Highlights
    What to Expect
    Day 1 (L, D)

Departure from the city of Iquitos around 7:30am. Travel by private car to Nauta, then take a motor boat to navigate the Marañón River about 3.5 hours until you reach the national reserve base. In the afternoon, you will visit Lake Huaylla and see dolphins, many species of birds, giant trees and a gorgeous sunset.

    Day 2 (B, L, D)

After breakfast, travel by motor boat approximately 4 hours on the Yanayacu River, where you will set up camp. You will hike the shores of Lake Yanaqucha, observing a great number of birds and other animals. After lunch, your afternoon navigation will be watching pink and gray river dolphins, and some varieties of monkeys. You will be taught the basics of survival in the jungle, techniques for walking, forms of natural direction, how to make fire at any time of the year. In the evening, sail in a canoe to observe large lizards and other animals.

    Day 3 (B, L, D)

Continue navigating deeper into the jungle for about 5 hours to reach your next campsite. You will both hike and sail to observe a large number of macaws, and water animals. You will be taught about traditional jungle plants used for medicinal purposes.

    Day 4 (B, L, D)

In the morning you will continue into the interior of the jungle, until you reach the checkpoint, Huarmi Island, and your next location for camping. In the evening you will explore with your guide, looking for mammals.

    Day 5 (B, L, D)

More exploring today, perhaps for several types of very large lizard. In the afternoon you will arrive at Lake El Dorado, where you will, again, appreciate a large amount of animals and birds. This area is considered the heart of the national reserve. It has the most diverse numbers of species that you will see on your adventure. On all of your walks, you can appreciate the different species of monkeys, sloths, orchids, birds, anacondas etc. In the evening, take a walk or to see the largest species of rodent, the capybara, or large alligators.

    Day 6 (B, L, D)

After breakfast, you will do some sport fishing, observe birds and other animals, learn about the life of the inhabitants of this area, and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Today begins your return journey back to where your tour started.

    Day 7 (B, L, D)

Very early in the morning you will continue returning to the starting point, enjoying beautiful scenery and very colorful birds such as macaws, toucans, herons, and others until you reach the Yarina.

    Day 8 (B, L)

Enjoy your final breakfast, then continue the return to the city of Nauta. Travel by private car back to the city of Iquitos by road for about 1.5 hours arriving at approximately 6.30pm. End of tour.

Because this is a private tour, the program can vary according to the interest of the participants, either by studies, photography, ornithologists or fishermen.

Pink Dolphins, Piranhas, and Amazonian thunderstorms!
This tour covered four days, and you arrive by boat to Orlando's Jungle Lodge. The place is very rustic, you need to use good insect spray, and definitely follow their packing list. You set out from this lodge for your expeditions. We did day and night hikes in the forest to see monkeys, frogs, birds, tarantulas, and bullet ants. The highlights were seeing pink dolphins surfacing and being able to just sit in the boat and watch them. They are too quick and unpredictable to get a photo, I recommend you use video. Second highlight was fishing for piranha, then heading back under darkness on the river to spot caymans, and almost getting caught in a violent thunderstorm. This is a tour for those who don't mind heat, rain, mosquitos, and rustic (~ camping) facilities. If your idea of sleeping under the stars is a 4 or 5 star hotel, this might not be for you. We really enjoyed the tour, were fully ensconced in the Amazonian Forest, and well-catered to by our experienced Guide. High marks.

    Amazing jungle tour
Last year we (four friends) did a four day tour inside the Amazone reserve park with our two guides Carlos and Estéban and it was amazing. We did a lot of research before choosing this operator and we were very happy with our choice. The tour was very well arranged for a good price. But our two tour guides were the best we could ever wish for. We saw so many animals, and it was really cool to see how well they knew the environment. They did their very best to make sure we enjoyed every moment of it. Also it should be mentioned that they were good cooks. Make sure to pack long clothes though as the mosquitoes will not leave you alone. Thanks again Carlos and Estéban!

    Good trip but
I did the 5 days / 4 nights Pacaria Samiria. Like a lot of people, i was told I would get an English spoken guide but only had it after 2,5 days of my trip. The Spanish guide was very sweet, trying to make himself understand but ... I asked for an English guide. Orlando told me he would be there but never saw him again. There a lot of companies which offer the jungle trips but they all send the people to the same places, to do the same visits etc... which is fine but please be honest about it. I was also very upset when I learned how much people paid for that trip and what I paid. Of course I didn’t negotiate as I booked in advance but I paid double the price (sometimes even more) for the exact same thing. That remains a bummer even if the trip itself is amazing and I got to see so many wild animals. I went camping in the jungle, an experience I will never forget. Thank you very much to Ever and Rickie.

Fantastic one day tour of the Amazon
Booked the one day river tour with Jungle Explorers. Orlando was our guide for the day and took us to preserves to see and interact with Amazonian wildlife. Holding and playing with monkeys was definitely a highlight. After lunch we visited a local tribe and we were able to participate in their dances. Amazingly beautiful day and great commentary from Orlando - we learned a great deal about the area. The tour was in Spanish [as I need more practice] and Orlando was very patient whenever I needed clarification. Junge Explorers also does tours in English.

