Meaningful trip, organized and hosted perfectly.
I worked with Funky Tours to create a private tour of Kosovo with very limited lead time due to finding some unexpected personal time in the region. Funky Tours was incredibly easy to work with, responsive, and the logistics were handled perfectly. I literally just had to show up and then was fully free to absorb the experience, learn, and reflect on the significant history of Kosovo. I was lucky enough to be paired with Ilir, who was a wonderful guide and very generous with his extensive knowledge and experience. He is very personable and absolutely nails the balance between being informative and offering conversation, as well as giving guests time to take things in or just enjoy the scenery. Ilir and Funky Tours were also incredibly accommodating and responsive to any requests to modify the itinerary and, after getting to know me, adjust to my pace and make the most use of time. I have the utmost respect for him and Funky Tours and I'm very grateful for the time I spent in Kosovo--though maybe not on your list of traditional tourist destination, it is a fascinating country full of warm, generous people. Kosovo deserves to be understood and appreciated.

        Amazing experience .
A fantastic trip. The tour guide was amazing . He was actually a war veteran and his knowledge was real and was an absolute star. Can't thank him enough for sharing his stories and explaining to us the history of the war.

        A must in Sarajevo!
Sarajevo is an amazing city, full of history, beauty and unique features. A complete visit to the city should include a full understanding of what sadly happened in the 90s, when Sarajevo was under siege for around 1.425 days...and the total siege tour gives you a true experience in this regard. It was my second visit to the war tunnel but seeing it through the honest eyes and words of our guide Adnan was really touching and special. He carefully explained what happened along those years, the implications for civilians and soldiers, also recalling his direct experience and impact in current life. Moreover, the other locations included in the tour (Jewish Cemetery, Olympic Mountain Trebević, Sniper Alley) helped to grasp the full context and see the city (and what happened) from different perspectives. The organisation of the tour was excellent, the booking process easy and reliable, and Amela was really great in managing everything. Absolutely a must when visiting Sarajevo, thanks again Funkytours!

        Beautiful tour
The tour was perfect. Our guide ADIS was very knowledgeable, considerate to the group needs and helpful with snacks and photos. The sites were just beautiful and the flow of the tour was a nice pace. I really enjoyed the day.

        Kosovo is amazing!!
We had the most amazing experience touring Kosovo with Funky Tours! My mom and I decided we wanted to do this at the last minute and they were able to accommodate us with a fantastic itinerary for our two-day tour. Our guide (Ilir) is a local survivor of the war in Kosovo and an ethnographer and was incredibly knowledgeable about the history and culture, both personally and professionally. He took great care of us and drove us all around the country, showing us Pristina, Prizren, Gjakova, Mitrovica, and Prekaz. We learned about how life for the ethnic Albanians changed so dramatically before and during the war. As Americans, we found it so healing to learn what a compassionate and tolerant religion Islam is. We really appreciated the ability to ask difficult and sensitive questions and to receive such straightforward and in-depth answers. This experience greatly enhanced our understanding of this small Balkan country and this region of Europe. We love Kosovo, plan to return, and would encourage others to explore and learn about the place. It is a very safe and welcoming country. We were surprised to find such a positive attitude toward Americans, and enjoyed seeing sculptures of Bill Clinton, Madeleine Albright, and Bob Dole! It was also very easy to get by speaking only English. Funky Tours is a great way to immerse yourself in a culture and get a realistic perspective on the history. We so appreciate the existence of this company and the unique opportunities they offer.

        Top Tour Company in Sarajevo
My experience with Funky Tours who I used when in Bosnia was overwhelmingly positive. Communications with the office prior to arrival was top notch- everyone seemed to go above and beyond in their effort to help (shout out here to Amela, Ema, Edna). Funky Tours facilitated my airport transfer on arrival and I did two of their tours: Sarajevo Walking Food Tour and the Total Siege Tour. Sarajevo Waking Food Tour: My personal guide was Emin and he was a fountain of knowledge. He took me on a fantastic walk through the city while sampling local delicacies. He was personable, intelligent, articulate and the whole experience was top notch. I have done a separate review for the Siege Tour. Thank you Funky Tours for your kind help and amazing tours!

