My email to China Discovery started in April, 2024 for a trip to Cheng du in September. Our travel consultant Phoebe Gao from Chengdu office was patience and extremely helpful. She had put together our customised private tour travel itinerary which was very well organised, well paced and very enjoyable. Pheobe is always prompt in replying any queries that i had. There was a little hiccup along the way but it was quickly resolved by Phoebe. She even went an extra mile to help us book for 蜀宴赋 after our tour ended. In fact, i am already contacting her for another trip to Harbin in Feburary 2025, that shows how happy and satisfied i am with them.

Our contact in China Discovery (CD) was Shirley Yang. She was very knowledgeable and patient in answering our queries. It was my first time on a cruise and she gave me the confidence to commit to the Yangtze River Cruise. The actual journey was calm and smooth so I really did not suffer any bad effects during the entire cruise. Shirley also assisted in matters outside of the cruise such as bookings on the high speed rail and how to get Didi rides once on land. We really enjoyed our time in Chongqing and took some local tours there as well as Yichang where the cruise ended.

My husband and I have just returned to Canada after a memorable and fulfilling trip to the magical and surreal terrain of Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong (altitude 5K meters) in Sichuan province, southwestern China. We were part of a fairly large group of Canadians on an 18-day tour of China, which began and ended in Beijing, with an emphasis on the eastern provinces of Shaanxi and Shanxi. While contemplating whether to visit major urban areas such as Shanghai or Tianjin, or the resort-like Hainan Island, after the initial 18-day tour, a photo of Jiuzhaigou flashed across my PC monitor. I was mesmerized, as Jiuzhaigou has been on my radar. Realizing that our timing would be in late September, I began actively researching how to make it happen. A bit of a snag here, as our trans-Pacific flights had been booked months prior, I had to ensure that our dates in Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong were firm, that the travel operator we chose was trustworthy. I stumbled upon China Discovery, read numerous travellers’ review, which had reinforced my trust. I made an initial inquiry in early June 2024, and Rita Jiang responded within 24 hours. Rita exhibited professionalism and expertise by asking all the right questions. Through multiple email exchanges and online discussions, we firmed up our 6-day itinerary September 23-28, 2024, visiting Jiuzhaigou, Huanglong, Emeishan and LeShan Buddha. Our return flight dates (to Canada) removed any flexibility for joining a group, therefore, ours became a 2-person private tour. We had considered flying from Beijing to Chengdu, the jump-off point to Jiuzhaigou. I was surprised at the pricey domestic airfare within China. We then chose the high-speed train as our mode of transport for the 9/23-9/28/2024 itinerary. The major deterrent was that, seats on China trains are released only 15 days prior. We chose to travel 1st class, as the rates were not much higher than 2nd class, yet much more modest than Business Class seats. Logistically, we would have been unable to get online to book our train seats to Jiuzhaigou, while we were still on the tour with fellow Canadians. I delegated our itinerary between 9/23 and 9/28 to Rita Jiang at China Discovery, all transfers, including an 8-hour high-speed train on 9/28, upon conclusion of our 6-day trip, which brought us from Chengdu, Sichuan province, to Hong Kong, where we would fly back to Canada. Rita delivered, professionally and seamlessly. Upon full payment of our excursion in late August 2024, Rita sent us a formal contract, outlining the entire itinerary, with English-language guide and driver on 4 sightseeing days, and driver only for transfers on day #1 and day #6. We communicated via WeChat while inside China. She sent us our train schedules via WeChat. Our guides were absolutely fantastic. A HUGE “shout out” to Evan from Chengdu. Evan spoke impeccable English, has a strong command of English and an extensive English vocabulary. We appreciated his knowledge, expertise and extra care he took to accompany us to Emeishan and LeShan Buddha. Danny in Jiuzhaigou provided good service. The 3 drivers Rita had engaged were prompt and professional. The SUV’s deployed to ferry us back-and-forth were new, well-maintained, clean and tidy. Our itinerary covered 2-2.5 hours’ driving distance between the recently inaugurated Jiuzhaigou Huanglong Rail Station to Jiuzhaigou and back, also 2.5 hours’ drive between Chengdu and Emeishan. I would readily engage Rita Jiang and China Discovery for any of my future travel planning and execution plans in China. Thumbs up to Rita Jiang and her team of professionals.

We had an incredible trip visiting Guilin ! The guide provided us with fascinating insights about China. The excursions were perfectly organized, and the views were absolutely breathtaking. The hotel in Yangshuo was the best we could have hoped for. Prior to the trip, Mrs Zeng from the agency was very responsive and helped us personalize our tour based on our preferences. I highly recommend China Discovery for anyone looking for a unique and seamless experience in China.

Leo Li kindly arranged a private tour for us (my girlfriend and myself) providing a driver and a guide for us at every city we visited. The guides were very informative, but, more importantly, they became our friends as they helped give us a deeper understanding of their lovely country. We are especially grateful that Leo was able to “squeeze in” a tour of the fabled Silk Road, an area which few Westerners visit and was a highlight our trip. Thank you, Leo, for making this a memorable trip.