Wonderful day on the river and seeing wildlife
We took a private, one day river tour with Orlando stopping at several animal preserves and visited an indigenous tribe. The entire day was beautiful, relaxing and educational. The locations Orlando chose to experience the wildlife were well presented and did not feel touristy at all. The ability to interact with the animals, including feeding piranhas and paiche and holding monkeys and sloths was really special. Even just cruising down the Amazon River is magical. The place he chose for lunch floats on the river and had a wide selection of delicious food. Orlando was an excellent guide, sharing his knowledge of the animals and the region. By the way, we took the tour in Spanish but they offer it in English also.

Take care, they are not honest people
We booked 4 days 3 nights tour to pacaya samiria. They told us that we will have our own guide, we'll sleep on a house and the tour will be flexible according to our prefferences. But actually, they just joined us to a group of other company and the tour was almost the opposite from what they told us: we were 2 nights camping and the schedule was strict. Orlando's Expedition didn't tell us the truth about the trip's details and didn't take responsibility for the mistake they have done. Be aware that this could happen with them and make sure that they don't make fool of you. Anyway, pacaya samiria is beautiful and it is recommended to go there (but maybe with other company).

    Very nice experience
We were two guys who did a 5 d and 4 n tour. Both the guide and the local guide were very nice and helpful people and especially the local guide new the jungle very well. The food was okay but nothing special. Very thin madrasses for the nights in tent which was not so comfortable but necessary to get deeper into the jungle. Overall a nice experience!

Brilliant 3 nights 2 days trip to Pacaya Samaria reserve
My wife and I had an amazing time on this trip and I cannot recommend it enough. During the three days we swam in the river, went out on multiple walks and boat rides and saw lots of different wildlife (including dolphins, monkeys, snakes, birds, spiders to name a few). Our local guide (Robert) was constantly pointing out animals that our untrained eyes couldn't see and a couple of times was able to imitate the animals' call so we could observe them from a bit closer. He knew so much about the wildlife and we loved hearing some of the stories he told us about the jungle and the local area. We opted to spend the second night in a tent slightly deeper in the jungle, which was a great experience. We fell asleep to the sounds of the jungle at night and were woken up to the sound of a group of howler monkeys :). We probably would have extended the stay another night or two (Orlando told us this is possible to do if you are enjoying it) but unfortunately we had already booked our flights away. English speaking guides are available but speaking a bit of Spanish will definitely help.

    Worth it
The 4 day adventure in the jungle was amazing! We had three guides Lander, Justo and Marcelo who were great/ Justo is a local and lives in the village Buenos Aires inside the reserve, so on the way back we visited his house and had lunch there. Really enjoyed all the activities in the jungle and sleeping in the tents. Thank you!

Didn't stick with a schedule, transferred us to another agency, guide had poor english
We got told that we where transferred into another agency, called golden snake as Orlando could not find us a guide and there was miscommunication between them, so we didn't do half of the things that we payed for, for example Lily pads, monkey island etc. Our guide was friendly but bit lazy, he didn't speak much english and didn't want to make much effort either, as my friend spoke Spanish he asked her to translate for me, which was really annoying for me and for my friend, as she constantly had to translate. Also we didn't do the nocturnal walk since we didn't have flashlights and we where not able to purchase them in a lodge, and our guide had NO flashligh!! Food was really bad too, not much options, and I'm a vegetarian, which they said they cater for, but on a first dinner I was given chicken, and even after telling them, they didn't replace my plate! I would not recommend this agency! I think you can do better.

Company didn't give us what was promised. Nevertheless great guide.
We agreed with Orlando on having a private guide for the two of us or with one more Chilean boy. We also agreed on two nights of camping instead of one night in a house and one night camping. In that way it would be more adventurous and we would get to see more nature/animals. When we got picked up at the hostel though, there were four more people in our group and there was no way we could camp two days, it was already decided we would stay in a house the first night. Apparently Orlando had made a deal with another tour operator and put us with a group of that agency without consulting us. The other people had also payed less than we did. Some of our group members turned out to be less motivated. They preferred letting us wait for 1 extra hour to make coffee in the morning while the guide had told us to leave at 5h30. to spot animals. In three days we made only 3 real walks in the jungle of more than an hour. We saw less jungle than we expected and wanted. The upsides: the guide, Lander, was amazing. He knew everything about the jungle plants and animals. He made hundreds of animal noises. He cooked for us, showed us everything. The experience in itself was very nice. But we would not have done it with Orlando if we knew that he would change the conditions that we agreed upon.

Highly recommended and high adrenaline experience
Stunning agency, excellent organisation very serious and extremely skilled guides. Went with my brother and we felt safe with them around in a very treacherous environment. They also have falcon eyes and will spot almost invisible animals and insects. They are vert discreet and care about the nature and environment so the wild animals do not get scared or run away. One of the highlights of my trip. 5nights and 6days I will never forget. We went deep in the jungle and didn't see anyone else for 4 days, aside piranha fishing and crocodile spotting at night, bird watching the morning all Taylor made according to what we were looking for and brilliantly organised by Orlando expedition less than 24h before our experience and keeping some flexibility when we wanted. Thank you. Marc

    Incredible experience in the jungle
The experience has been incredible. Ricardo, the guide, made us feel very secure in a hostile place because he knows a lot about the area & we could see a lot of animals: tucans, rose & grey dolfins, the blue butterfly, a lot of caimans, etc, etc & know how to use nature: drink water from lianas, heal a wound with a tree, get food, etc.: he was able to show us all the wonders of this amazing & place that is the jungle. Only to improve the state of the mattress that were a bit old & the food of the last day that was very poor. Apart from this a stunning experience to experience in life at least once in a lifetime.
