About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Mindy U0 contributionsOne of the best toys ever because of our outstanding tour guide Nick.We had one of the best tours ever because of our amazing tour guide, Nick. He was informative, charming, entertaining, and easy-going. He showed us all the sites. He suggested we take the one year old cable car all the way to the top and back and we did. The four of us had the best day with Nick and was a highlight of our cruise. Thank you Nick!!Written 17 November 2024
- jellis220 contributionsBeware - make sure the driver knows the rate before you start your day.Beware -- although we did enjoy a very nice morning at Perast and the Lady of the Rocks, followed by the cable car, the day was spoiled when our driver demanded almost twice the amount that we had negotiated. I showed him the reservation emails between myself and the office, but he insisted we owed him more than the negotiated rate. On top of this, he claimed his credit card reader wasn't working so we had to go to an ATM in the town to withdraw cash. In subsequent emails with the company they claimed there was miscommunication due to language and they have offered a credit to be used in the future! We will never use this company again.Written 27 October 2024

- jiannap20220 contributionsTour of Kotor and PerastLazar (I don’t know if I spelled it correctly) was our driver, he was great and very nice! We saw two panoramic viewpoints of Kotor and got an allotted hour at Perast to go around the town. It was beautiful! Definitely recommend if you come here to Kotor.Written 30 May 2022
- Christine M0 contributionsA brilliant experienceWe booked the gulet holiday called Jewels of the Adriatic through Secret Escapes. The outbound flight from Gatwick was delayed which meant that instead of arriving at Tivat airport - about a ten minute dive from the boat - we landed at Podgorica and had a 2 hour journey by coach to get to Tivat. Once we got on the boat we had a brief welcome meeting and instructions about the boat and then were served with a lovely three course dinner. The boat has six cabins for 12 people. The cabins and shower rooms are tiny but there is ample seating up on deck for everyone to be comfortable. Unfortunately the published itinerary couldn't be completed because the open seas were too rough and our captain, Tripo, was concerned for our safety. Instead we spent a fantastic week in the calm and sheltered Bay of Kotor, visiting lovely little towns and beautiful sheltered bays where we could swim, kayak and fish if we wanted. The food on board was amazing. We couldn't believe how the cook, Dragana, managed to produce fantastic breakfasts and lunches for 11 people in a very small galley. She even made a surprise birthday cake for one of the guests. All three of the crew - Tripo the captain, Dragana the cook and cleaner and Namanya the captain's mate, the waiter and the barman - were friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them. I would thoroughly recommend this great experience in such a beautiful place.Written 6 October 2019
- 191suzannep0 contributionsBeyond ExpectationKotor, Montenegro is an amazing place to visit. Luca, our guide was fantastic. He was extremely informative about the area, also a funny man with good humor. We only had limited time in Kotor, we ported at around 7am and had to be back on ship by 2pm Luca was very reassuring on our time available at each area and still giving us plenty of free time to explore the different areas ourselves. Thoroughly enjoyed the area of Budva, the old gated area with little streets and great photo opportunities looking over the bay and old buildings. The landscape of Kotor is breathtaking.Written 18 September 2019
- BridRyder0 contributionsTaken for a Ride in KotorWe arrived into the Port of Kotor on Thursday 15th August. We were immediately greeted by this friendly young guy named Bojan. He was promising a wonderful private tour of the local area (personal driver, free time to explore and air conditioning in the car) We felt quite targeted as young tourists just off a cruise ship, as when we asked for a few minutes to think about it, he tried to charm us by showing us panoramic pictures and informing us that the driver is not a creepy old man. When we agreed to take the tour with Explore Montenegro, Bojan rang his driver Sergei and we were told that the car would arrive in less than 5 minutes. While we waited, Bojan made small talk, asking our ages and where we were came from. The car arrived quite promptly, however there was no communication between Bojan and the driver about the service that was to be provided. Initially this didn't seem strange as we assumed Sergei had given this tour many times. Bojan also claimed the driver Sergei was funny and had very good English. He would also give us detailed commentary as we drove through and past the local tourist sites. Sergei spoke broken English and his only fact about Kotor and the surrounding area was that "this is fish farm". When we asked what was on Queen's Rock he simply replied "Church" We were informed that payment would be taken at the end and that we would not have to pay the full amount unless we were completely satisfied. We assumed we would pay Bojan who would be waiting outside the ship when our tour finished but instead the driver dropped us by the old town and demanded that we pay up there and then. When we explained that we didn't have any cash on us and that we would pay Bojan before we got back on board the ship, as agreed, Sergei told us to get back into his car so that he could drive us to an ATM. We were not 100% satisfied with the tour so we decided to pay €30 each (instead of €40). Sergei counted the money and then called us back to his car where we had a lengthy and frustrating conversation with Bojan over the phone. Eventually we gave in and paid the remaining €20 out of our good grace. You cannot tell customers that you would prefer to not be paid at all rather than receive a bad TripAdvisor review and then demand they pay the full amount when the promised service is not provided.. There were also a number of times when the quality and safety of Sergei's driving came into question. He would often speed up and then slam on the brakes when a car in front wanted to make a turn. He also drove in the middle of the road (over the white line) and went quite fast around sharp corners/bends. He answered his phone while driving through the centre of Kotor. The worst part was that while driving in busy traffic, he leaned across towards the glove compartment and grabbed a piece of paper and a pen, then turned around and asked us to sign our names.. why this couldn't have waited until the end of the trip or when the car was stopped in a safe space bewilders me! He then spent the next few minutes trying to read our names on the piece of paper that lay on the passenger seat rather than concentrating on the road on front of him.. I would strongly advise anyone who visits Kotor or any of its surrounding towns to avoid Explore Montenegro Travel Agency... Even though the other tour providers might be more expensive they will surely be better quality!!Written 17 August 2019

