About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- davecT3819HI0 contributionsTHIS SITE IN DUBROVNIK SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM THE UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE AS IT DEMEANS THE UNESCO CREDIBILITYMy wife and I travell to Europe for a month every year for almost 20 years. This year we decided to stay for 2 months and visit 4 or 5 countries, one of which was the old town of Dubrovnik Croatia. What a disappointment!!! The businesses at this location have absolutely destroyed the the historical beauty with their greed motivated, cash cow approach in every single shop. Grossly over priced Asian junk mixed with rude, no personality emplyees that think they are doing you a favor by overcharging you? There is a gated parking lot that is close to the entrance of the old town fortress. We could not find a single sign that advertisedised parking rates. I am walking disabled and because of that we parked there. 5 hours later when we exited that parking lot, it cost us 50 Euros (75.00 Canadian) to leave that lot. I am from Toronto Canada and parking rates there are high, BUT nothing like this rip off!!. When you first enter the fortress, on your left there is a very long set of stairs that takes you up to the upper walkway of the fortress. If you want to suffer the painful walk to the upper area, it will cost you 35 Euros. (53.00 Canadian) Disgusting!!! If you want to use the bathroom that is by the tourist information centre, but controlled by the Hard Rock Cafe, some pee police employee of the Hard Rock Cafe will ask you for 2 Euros, No Euros, No Pee. This location has ZERO consideration for disabled people, but that does not surprise me given the fact of who they fought with in WW2!!. I am a Veteran and "Lest We Forget" There were a couple of so called official game of throne stores. In one of those stores they were selling " game of thrones POP" dolls (5 "high) for 33 Euros (over 50 Canadian Dollars). One of my sons sells those POP dolls on line in Canada for the equivalent of 9 Euros. Cruise ships visit this location as well and they dump most of their passengers on this site and the day we were there, there were 2 cruise ships in the harbour, so the cash cow frenzy on tourists was on a high note. IF YOU DOUBT WHAT I HAVE SAID, GO TO THE REVIEWS BY SO MANY OTHER PEOPLE WHO ARE SAYING EXACTLY THE SAME THING!!! They ALL say "over priced, greedy, rude, no personality, poor quality products, we will not go there ever again. UNESCO, this site has lost site of its historical importance and you need to review the status of your endorsement of Dubrovnik, it seriously brings your credibility into guestion. - Lauren T0 contributionsCrowded beyond words. Lovely though- come in off season!!!Croatia and Dobrovnick have been amazing… and the Old Town was lovely but honestly too crowded. The streets were mobbed with people… filled with American “Karen’s,” everyone being rude and entitled. I felt terrible for the locals who live there!!! Even at Buza Bar, people were just looking at social media on their phones… it was sad. If you want to experience the city, skip summer AND shoulder season… come in Oct or later. Make reservations in advance and really experience what this incredible city has to offer. Be kind and respectful to the people and animals that call Old Town home. Walk quietly and really take in the history and the views.Written 17 September 2022
