About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Jet612943420800 contributionsGreat way to explore ArequipaFun bike ride through Arequipa. Our ride was about 30 km and 400 m ascent/descent. It is a great way to see another side of the city and the farm lands around it. Dont be scared of the traffic, we all felt very safe riding with RaulWritten 19 October 2024
- lisaeQ931KL0 contributionsNice Tour!Really nice Tour! A lot of fun :-) I would definitely recommend it. Raul is a friendly and cool guide and shows a lot of spots in Arequipa which tourists normally don’t see.Written 24 September 2024
- Kabsodih0 contributionsGreat enjoyable rideDefinitely a recommended activity if you want to see a different part of arequipa's country side, plenty of stops along the way a few ups and downs and plenty of time to have a good chat and meet new people. Bikes were good for the ride The guide was good and very professional with good communication skills. Having a bit of fitness will make the ride even more enjoyableWritten 1 August 2024
- Marcel B0 contributionsGreat insight into Arequipa off the main tourist trails. It was a very varied bike tour with a beautiful view of the volcanoes. The guide was also great and gave me lots of information about Arequipa. Please note! Not suitable for non-athletic people. Sunscreen and water are also a must. I can recommend the tour.Written 2 April 2024
- Z387LEjohns0 contributionsFantastic 2 day tour into Colco CanyonWe had a fantastic 2 day tour into Colco Canyon with our local guide Hans (don't let the name fool you, he is Peruvian). Everything was taken care of, with the only extra cost being entry to the thermal springs after the hike, which we were aware of before booking. Hans was very relaxed on the walk, going at our pace and giving us plenty of breaks along the way. He also took the time to explain to us the area, the plants and animals we came across and how the local people lived. He was genuinely interested in maximising our experience rather than just simply trying to finish as quickly as possible. All supplied meals were tasty and plentiful, we didn't feel hungry at any point and the overnight lodge was basic but clean and comfortable, with a swimming pool (if it is warm enough) and drinks and snacks for sale (dinner included). Ultimately it was an amazing experience and we would happily recommend this tour to anyone looking to hike through Colca CanyonWritten 24 October 2022
- 631eduarde0 contributionsGreat peruan experience in ColcaWe had so much fun and a great insight into peruan life in Colca Canyon! Food was great and the hike challanged us! Ventura, our driver Eduardo and our Guide Paul are highly recommended. Paul was not only a great guide because of the hiking but he also told us a lot of the history of Colca and also about flora und fauna. It was a great experience at all =).Written 5 June 2022
- C5177HJraymondl0 contributionsFantastic once in a Lifetime experience You won't regret itHad the most amazing experience! We start from arequipa at 7 am instead 3 am. Food and organization was incredible and although some of the walking was tough , the views were amazing and it was definitely worth it ! Would 100% recommend, worth every penny ! The whole trek was a once in a lifetime opportunity and I highly recommend picking this company, they are the best!Written 9 May 2022
- Tatiana_sala123670 contributionsBeautiful viewsHad an amazing time trekking through the canyon. Tiring but very rewarding and would definitely do it again!!! Very easy to work with the guides and such amazing people!Written 8 June 2021
- 282aidend0 contributionsOne of the best tour companies I have ever used!My friend and I have just returned from the colca 3D/2N trek with ventura travel. Really can't fault the tour in any way; it has so far been the highlight of our Peru trip, and surpassed all expectations we had. We booked in advance a trip from Arequipa to The Colca Canyon, the trekking was amazing, The views along the route are incredible, we saw a Condor too! The tour took us to Puno. which was just what we wanted. As a company, ventura travel were very well organised, and provided an excellent service. The briefing with raoul the evening before the first day clarified the schedule and requirements of the trip. Everything happened on time, and we were always clear on what was going on, in a way we haven't come across since with other tour companies. Our guide, was superb. Spoke great English, was really knowledgeable, Overall, incredible experience, made all the better by ventura travel. Would recommend for anyone.Written 5 February 2020
- manuelagM9153PT0 contributionsUnique and excellent experience!!My friends and I traveled for more than a year, after doing many tours throughout our trip. Our last stop was in Arequipa. We were looking to go to the Colca Canyon, but we did not like the departure times at 3 am. We wanted something different, and we finally found this company that leaves at 7 am to go to the Canyon. We think it is the only agency that has a departure at that time in Arequipa. The price was really very high for our budget, but since it was our last adventure, we bought it. Very good experience from the beginning to the end. Our guide Remy was very attentive and knew very well about the nature. Our first night we stayed in a small loca family we were surprised by how everything was organized. Good food, the room was very clean with private bathroom. The second day was long, but very relaxing. We visited an oasis with a pool and in the afternoon we went up to the Canyon and spent the night in a hostal in cabanaconde with a very comfortable private bathroom. Our third day calmer, very early already in our private transport. We visited the viewpoint of condors and the guide was very flexible with the stops, then we visited the town of Chivay, the hot springs and our end was a lunch buffet. We left very satisfied and we could sleep on the bus on our way back to Arequipa. Thanks Ventura Travel, we feel happy about everything and the flexibility. The groups of this company are small and everything was included. Highly recommended.Written 1 February 2020