- eepsoid0 contributionsHoneymoon of dreamsI can’t recommend this company enough. When we decided to have our honeymoon in Montenegro, we came across this amazing apartment, Acacia Hills. I enquired as to the availability, through Explore Montenegro and got a swift and professional response from them and subsequently, after numerous emails back and forth, we booked with them. The payment process was unexpected - over the phone .. and a few alarm bells rang. I looked at their online reviews and they were scarce. Which of course worried me. I had no need to worry. The correspondence before our trip was 10 out of 10. Then to add to that, we had one on one contact with their rep... a wonderful man called Dusan who went above and beyond anything I’ve experienced. Firstly, they allowed us to book our dates outside of their standard check in days. Then, Dusan took time out of his day off on the Saturday we arrived, to come over to us and give us a full insight into what to do during our stay... with NO agenda. Nothing. He was on hand to us as and when we needed assistance and even booked us onto a day trip we’d seen on line for the same fee. Again, at no charge. Dusan is a credit to Explore Montenegro and we can’t wait to return. Incredible service and superb value. Thank you so much. XWritten 13 October 2018

- Sue L0 contributionsRafting on the Tara RiverAfter a chance meeting with Nikola in Kotor we booked a rafting trip for the final day of our holiday in Montenegro & what a day it was! Nikola greeted us promptly at 7am for the 3 hour drive into the mountains. All the way he was funny, charming & informative about his country. He made time for coffee & photo stops & the journey through amazing scenery just flew by. The rafting was a well organised adrenaline filled experience full of laughter & screams! Nikola took photos & videos which he sent to us later. We enjoyed breakfast, lunch & some local grappa there too! We returned 12 hours later tired but happy having had a wonderful day with our new friend! Thank you Nikola you made our final day a very special one! If you are visiting beautiful Montenegro you must contact Nikola - he's "simply the best"! Sue L. Exford UKWritten 17 July 2018

- Dezmorized0 contributionsSo Amazing!!!!If you have’t booked this yet, you’re crazy! Everything about this experience was fantastic, from out initial greeting to our last goodbye, the staff and crew where exceptional! 8 days 7 ports of call all up and down the Montenegro Adriatic coast on an 8 cabin boat with 4 crew members. Breakfast and lunch are included which was amazing by the way, our chef was awesome, cooking us local and fresh Montenegro cuisine. The boat was beautiful with plenty of space to lay out, play games or just relax in the shade with a drink from the bar. Each place they took us on the itinerary was unique with spectacular views, loads of food and plenty of shopping. Milos and the other crew members (I can’t remember their names 🙁) were so informative and helpful, friendly and fun, anything you needed was taken care of for you! All 16 of us that booked met as strangers and now have a What’s App group chat talking about booking together again next year. We met awesome people and had a wonderful time. So worth it!Written 18 June 2018
- nafisab0 contributionsThe Magic of MontenegroWe six friends landed in Montenegro without any pre planing and requested our hotel for an English guide . We were directed to this agency and were delighted to have their two guides Luca and Nikola who made the trip extra special. Nikola made the effort to plan our itenary for 3 days. He was quick to understand what we wanted and we got a taste of culture , food and the major attractions including rafting .( which we were all reluctant to try at first). His courteous manner and good sense of humor made the long arduous drives on some days really easy. Thanks Nicola for all your efforts to make this a super trip for us.Written 27 April 2018
