Tahiti. Gorgeous scenery and friendly people.
Did two Catamaran cruises. Crew was super friendly. Did the sunset cruise in Papeete and the Lagoon and snorkel tour the next day. Very relaxing and pleasant experience with gorgeous scenery.

DYSFUNCTIONAL BOAT & DYSFUNCTIONAL CREW - AVOID
I booked a trip for my husband’s birthday; just us 2 on a cat with the skipper and a hostess. It would be the trip of a lifetime! I reached out in advance to both the hostess and the skipper, to discuss our 10-day trip to the Tuamotu. The hostess promptly got back to me. The skipper, however, did not bother getting in touch until the day of. I had wanted to discuss the itinerary to get ready and be able to have a discussion about what we wanted to see, what we could do…etc. When he called the morning of, he told me we were all set for our tour of the Windward Islands (Tahiti, Moorea, Tahaa, Bora). He was surprised to hear we had booked for the Tuamotu and expressed worry about the weather in the Tuamotu. I was stunned! I had just paid over 15,000 euros for a trip that clearly was poorly organized! He said he would check the weather and we would figure it out. We got to the boat at 4pm, met the crew, and saw them leave for the night shortly after. No dinner or offer of, or explanation as to why the trip wasn’t starting until the next day at 6am. Basically paid for a night on a boat in the harbor, which was upsetting already. Upon checking out the boat, we realized the marine head on our side had an awful smell, bad enough that it would make you vomit even if you weren’t seasick. We hoped it was temporary but it didn’t get any better the whole trip. It was disgusting! We would come to realize that the bathroom on the other side, which was going to be used by the staff, wasn’t working properly either so they had to use ours. 4 people with 1 disgusting bathroom - great! The pump wasn’t working well either in this head either and had to be manually activated at times. We were also told that the hatch over the bathroom had been sealed; it was still leaking and molding the wooden cabinets. It also leaked all over the toilet paper rolls by the toilet and inside the cabinet. We made do for a couple days but were eventually able to get new toilet paper rolls when we got to Rangiroa. But I digress. Going back to the 1st night, we settled in the room we were directed to stay in. The sheets smelled musty/moldy. So did the towels. The extra sheets were even worse. No comforter or blanket. When we asked about it, we were just told there was none and no one offered to bring one in. The hostess eventually came back to spend the night, and seeing that we hadn’t gone out to eat, offered to get us something to snack on. We thought, ok, maybe things will be ok. Let’s keep an open mind and it’ll be an adventure! The skipper and the hostess were both nice, but clearly did not get along. They would constantly complain about each other. The skipper, a young French man, while very competent at his job, had no respect for the older, Tahitian, hostess (who actually is a skipper herself). She would try to make suggestions about where to take us and activities we could do. We are not beach folks and do not enjoy just suntanning so we were eager to discover new areas, meet locals, learn about the islands. Yet, the skipper kept turning down her suggestions, notably refusing to take us to the town in Tikehau. We had to ask him directly to take us for him to finally agree. However, he spent his time trolling on the way there, as he was more concerned with his wants (i.e., fishing) than ours; by the time we got to the town, everything was closing down so we didn’t get to even grab a drink. The hostess was kind enough to give us a little tour. It was clear everyone there knew her, as she would stop and chat along the way. This confirmed what we had observed, namely that she knew these islands very well and should have been in charge of the itinerary. Going back to fishing… the skipper did catch a large fish on the 3rd or 4th day. He asked my husband if he wanted to reel it in, which made my husband very happy as he likes fishing. The skipper then talked about how he would filet it… etc. That’s the last we heard of the fish as the skipper had caught the fish for himself and had no intention to eat it with us. The experience repeated itself the last night there with the skipper catching fish after fish as if in a factory; fish that had been attracted to the boat by food the hostess had thrown in the water and the light of the boat. Encouraged by the hostess who wanted to bring fish home, he filled a large bucket and bragged about catching more than 40. My husband and I both expressed our opposition to that, as we felt that attracting fish this way and filling a whole bucket was not proper fishing and was not sustainable fishing either. The skipper wanted us to participate but we have more respect for the fish and the environment than that. He could not understand our opposition and continued. Though he kept his fish to himself, we shared every meal with him and the hostess, even intentionally ignoring his poor table manners (e.g., double dipping, grabbing from the communal plates directly with his hands). Now the meals… we had told the hostess we are not picky eaters and have no allergies. I did not realize I needed to explain we expected to have Polynesian food or at least fish while on the boat. We were served tasty meals, yes, but very unexpected ones in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. After the quiche Lorraine, we were treated to endives au jambon (endives wrapped in ham in a béchamel sauce), lamb legs, spaghetti and meatballs… and only once had raw tuna. It just seemed really odd!!! So if you do go ahead and book with Poe Charter (though you should really reconsider that decision to begin with), make sure to specify exactly what you expect. Also make sure to bring cash for excursions. Since the skipper didn’t bother contacting us to discuss the itinerary, we had no idea what to expect. When we were told we owed 14,000 francs cash for an excursion they had planned on Makatea, we were surprised. Luckily we had gotten some cash before embarking, but still felt ill prepared. The cherry on top was the return. We had paid extra to be dropped off on Moorea. The skipper had no knowledge of that apparently! He then tried to convince us that we needed to be dropped off at 11am so he could be back to Tahiti by 1pm as requested by the company. Our contract was clear that drop off was at 1pm on Moorea. We got to Moorea around 9am… Poe Charter is such a scam. We still held them off until 12:30pm. No lunch provided, however. Now, considering others’ horror stories involving Poe Charter, I guess we got very lucky and still managed to have a somewhat successful trip, but I would recommend thinking twice about chartering this company. It’s too much money to take the risk to have your dream vacation impacted by their sleazy practices.

