Panama City Sightseeing Tour Including Miraflores Locks
US$ 100.00
Overview
Combine a tour of the Panama Canal’s Miraflores Locks with a walking tour of Panama City’s UNESCO-listed Casco Viejo and a city driving tour to notable landmarks —it’s a full-day of sightseeing at the capital’s top attractions. Admire city views from atop Ancón Hill; visit a local market; see the Bridge of the Americas from the Amador Causeway; and more. This small-group tour runs with a maximum of nine people, ensuring personalized attention from your informative guide.
What to Expect
Start with morning pickup from the American Trade Hotel, and listen as your guide describes the engineering wonder of the Panama Canal en route to the Miraflores Locks, the first stop on your full-day tour. On arrival, witness ships being raised and lowered between sea level and Miraflores Lake, then enjoy interactive displays at the Miraflores Visitors Center.

Next up is Ancón Hill (Cerro Ancón), a 650-foot (200-meter) viewpoint that overlooks Panama City. After the drive up, stroll around the lookout platform and keep an eye out for armadillos, deer, tamarins and even elusive sloths!

Browse for local handicrafts at an artisan market before continuing south into Panama Bay and the Amador Causeway (Calzada de Amador), which connects the mainland to three small manmade islands. View the Bridge of the Americas and stop for lunch at one of the area’s many restaurants (own expense). After lunch, you'll head to the Smithsonian-operated Punta Culebra Nature Center on Naos Island for a 20-minute outdoor stroll around the open-air museum.

Back in Panama City, you’re driven to the 17th-century colonial neighborhood of Casco Viejo (‘Old Quarter’) for a 1.5-hour guided walking tour through the World Heritage–listed district. See landmarks such as the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Palacio de las Garzas (the residence of the President of Panama), the Church of St Francis of Assisi and the National Theatre as you learn little-known facts from your guide.

Your full-day tour ends with return to the central meeting point.

Excellent, tour was very helpful and guide (Mr Kevin) was very knowledgeable and patient. I highly recommend this tour: it took some hours instead of a few days on my own. Thanks

Our Barefoot Tour of Casco Viejo and the Miraflores Locks was very informative and well-timed. Our tour guide, Gonzo, spoke excellent English and as a native, was very knowledgeable of the area. He was a safe driver and got us to the Locks in time...More

We took our son and his family on this tour and it was perfect. History of the Canal Zone, trip on the locks and leisure time in great hotels.