- 702jacks0 contributionsThe best itinerary and guides for colca canyonWe did the 3 day / 2 night tour of the colca canyon. They pick you up at 7:30 which is a massive improvement on all of the tour operators who pick you up at 3 or 4am. You get to stop off on the way to take photos of llamas, alpacas and vicuña and some spectacular views. In exchange for this later start you start the walk down into the canyon in the afternoon which means much cooler conditions as the sun is starting to pass over. We arrived at the first hostel to find people on the earlier tour had been hanging around for 6 hours. The second day is tough. You start with a hike to a beautiful oasis, we got there before mid day and had a good 3 hours to swim, sunbath and get lunch before starting the long hike out of the canyon. Here is the second difference with the regular tour. You spend the second night outside the canyon as apposed to spending it in the oasis. The other tours start the climb at 4 in the morning to make sure they are out before the sun is too hot. our last day started at 8am to watch the condors at and then on to the hot springs at Chivay. Apart from the secondary being pretty tough in terms of hiking this is a much better itinerary than the regular tour and I really recommend it. Our tour guide Mellissa was fantastic and really helped us through the hike. She was super helpful, knowledgable and kind. The group sizes are small and you get loads of flexibility with timings and itinerary. photos of llamas, alpacas and vicuña and some spectacular views. - NickM36370 contributionsCarlos best guide everFantastic experience. This is the first time I write a review, and only because it was perfect. We are convinced Carlos is the best guide of the colca region. He showed us the locals, told us about the history and let us taste the local food and fruits we found on the way. We did the 2 day trekking, the first day was beautiful, then we slept in the oasis on the bottum of the canyon (eden residence). There was a swimmingpool and good food. The second day was walking up again, which was really tiring, but is was worth every drip of sweat. Its a relatively expensive trip, but then you have a private guide (we were with 3 guys) who can tell you a lot more and you can do everything on your own pace. This wouldnt be the case with a bigger group. We are very thankful to Carlos for the wunderfull experience.Written 10 October 2018
- Mariapf920 contributionsReally nice tour with wonderful views! We booked the tour with Ventura travel, because we were attracted by the idea of small groups and of being picked up at 6:30 instead of at 3!! We could't be happier with our choice!! We were lucky that the "small" group ended up being just us and we had a wonderful time with the driver/DJ and our great guide Remi. He kept telling us a lot of stuff about the Canyon and how it is to live there, which was nice because distracted me from the tiredness. He is a really nice guy and fun to talk to! Additionally, the food was very nice throughout the places we ate during the tour (we specially enjoyed the biiig breakfast after the hike up) and they were really flexible in the drive back, allowing us to stop to see lamas, alpacas and vicuñas. Thanks a lot for a wonderful experience Muchas gracias!, Firmado: La cabrita/GanchelitoWritten 8 October 2018
- Tom_cdi0 contributionsIndividual 3 day Colca region tourWe, a family with 2 adult kids, were looking for a tour operator for our individually planned 3 day Colca region trip. Raoul always responded quickly and had good ideas to support our planning. Once there, our driver Eduardo safely brought us to all the nice spots we had chosen on both sides of the canyon. And we really enjoyed the endless conversations with our guide Remy. Seeing condors flying close at the condor viewpoint, the great half day hike to Madrigal fortress, visiting the (small) Pinchollo geyser or relaxing in the Calera thermal sources: We definitely had a great time!Written 30 September 2018
- Kristen V0 contributionsPerfect small group adventure! My friend and I were looking for an activity to do while staying in Arequipa. Luckily we stumbled across Ventura, which provides an incredible experience in which you travel with a local guide and have the opportunity to try authentic local food (your guide takes you to a buffet where you can try a lot of different, delicious local foods at once - definitely a highlight of the trip) and see all the best areas of Colca Canyon. Our guide, Jose, was fantastic. He made sure we stopped when we needed more water or needed a restroom, and brought fruit for us as snacks when we were on longer parts of the trek. He answered all of our questions and had great tips on condors (another highlight of the trip - an hour or so looking at the condors!) And even gave us recommendations for when we were in Arequipa. The trip allowed us to see so much and meet new people for an affordable price that is well worth the cost. We even got to feed a baby alpaca and try a 'Colca Sour' drink at a roadside stand. He made sure we got to try everything we wanted to while driving around and trekking. We would definitely travel with Ventura again!Written 6 September 2018