Thank you so much to Wonder for organising the trip and to the amazing tour guides Jack, James and Jeff for taking us around. As part of our tour we visited Beijing, Zhangjiajie and Shanghai. Beijing was brilliant there was so much to see and it was amazing to see the Great Wall of China. Our guides were very knowledgeable and filled us in on a lot of history and information about the cities. They also took us to lovely restaurants and would always recommend great dishes. Zhangjiajie was so relaxing and tranquil and I’ve never come across such beautiful landscapes. Towards the end of the trip there was a few amendments to the itinerary due to flight changes and Wonder was very quick to make new arrangements for the flight and hotel which we really appreciate. Our last stop was Shanghai which was also stunning and it was interesting seeing the new and old so close together. We would throughly recommend the tour and would definitely use China Discovery again. Thank you to all the team

Many thanks to our tour consultant, Jack Li from China Discovery for recommending the best route to go around Yunnan (i.e. Kunming to Dali, Dali to Lijiang, Lijiang to Shangri-La, Shangri-La to Deqin) and managing to squeeze in the attractions that we have requested. He has also responded to all of our inquiries promptly from the beginning to the end of the tour and handles the issues we faced in regards to the hotel in Shangri-La promptly and swiftly. We also wish to record our satisfaction with our guides, especially Lobsang (in Shangri-La), for his attentiveness, cheerful attitude and impeccable service in making this a memorable tour. We would like to thank our driver who was with us from Dali all the way to Shangri-la for his impressive driving skills, expertly navigating along the narrow roads, giving us a nice and smooth ride throughout the tour. My wife and I booked Yunnan, China trip through China Discovery. Evelyn is a trip advisor from China Discovery. She had arranged for our Yunnan trip, and it was one of the best trip I've ever had. I worked with Evelyn on the schedule for locations and hotels as well as other details on the trip. Evelyn is a fantastic trip advisor. She made the arrangements to our satisfaction. We had 4 different travel guides for different locations. I give them comments below. Kunming: We went to Stone Forest and Jiuxiang cave. Daisy was our guide. She went above and beyond to make our trip as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Her English is excellent and her acknowledge to places we visited is such incredible. We were so impressed and appreciated her companion. Daisy made our trip enjoyable and memorable. Dali: Alice was our guide in Dali. Alice is an experience tour guide. My wife did not like the places we visited so we made a change on our itinerary. Alice contacted Evelyn about the change. Evelyn accommodated the change and sent us new itinerary right away. We had a great time in Dali. Lijiang: We went to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Black Dragon Pool Park, Blue Moon Valley and Lugu Lake. They are breathtaking sceneries. Sandy was our tour guide. He was friendly and genuine. Shangri-La: One of recommended place to visit while in China. Tenzin was our tour guide. He was an average tour guide. In overall, my wife and I enjoyed our tour through China Discovery and we don't hesitate to book another tour or recommend its services to others.

We had a wonderful time travelling to Chongqing, along the Yangtze River, Zhangjiajie and Nanjing! China Discovery was able to customise our itinerary for our private tour, and our travel consultant, Rita was able to quickly adjust our trip itinerary when our flight to China initially got cancelled. The trip was very well-planned - allowing us to maximise the number of sights we saw while ensuring the pace was not too hectic and tiring for us. While there were slight hiccups, the local tour guides were very helpful in addressing any issues we had along the way! When our flight back to Singapore got cancelled because of Typhoon Bebinca, the Nanjing tour guide and driver made sure we got to the airport the next day safely to catch the flight that we rebooked. The local tour guides also gave very good restaurant recommendations, so that we could try the delicious local cuisine. All in all, a pleasant experience booking our trip through China Discovery!

Our travel consultant Wing Zeng was with us right from the beginning to put together our customized private small group travel itinerary, travel details and thru out the whole trip while we were in China and HK. We were able to communicate via emails and phone calls. Wing is always prompt, patient and detail in helping us with any details or issues. The whole trip went just as planned and smoothly and we got to see and hike the beautiful Huangshan and Zhangjiajie mountains!! The scenery of both mountains are just out of this world! All local guides and drivers at each location are knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating ! - Our contact in China Discovery (CD) was Leo Li. He replied all our e-mail and questions very promptly and patiently. Both Yu the Shanghai guide and Anna the Huangshan one were ok and had an adequate command of English. - We were taken to the Shanghai Museum on People's Square but most of its treasures had already moved to the new building across the river. - During our free time in Zhujiajiao water town, we visited the Garden of Inseparable Hearts which was next to Kezhi Garden. I believe both are lovely and should be recommended as an option by the guide/CD. - A night up in Huangshan is advisable, as weather on our 1st day wasn't clear enough to see and enjoy the scenery while it cleared up for a while during the next day, affording some great pics. - Similarly, to see more of Hongcun, or enjoy its night lights, I would recommend staying a night in the ancient village proper, rather than outside it. Otherwise, I felt that the 3-4 hours in Xidi and Hongcun combined was rather tight/rushed for us. - Hotels and their breakfast were satisfactory but be prepared for compact rooms up in Huangshan. - Very good and smooth trip overall (although we missed our train back to Shanghai due to a misunderstanding on the platform and had to buy new tickets for a later train). Planning our next trip now with CD.

Wonder Wang from China Discovery was assigned to us as our travel consultant. He was friendly, professional, flexible and attentive to all our requirements. He went above and beyond for us, nothing was ever too much. We visited Beijing, Xian, Chengdu, Chongqing, Yichang, and Shanghai. The hotels, transfers, personal tour guides for each City, and cruise were great and all very well planned. All our questions, in advance, and during the trip were responded to over email very quickly and we felt very well looked after by a profession team. Our itinerary was over 13 days, visiting Beijing, Xian, Chengdu, Chongqing, a Yangtze river cruise and Shanghai. We got to see and experience a lot in that time. The local guides were fantastic in their knowledge, English and were very helpful. The drivers were very prompt and provided smooth transfers. A huge plus point for us was the constant communication, our emails were answered by Wonder very swiftly and even during our trip, there were changes to our flights, etc. which Wonder handled so efficiently. This certainly put our minds at ease!