Bruce at Poe charter, via phone call and text, agreed to charter Poe Hina to us beginning May 3, 2024. After saying he would finalize plans with us on May 2, he ghosted us. End of story. We never heard from him again despite calling and texting him.

      A+.Sailing and Snorkeling
First class catamaran sail with snorkeling in Moorea!! The boat was very comfortable and the crew were so courteous and knowledgeable about the area and waters! More importantly they were very helpful when getting in and out of the water to snorkel. The boat had a nice sturdy ladder that dropped into the water. The extra treat was the nice fresh local fruit and fruit juice to enjoy while lounging on catamaran! Go now

Beautiful setting for a catamaran cruise!
Awesome experience and crew! We went on a sightseeing and snorkeling adventure on their catamaran. The winds were too light so we unfortunately didn't get to use the sails, but we got to motor from Opunohu Bay to Cook's Bay, and then snorkel near the "tiki garden", where there were stone tikis sunk by the missionaries like 150 years ago as part of an effort to destroy the islanders culture and history. It was beautiful and sad at the same time. The water was amazing, so many color of blue! The crew, Mahana and Miti, were really excellent hosts, providing great service, and the Tahitian rum punch was absolutely amazing!

      Catamaran to Tetiaroa
An unforgettable experience. It's a long, bumpy, and wet ride to and from Tetiaroa (+3 hours each way), but so very worth it. The Poe team are superstars, and work their best to make everyone comfortable on what is a long boat ride. The atoll itself astounding in its beauty, and while there you will wade in the lagoon, as well as have the opportunity to snorkel with the fish and (friendly) sharks along the reef. Incredible.

Cruise Moorea on a Maxi Catamaran
Poe Charters Tahiti operated the excursion we booked through Celebrity Cruises, "Cruise Moorea on a Maxi Catamaran". We had a terrific time! The catamaran was not overcrowded, we had plenty of room to move around. Delicious, juicy, super fresh local fruit (as in, the best fruit I've ever had) and snacks were served and after swimming and snorkeling, rum punches were served (all included). The captain made sure we spent loads of time with the spinner dolphins who were endlessly entertaining! We toured the coast of Moorea, seeing the beautiful homes and the overwater bungalows. Great crew, all very helpful and engaged. Recommend highly!

the boat vanished the day before
We booked a boat in July for a cruise to start on the 27th of December. while on our flight CDG-Papeete we were told that our boat could not sail due to “force majeure”… so we were given a different boat for an extra 3000 euros. A few days later we spotted the boat initially booked and paid by us in Tahaa… So, it clearly means that POE just gave our boat to another client. very incorrect! and in no way they accepted to return our money. They did not respect the contract. in no way we recommend POE Charter

