a 10/10, I highly recommend him.

Our tour guide Amaury was awesome! He was extremely knowledgeable and clearly loves sharing the history and culture of his city. He provided a detailed history about Cartagena guiding us through the historic and artistic districts. He was patient, allowing us plenty of time to take pictures and absorb the information he was sharing. We never felt rushed. We went on a late afternoon tour, and the lights went out in the city towards the end of our excursion. Amaury helped us navigate safely through the end of the tour. We expressed an interest in eating local food, and he escorted us to a restaurant with Colombian fare that also had lights. 😍 We were grateful for our time with Amaury.

Liz was so awesome, she is the epitome of historian. She knows so much about the people the culture the foods the places to go or. Or to go. You can tell she’s well known in the community because as we walked everyone greeted her with such a big smile. I absolutely recommend taking this tour and if you can ask for Liz and she will not disappoint.

Our tour started by disembarking the ship, we took the shuttle to the terminal as it’s a good 15 to 20 minute walk, as you leave the shuttle you walk through this great zoo, which is a great plus on your way to the port exit, once we exit the port we followed the exit signs to the main highway, called Gas Station exit, there’s a gas station across the street, our tour guide Camilo was standing with a sign in the median with my name on it. Lucky I saw him or we would have walked to the gas station! Camilo was an excellent guide, so much knowledge of the city & the Walled City part, spoke fairly good English. He kept the street vendors away from us, trying to sell their good. They were not pushy. You say no thank you and they walk away. The tour was excellent. Thank you Camilo!
Only negative was in my eyes lack of communication from the tour operator,
We got our detailed instructions the day before the tour, meaning you must purchase wifi in order to get the instructions via email. 1st email, did not mention how we were meet the guide, just at gas station exit. I reached out via email, ask how will he know it’s us or us know who he is? I got a 2nd email, saying he will be holding a sign with our names on it. Still confusing once you get outside the port exit, lots of people, as we we were crossing the 4 lane highway lucky I saw our guide with my name. Once you finish your tour, transportation back to the port is not included. Requires a $10 taxi ride back, Camilo arranged this for us.
Personally I think there should be more detailed instructions in the email to start with instead of going back and forth.