We went on this trip not yet knowing what to expect, what this trip was amazing! Raoul is the best guide and he make you feel like real family. This trip went so much further than a regular trail. We created real friendship bonds and learned from each other’s cultures while experiencing beautiful nature. I will miss this experience so much and I recommend everybody to book a trail with ventura travel. Driver and families down the canyon were amazing. Please if you want to trek down the canyon instead 3am book your trip here they start at 7 am! Or else it won’t be the same. Amazing experience!

I went with my family over the holidays, and it was a great experience. Raoul met us at our hotel for a briefing the night before so we could get all the information. Remi was an amazing guide that was very knowledgeable and spoke very good English. We lucked out on the weather the whole trip, and it was nice that the trails were mostly empty due to it being the rainy season.

Review is for the 3 day trek. An authentic, local, well planned tour that combines a bit of hiking (nothing too hard in our opinion if you are generally fit) and leisure time.
positive:
+ small group (we were actually only 2 plus 1 guide and 1 driver)
+ luxurious Toyota jeep
+ great selection of restaurants and lodge/accommodation (no big groups there)
+ Great food!
+ all expenses included (even park entrance fee, etcetc)
negative:
- nothing :o)
- note: tour has its price, but definitely worth it!
special thanks to Carlos, our tour guide. He is a funny guy, very knowledgeable and has a desire to make your trip an experience you’ll not forget :-)

Some dude called us up 9am the day before our $700 3 day trip to Colca Canyon to inform us, that because trip advisor doesn’t pay them quickly enough (viator), they would be cancelling on us. This guys called directly to our hotel room and very creepily said that he would just in a cab that moment because he had to speak with us in person about something secret?! What?!? After pushing him on this a bit, he finally admitted that he had already cancelled our trip, and wanted to tell us is person... to soften the blow? Crazy.
Stay away from these criminals.
They ruined our time in Arequipa.

Dear Alisson
First: You did you the tour 2 days in advance, We understand maybe was our mistake of not adding the advance booking time, 2 days in advance hight season make us dificult to find tour guides and transportation, becuase everything is already organize in advance more than 2 days. Becuase We know your hotel in arequipa and l think for education and profesional is to talk personal, to chat and to fid the problem if is posible, because by phone is not correct but you and your boyfriend dont want to chat personaly and repit all the time by phone by phone and l still insisting please let me go to your hotel.by phone all word can be not taking very well, never chat with you about l am in a cab or chat in secred. call you 9 am wich was ok for us early and aboit problems, calll your hotel and they comuncate with your room, all your word that says meny things about you!! and your start being rude and screaming with not patiente. l tell you please, We are not screaming to you and we are talking with respet and you still screaming and just left. Wich wasnt correct we think. One more time in live everything is possible and things can be fix apologize for the situation for you. Ofcource your comment is not good for our company and team, but as a mention everyting is posible in life, we will keep going doing very well our jod as we do with all people who review us very well. everything you say about us criminals and more is exactly the happen talking by phone, us you like maybe doing it and fixing your problems, But we do not want to do it, if you have the chance to see and talk with the person better to do it.! You venever did a tour with us, You can not comment and get the experiences with us. have a good time and save travel! it is a pitty to have people like you with not pattiend and living ungry your life!

We did the 3 day Colca Canyon hike. Raul came to our hotel the day before to explain the itinerary to us and advise us on what to pack, which we really appreciated. The next day we were picked up from our hotel by our driver Armando and our guide Christian. Both were great. Christian was amazing - he knew everything about the local area, let us set the pace for the hiking, and was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout.
The trek itself was great, the scenery was beautiful, the accommodation and food were really good, and we enjoyed the chance to relax in the pool at the bottom of the canyon and the next day in the hot springs. Would really highly recommend!

We did our trek with Christian and it was a wonderful experience. We learned a lot about the canyon, the inhabitants and the Peruvian culture in general. The trek is not too hard (18 km, the hardest part is the last day). We had time to relax and enjoy the swimming pool at the oasis and the view (and the hot spring last day). The trek is expensive but worth it. We were only the two of us so we could choose the rythme of the journey. We had a nice driver and a kind guide. We did not pay anything more except the drinks (water and others if wanted). It was all inclusive. Nice experience for us ! You should do it !

It was very well organized and carried over tour. Our guide Remy was extremely friendly person with wonderful attitude to kids and very wide knowledge about the canyon but also broad knowledge about Inca and Quechua culture and heritage. It was really amazing time in real nature, the accomodation was really nice and cosy, although basic. Our children rated this trip highest among all trips and tours done during our almost 4 weeks round tour in Peru and Bolivia so you must have made really good impression on them :) Well done. Thank you very much Remy again for wonderful experience of Peru and Colca canyon !!!!

Hello,
I have a question about the option to travel to Puno from Chivay. If we want to do that are we still able to go to the hotsprings? And if we do this trek we would want to store a part of our luggage somewhere. If we do not return to Arequipa where would we leave our luggage?
