Excellent cooking class with chef Hector
We did Hector’s Peruvian classics class for the second time, this time we brought two friends and they absolutely loved it! Hector picked us up himself at our hotel to start with a very informative visit to a local market, explaining all the different products Peru has to offer. Then we started out class, outdoor with a beautiful view of local ruïns, cooking ceviche and lomo saltado, topped up with a pisco sour. Hector is very passionate and knowledgable about cooking and food and his humor makes the whole class a joy! After cooking we sat down together to eat our own creations and it was delicious! When the evening came to an end Hector dropped us safely at our hotel. If you like cooking and want to learn something about Peruvian cuisine, this class is highly recommended!

      Best Chef Hector
Outstanding Ceviche Cooking Class with Hector We had an absolutely fantastic time at Hector’s ceviche cooking class! Hector is such a warm and kind person – once you get to know him, his friendly and fun personality really shines through. He made us feel welcome and created a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere right from the start. The four of us booked the class together and prepared several types of ceviche. From mastering the art of making tigermilk to working with the fish and all the fresh ingredients, everything was absolutely delicious. Hector was not only a great instructor but also an inspiration – we learned so much from him! To top it all off, we ended the evening by mixing (and enjoying!) Pisco Sours together. It was the perfect way to wrap up an already fantastic experience. Thank you, Hector, for such a wonderful time. We hope to see you again someday! Cheers, Jonas, Aylin, Melek, and Clemens

      Highly recommend this experience
Chef Hector is the real deal! My wife and I started our honeymoon in Lima, Peru before heading to the Peruvian Andes and on our second day were able to have a class with Chef Hector. What an experience! Chef Hector's experience at Michelin restaurants was evident and we both learned so much from this class. We were able to make Pisco Sours, Civeche, and more - learning throughout the time together. Chef Hector was engaged and very open to all questions from both of us. The backdrop is unparalleled as you are doing this cooking class from a rooftop while overlooking a centuries-old ruins that are being excavated currently. If you are into food / cooking classes, I would highly recommend this experience. We did a private class and truly enjoyed. Being from San Francisco, it was also great to just talk with Hector as well as he had spent a number of years in our hometown.

      Top Cooking Class Experience!
We were beyond pleased with our private cooking class with Chef Hector Aguilar and Chef Martin! The tour to the market was informative and we really enjoyed getting to see all the wonderful fresh products. Then the time at our cooking class was so much fun and we learned a lot! We really were happy with how they took the time to not only show us how to make ceviche and Pisco sours but guided us through the process to learn the steps and try it on our own as well. The friendly nature of Chef Hector and Chef Martin made this experience extra special and we really felt by the end that we had made some new friends in Lima. We would highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to learn how to make authentic Peruvian food with fun people passionate about their craft!

Héctor is truly gifted. This was a great class to learn about Peruvian food, drinks, culture, and recipes. We loved the hands on experience. Hector and his team were patient and kind to us novice “cooks.” We had an amazing time and would highly recommend this class to others wanting to do something different in Peru! We are grateful for the experience and would definitely go back to learn more recipes!

Peruvian Classics with Ingenious Modern Tips and a great crew!
I love taking cooking classes on vacation to learn about the local food and culture and having had amazing food in Peru, I was looking for an experience just as stellar. When I found out chef Hector was teaching this class and was previously at Maido, one of my favorite restaurants in Lima, my friends and I signed up! It started off with a morning at the market where Chef Hector gave us some brief information on the history of Peru and how the local foods came to be out of socioeconomic times, immigration and Peruvian 'innovation'. We walked through the market and learnt about what to look out for when buying fish for ceviche, secret spots for great cheese at great prices, and lots of other tips! At the kitchen, we learnt all the items on the menu but the best parts were just learning secret tips from someone who has worked at such high caliber restaurant kitchens! The team is so down to earth and very helpful when you're doing the hands-on portions of the class and they're all fun to be with. Throw in a couple of Pisco sours in there, and a grand meal at the end of the class and you have yourself an amazing experience of a great time in Lima!

A fabulous experience with a great instructor. Practical cooking and history lessons in one place!
Where do I start? The actual cooking school is on a rooftop across from a 2,000 year old pre Inca megalith in the process of being uncovered. Hector was a fabulous instructor, passionate about Peruvian cooking and all things Peruvian. The class was informative and a genuine pleasure. And the food we made was fantastic - better than I’ve had in restaurants!

From the Fish Market to the Dining Table - Unforgettable Culinary Experience!
Chef Hector organized an incredible day for our family to experience traditional Peruvian cuisine. We began before sunrise shopping at the fish market, where Chef Hector hand selected ingredients for our cooking class. Our class was held at his workshop, where he and his amazing team taught us how to create a delicious Peruvian meal. We had a cooking experience that we will never forget! Thank you Hector and your team!

Do you understand the culinary consequences of squeezing every last drop of juice from a lime? Can you dice an aji amarillo (Peru's iconic yellow pepper) with knife skills, precision and flair that makes brunoise look like a pile of bloated cobblestones? Could you walk the line between pyromaniac and kitchen blowtorch caramelizer? Even after several delightfully easy-to-drink handcrafted passion fruit pisco sours?

Hector is the real deal: creative, connected, talented, charming, charismatic...and also an excellent teacher who is genuinely attentive to ensuring every person in his class is having a wonderful time. From market to table, he and his devoted crew share insider tips and tricks, enthrall with tales from the book of iconic global chefs and seamlessly orchestrate a mouthwatering meal rooted in Peruvian terroir, taste and tradition but with modern, personal, and flavor enhancing twists.