A must do Tour in Sarajevo!
There is something really special about being given an account of history by someone who lived it. Being taken around by Adnan for 4 hours on an immersive and engaging tour layered with tales of personal experience was surreal. This tour is an absolute must for anyone wishing to delve deeper into the Bosnian wars of 1992-1995 and the siege of Sarajevo. Thank you Adnan and the Funky Tours Team!

        Our favourite ever tour
I’ve travelled all over Europe doing tours of cities by locals. This one blew my mind. We were lucky enough to have Adnan, who is quite honestly the most interesting person I have ever met, as well as being a fantastic guide. He is a fountain of knowledge and must’ve been sick of all the questions we asked by the end! The tour itself covers everything you could possibly want from the title. I will come back to Sarajevo just to do it again. Thank you, Adnan!

Edo was a great guide. He was kind and knowledgeable and shared his experience generously. Communication with Funky Tours was very good, and the local lunch was delicious. I recommend this trip to anyone who wants to learn about a very serious topic and time in history.

        4 day Croatia Sailing Tour
What a fantastic trip!!! Thanks FUNKY TOURS!!! The crew was awesome and the 4 day (3 nights) on board a catamaran with my family and a friend was just the thing we needed - A family sailing introduction on a comfortable catamaran. We started off in Sibenik, went to Skradin that afternoon to stay there the first night. The next day we made it out to Smokvica Bay - the little hike up the hill to see the sunset over the Kornati National Park is a must! The next morning we made it to Zlarin, our last overnight stop, before we spend another day sailing and swimming on our way back to Sibenik. The crew was very kind and easy and looked very well after us and was super flexible. Any time again ;-)

Poignant insight to the Bosnian war.
This tour was the highlight of our short trip to beautiful Sarajevo. We are all old enough to remember the war but our guide, Adnan (apologies if I've got his name wrong), who is a veteran of the war, explained why it happened and how it developed very clearly. The fact that he fought in the war made everything more real and very poignant. All the places visited are well worth it and all had a place in the story of the war. The only downside was the heavy fog up in the mountains which meant we didn't have the wonderful views of the city. The booking process and communication from the office was all excellent too. Highly recommended.

        Well organised and professional tours
We did 2 transfer tours, a day tour and walking tour of Sarajevo with Funky tours. The coordinators are all helpful and prompt in responding to our queries which we greatly appreciate. The tours were well planned and we were able to cover many sights within the day despite the short days during the winter season. All the tour guides assigned to us (Adnan, Ajla, Doris and Stefan) were very professional and took great care of us during the tour. We learnt a lot about the history of the country through their engaging sharing. They were also open about sharing their personal / family experiences during the Bosnian war helped to shed a a lot of misperceptions about this beautiful country. If we visit Eastern Europe again in future, we will definitely engage their services again cos we know we will be in good hands of the professional team.

        First time to B+H
We were looking for things to do and opted for the wine tour with Funky Tours. We travelled from Sarajevo and as a result of the railway line being out the train wasn't running. We arranged with them for two transfers Sarajevo To Mostar and then Mostar to Sarajevo with our tour sandwiched in the middle. Our tour guide Ajla (Isla) met us at the hotel along with the driver, they had selected 3 x local winery tours near to Mostar. The afternoon was fantastic with the weather helping to compliment the wine and local food. This was a slow and enjoyable afternoon with both Ajla and the staff at the locations we visited guiding us through our tasting. Also trying some of the spirits brewed at the winery's helped lubricate the afternoon. Both the journey to and from Mostar were leisurely and enjoyable with our drivers Humza and Tariq being very knowledgeable sharing their experience in living in Sarajevo through the war. I would recommend Funk Tours if you are looking to do small group guided tours. We were a group of 6 and the transport was comfortable for our journeys and tour. We had intended to make use of the train but wasn't able to do so, the guys in the office were able to help and will try and facilitate most of your requests to meet your needs. I will consider you again when i return, thank you for making a first trip to B+H an enjoyable one. Kind regards John, Byron, Peter, Grant, Phil and Jim.

