Overview
Lima’s Barranco district is buzzing with neighborhood eateries serving up fresh food the locals love, but you won’t find the best of them unless you know where to look. On this Lima walking tour, follow your guide through the neighborhood and mingle with shoppers in the busy food markets. With breakfast and lunch or lunch and dinner included, sample fresh flavors and learn about the rich traditions of Peruvian cuisine.
What to Expect
Choose a morning or afternoon walking tour, then meet your guide in central Lima to begin. The morning tour includes breakfast and lunch, while the afternoon tour includes lunch and dinner.

First, head through Barranco’s central park and gain insight into the role it plays in Lima’s 19th-century history. On the morning tour, stop in a family café and enjoy a traditional Peruvian breakfast among the locals.

Continue onward into the busy food markets, and listen as your guide sheds light on Peruvian culture and culinary traditions. Mingle with the shoppers and street food vendors, and see what fresh ingredients make it into the shopping baskets of Lima.

Sample three dishes in a Barranco ceviche (seafood) bar, and learn about some of Peru’s best-loved national dishes during a live cooking demonstration. Afterward, visit one of Latin America’s top 50 restaurants and sample a Pisco Sour—a fresh cocktail loved across Peru.

Stroll along the seafront as your guide shares culinary myths and traditions associated with the ocean, and duck in for refreshment in a local tavern. Then, return to Barranco’s central park to conclude your tour.