      Don’t waste your money
Four of us went on this excursion, booking through Royal Caribbean. First part was fun, lots of waves and some whales. We were given snacks, fruit and chips and non alcoholic drinks. BUT then we were to do some snorkeling, which we did, in a Mooring field! Lots of moored boats around us nothing to snorkel for, there was maybe 1 fish and some rocks. There were elderly guests aboard, that other guests were helping because the Captain and his 1 st mate were busy in the back of the boat smoking. Don’t bother with this Co. there are many more off the ship that offer so much more for less.

      Dishonest company, to be avoided!!!
Avoid this company as much as you can. We chartered a boat from them, the boat sank before we arrived… in the contract they signed they had to find a us a similar boat size and standing OR refund us + covering the expenses we would spend for the inconvenience. What they did… giving no other choices 1 day before our arrival than taking a unsafe boat, without sails, without hot water, without tender…. They did give us any assistance during our all week onboard this nut. We received a refund without any compassion for our ruined holidays. When we claimed to be refunded for all the expenses linked to all the problems encountered they literally told us to get a lawyer and we would get our due in 10 years. Avoid this company and hid owner as much as you can.

      Best experience of my life!
We are a family traveling from the United States to explore the Tuamoto islands. There is simply nothing better than the Poe charter team...we used the Lagoon 46, almost a brand new boat. Our captain Romain Caquil is a perfect captain, knows everyone in all the islands, and made the trip custom for us. Tearana as the Chief Steward is a magnificent cook, and anticipates your needs. I would fly back to Fakarava and sail with this team for a 3 weeks if I could, they are simply marvelous!

      Not worth your money
I went in Tetiaroa with my friends on Friday. And the least I can say is that it is definitely not worth your money!!! The island is wonderful but the way the staff done things was pretty disappointing! No communication no interactions. No where near the Polynesian experience you are seeking. No English has been spoken not even for security and safety purposes. What a shame!!!

      Tetiaroa tour
Me and my friends went on a tour to tetiaroa yesterday. The staff were not speaking a word of English. I understand that we are in French Polynesia but the website is written in English. So you would assume that at least a bit of English would be spoken. No one gave me instructions on the safety and security. It say that it would be a guided tour around the island but the hostess let us and went for a nap under a palm tree. Nothing about the island and it history has been explained. The captain and two of his friends that came on the tour took the zodiac and went to play around with it. Got stuck on the reef so massively destroyed the coral of this protected island. I didn't know anything about how protected this island was until I was back to Tahiti and met up with my Tahitian friends who told me everything about it. You could not take shells or anything from tetiaroa however no one knew about it so everyone went home with something from the island. There was a lot of wrong thing about the tour. The place is amazing but shame the staff were not interacting with any of us (french and English) they were only speaking between the four of them :( It my opinion a bit too expensive for what it was.

After two months in Polynesia, passing through the Marquesas, the Society Archipelago and the Tuamotu , we keep only good memories in contact with the Polynesians and incredible landscapes. Almost. We feel we were mistaken for tourist gobs when we opted for the outing offered by Poe Charter on the island of Tetiaroa on July 13 because the weather conditions were terrible, incompatible with a 3 hour crossing.
Before registering my wife and I insisted on the weather conditions that could lead to the cancellation of the trip. We have been assured that we will be reimbursed if this is the case. But Poe Charter argued that demand was so strong that it was prudent to confirm registration by paying €175 per person or €350, a far from negligible sum.
The day before Poe Charter sent an email to announce that “time was with us,” says Poe Charter. Confident in the face of such assurance from seafarers, we had to prepare the sunscreen, swimsuit and Go Leader for snorkling.
Yet the opposite was waiting for us. By the way the catamaran was not complete..., whereas. we had been encouraged to pay in advance; customers being so-called waiting list.
Immediately after leaving the Marina, what could be feared presented itself. The weather conditions (rain, wind and cold) associated with a strong swell should have resulted in the cancellation and therefore its refund.
What was supposed to be an unforgettable day on the island of Tetiaroa, as related by the reviews when the sun is in the party turned into a nightmare day (waves breaking on deck, short visit to Bird Island, incessant rain, cancelled snorkling, etc...) Only positive: the Tahitian meal. The captain felt obliged to cut the exit short by offering to return after the meal. On the way back, wrapped in his wax , the captain agreed small sums to make the crossing seem less painful.
On our return we learned that the next outings were cancelled.
Of course we expressed our displeasure by writing directly to Poe Charter but to date we have not received any response although there is a customer relations service on the Poe Charter website. A refund, if only partial, would have been a good business gesture.
In conclusion, it would be unfortunate if such practices favouring business over the satisfaction of tourists did not extend to the whole of French Polynesia. So do not hesitate to compare the services and reviews of the companies before choosing