My class prepared, from plucking to plating, the promised menu of two kinds of causas, two ceviches, parmesan scallops, a platter of at least 10 local fruits and piscos. But it felt like much, much more.

I highly recommend this experience to anyone in Lima who is passionate about food, culture and hospitality. It is a mini masterclass in all three and provides a fun, engaging, beautifully conceptualized and executed moment.

Excellent for all levels of experience, the only requirement is being open to connecting through the magic of preparing and sharing a meal.

We had an absolutely fantastic time with Hector and the team. We cooked up a storm, learned interesting facts about Peruvian culture, climates and of course cuisine. The results were amazing, and in the month following we haven’t been able to find lomo saltado or ceviche as good as what we cooked with Hector’s help that day. Thank you Héctor and team! For anyone looking to learn more about and master the art of Peruvian cuisine I thoroughly suggest you start here.

This is the best cooking class of Lima, and probably the best class I have ever done. Hector transmits such an enthusiasm and crazy knowledge of the Peruvian cuisine - it gets inspiring!

The class starts of with a visit to a market, where Hector shows all the produce and among other things teaches you how to find the freshest fish. Back to the class you learn the secrets behind dishes like ceviche, lomo saltado and more. In my country I have always struggled to make these dishes, but now I have all the knowledge i need!

As the cherry on top you get to eat so much! I have tried other classes in Lima, but none can compare to Hector’s classes. Muchas gracias!

Hector was really friendly, and clearly very knowledgable and passionate about Peruvian food.
We had a fun market tour where he taught us some tips on how to choose good food from the market, and saw lots of ingredients that were new to me.
We then spent a lot of time making a multiple course meal, we learned how to make two types of Ceviche, Pisco Sour (with Johnny), and also some classic dishes. He and his team were nicely organised, it was a really positive experience, and I definitely recommend it to anyone who is visiting Lima.
Hector is also clearly a very kind and interesting character, it was a pleasure to meet him and his team!

Hectors cooking class is an experience that you will never forget. Including a local market experience that harvest fresh ingredients each with a historical and economic impact to how these ingredients arrived and how they end up in our food. My favorite technique was the hand torch to grill the shrimp to perfection. Lastly our cocktails accompanied our dishes with a passion fruit and original Pisco sour.

10/10 recommend! What a great way to experience Lima and the surrounding area. We were picked up by our chef who took us to the coast and stopped at the beach for some breath -taking views. We then got to experience the market and fresh fish vendors and he even helped us get our own things we wanted on the side. The different types of ceviches along with the remaining dishes were delicious and he did a great job incorporating all of us into the prep and understanding why each ingredients were used. The pisco sours were delicious as well. The food was the best I had the entire 3 weeks I was in Peru and can't wait to make these recipes when I am home!

My boyfriend and I had the pleasure of attending Chef Hector's Peruvian cooking class in Miraflores, Peru, and it turned out to be the absolute highlight of our trip. Hector was incredibly punctual, picking us up at our Airbnb along with another couple and taking us on a scenic drive to San Bertolo, a truly picturesque location outside of the bustling city.

Our day began with a visit to the local market, where we handpicked the freshest ingredients for our culinary adventure. What stood out the most during the class was the ingenious way Hector taught us to utilize every part of each ingredient, reducing waste and elevating the flavors with different sauces. It was an eye-opening experience for us, as we learned how to make the most of every component in our dishes.

Throughout the class, Hector was a patient and attentive instructor, ensuring that we mastered the correct techniques and always making us feel like we were cooking in the comfort of our own home. And of course, I can't forget to mention the delightful Pisco Sours he treated us to – they were an absolute delight!

All in all, our Peruvian cooking class with Chef Hector was an unforgettable journey into the heart of Peruvian cuisine, and we left with not only culinary skills but also wonderful memories of a day well spent. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Miraflores!

From culinary novices to Nikkei ninjas in a day! Our Lima cooking class was a blast. We learned to make Nikkei-style tiraditos (Peruvian-Japanese fusion, think sashimi with amazing sauces), and Chef Hector and his partner exceeded expectations. After picking out fresh fish at the market, we headed to a terrace overlooking Inca ruins for a step-by-step lesson in sauces and dishes.

Thank you for sharing your secret recipes! We’re already making them at home, along with the Chilcano cocktail Ricardo taught us—Pisco, bitters, ginger soda, and fresh ginger juice. A fun, informative, and unforgettable experience!

What a great experience. Hector not only knows his history and geography and all about the wonderful fruit and vegetables of Peru, he’s a passionate, fun and masterful chef. The Cooking Class was on the top floor of an old building in Miraflores. We had three separate dishes and learn how to make three different sauces. I’ve never had so much fun slicing fish for ceviche! Along with Papas and Lomo Saltado we also learned how to make two different kinds of Pisco Sour. We can’t recommend highly enough.

Our cooking class with Chef Hector was one of the highlights of our recent visit to Lima.

We’ve taken cooking classes in Italy, Thailand, Singapore, and India, and our class with Chef Hector was among the best. It was a hands-on experience that kept us busy for several hours. One of us is a very competent home cook, and the other is a klutz in the kitchen, but both of us learned a lot and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Chef Hector is the real deal, a chef who has worked in many parts of the world, including at one of Peru’s leading restaurants. His teaching skills are exceptional, he is completely fluent in English, and he has a great sense of humor.

We acquired a number of useful skills and techniques in the course of preparing several dishes. The class flew by and our classmates and we enjoyed a magnificent feast at the end. Chef Hector also follows up with useful emails for us to reference back home.

We heartily recommend a class with Chef Hector to anyone interested in learning more about preparing Peruvian food while having fun in Lima.
