Receive a morning pickup from your Cusco accommodations and then transfer to the Sacred Valley via the winding mountain roads just north of town. Break up the trip by pausing at a “Taray” (lookout point) offering postcard-perfect views of the valley below.
Continue the drive until your group reaches the ancient Inca city of Pisac. You’ll gain new insight into Inca culture as you explore the town’s ruins with your guide, taking time to admire the intricate stonework and the meticulously-designed agricultural terraces and irrigation canals nearby. Continue back into the modern-day section of town, where a thriving handicraft market offers plenty of opportunities to shop for souvenirs.
Pause at midday for lunch at an Andean-style restaurant suggested by your guide (own expense). Feel free to recommend your preferred lunch choice if you have a specific eatery in mind. Then drive along the Urubamba River as you head to Ollantaytambo. Visit the intricate agricultural terraces of this key Inca site, and stop to admire the rock formation dedicated to the god “Wiracocha.”
Following your visit to Ollantaytambo you’ll return back to Cusco and receive a drop-off at your hotel.