    Sept 2024 • Family
On holiday in Polynesia at the beginning of September, we were two families of 4 and 3 who booked the trip to Tetiaroa with Poe Charter.
As planned, we arrived at the pontoon at 5:30 but from there nothing went as planned.
Reservation tickets paid for in November 2023, which we had for the trip did not pass, neither for us nor for our friends, but the skippers still made us get on the catamaran warning us that if we were more than 27 people on the boat it would be problematic.
Indeed after boarding all the passengers we were in the end 33 people on the boat.
One of the skippers then calls his employer to explain the situation.
And we got a first explanation which is that a second boat was chartered for the trip but that the latter under repair had been cancelled and we received an email to inform us. Mail obviously not received by our friends or ourselves, because they had absolutely not sent an email.
The skipper then gives us the phone so that we can talk live with the employer, and there a second explanation is given, namely that they have changed software and our reservations no longer appear.
They're asking us to leave the boat without apology or any commercial gesture.
It was our last day in Polynesia and he was very disappointed by their fault.
They still paid us back (still happy).

A destination that is earned after good navigation. But what unforgettable memories this tour of the bird island has. A timeless magical atmosphere guaranteed for an hour of Lounge Coat in warm, turquoise water and flown over by thousands of birds. Very professional welcome and attentive to the well-being of those most sensitive to seasickness.

Reservation should be cancelled or modified when the team is informed of bad weather or a swell preventing access to the island. The Tour Award should include at least Plan B Things to do. (Tahitian dance, creation crown of flowers, history of fauna & flora, paddle, kayak...)

    The day went as planned.
And despite the rain on half the way back (and it was announced by the crew that there would be a risk in the afternoon), all passengers kept smiling and the crew on top.

The excursion is beautiful on the other hand, apart from the captain, the "guide" does the bare minimum and the sailor is unpleasant, not smiling and does not care about the comfort of the clients. As the rain came, he prepared a sheet to protect himself from the rain without worrying that the customers would get wet despite having children on board.
In addition, we did not get the big boat unlike what we were sold. A technical problem can happen but the way of presenting it and being made aware of it, Without a commercial gesture behind it, it's a shame to treat tourists and locals in this way. We ate on a tray on our laps, the glass on the floor, sitting on the uncomfortable boat benches. Tetiaroa is magnificent but the Poe charter company should review its quality charter!

Unjustified price for a shuttle boat. 7 hours of sea travel for 1.5 hours on site, 30 of which only for snorkeling. Invisible or even jaded crew. Really limited security. Cheap meal. I really don't recommend it. I am surprised by the good marks awarded. Maybe the conditions are no longer the same

Cordialement,

An unforgettable day and discovery of the island of Tetiaora ❤️, thanks to the Poé charter team.
Starting with our first contact for reservation: availability and attentiveness -> quick and simple reservation.
A top crew who knows the ocean well, because it wasn't completely calm, but the captain managed it 👍🏽
Superb welcome, followed by a good breakfast.
Walk on the island, followed by lunch on the catamaran. Excellent raw fish in coconut milk, I love it 😋
Return more complicated than on the way out. I shared my meal with the fish 🐟
Next time, it will be 2 days and still with Poé Charter, too short. On a paradise island, time passes too quickly!!!
If you are hesitant, don’t hesitate, book!