Thank you Ema, Emir, and Senad for such a wonderul family tour and experience in Croatia and Bosnia. Emir and Senad were such great guides throughout the trip and made it a memorable family experience for us all. Thank you so much for introducing us to your home country of Bosnia and for introducing us to the history, cuisine, and culture of both Croatia and Bosnia. The locations, accommodations, and everything was just perfect for our family. We all had such memorable experiences. All of the local guides were great as well. In particular, the siege tour in Sarajevo was unforgettable and a transformative experience. It was just so well planned and executed. We are very thankful and appreciative of all of your hard work and the effort and attention! We cannot wait to come back to visit and to use Funky Tours again!

I highly recommend Funky Tours. Ema went out of her way to make sure we went everywhere we wanted to go and enjoyed our time there. Our guide, Adnan, spoke excellent English and was very knowledgeable.

Per my request, they also included Montenegro in our tour. I also did a separate day trip with them to Srebrenica, which included lunch with a Bosnian Muslim family. It was a great experience I’ll never forget!

I don’t often take guided tours, but when I do I want them to be exactly like the Funky Tours excursion from Sarajevo to Dubrovnik (via Mostar). My husband and I both said, there’s no way we could have navigated the logistics of all of these sites on our own and, even if we had, we 100% would have missed out on the incredibly nuanced history and anecdotes we learned. Adnan was so approachable and answered all of our questions so thoughtfully. Great experience through and through.

Almir was an extraordinarily knowledgeable, friendly, compassionate and great guy to spend a day learning and touring with. He weaves his personal experiences as a soldier during the war to powerfully inform current day realities. Funky provides responsive, creative itineraries at great value. We learned so much. What a great way to get from Dubrovnik to Sarajevo. We did the one long day version and it was packed but a good option versus two day version.

Dear Eric, we always strive to make our tours personal and memorable, and reading these kind words of praise makes us very happy and grateful. Even though it was just one day of exploring the Herzegovina, we did our best to make the best out of it, so that our clients have the complete experience. Thank you once again for booking the tours with us and for sharing your experience, it means a world to us. Hopefully we will have a chance to see you again in the future. My wife and I had the privilege to have Salem as our guide. He told us a lot of the history and background of the war in 1990s and his first-hand experience in protecting his country and family. The itineary is wisely designed and we saw many places with nice view and rich history, and most imprtant, saved a lot of trouble for the transport from Split to Sarajevo and allowed me to stay a night at Mostar. I am also very grateful for all colleagues of Funky tour from the first day I sent an email to enquire, who are exceptionally helpful!

Our time in Bosnia and Herzegovina was fantastic, but there are two things that especially stand out.

      1. Ema and Amela are great coordinators. I added Funky Tours on WhatsApp to communicate, and they are super responsive. There were some last-minute changes on our part (my wife and I got food poisoning right before arriving to BH, so we had to push the tours back one day) and Ema and Amela were really understanding, supportive, and helpful the entire time.

      2. Enes Popara is probably the *best* tour guide I have ever had. He took us on a 2-hour walking tour of Sarajevo; showed us the city (the good and the bad), told captivating stories (historical episodes, as well as those in his life), and how people currently live. We could tell he takes his craft (of being a tour guide) very seriously---thinking consciously about how to structure stories, the way he connects them to present and past, and the use of his IPad to show related material. Finally, he is unapologetically authentic. I would most highly recommend any tour that he gives.

I had two outstanding trips with Funky Tours. First the Sarajevo siege tour and then the all-day tour/transfer from Sarajevo to Dubrovnik via Mostar and Herzegovina. The tour guides and drivers were fascinating individuals with rich knowledge of the social, cultural and economic history of the region—they were relatable, adaptable to some of my interests and genuinely passionate about their work. Next time I am in Sarajevo or anywhere in the Balkans, I’ll totally book with them again!! Thank you!!
