Overview translated by google
The dramatic gorge and snow-capped mountains of Cajon Del Maipo sit just south of Santiago and it's an idyllic destination to escape the city for a day. This small-group tour offers a more personalized experience, with a local guide to take you to all the best viewpoints and a picnic served against the natural backdrop.
What to Expect
Your tour begins with pickup from your central Santiago hotel. Traveling aboard an air-conditioned minivan, set out on the around 1-hour journey to Cajón del Maipo, soaking up the scenery as you leave the city behind and climb up into the Andes mountains.
Stop along the way for an empanada and to admire the region’s many natural wonders, including waterfalls, glaciers, and snow-covered mountains.
Upon arrival at Cajón del Maipo, a dramatic river gorge at the heart of the mountains, your guide takes you to one of the most impressive viewpoints to take in the natural landscapes as you sip Chilean wine and tuck into a picnic.
After refreshments, enjoy some free time to explore or take photos before you set out on the return journey. Back in Santiago, your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel.

A day out from Santiago

Our assessment is rather different from most. The journey goes through parts of Santiago you may not see otherwise and there are some great views of the Andes. The stop for coffee and empanadas is ridiculously over priced by any standards. The reservoir/lake is a...More

Gabe is a great guide and highly recommend the tour

From the moment Gabe picked us up I knew we would have a fun tour, his witty sense of humour and jokes made the drive pass quickly. We were one of first to get a good vantage place to take in the scenery and have...More

We expected more.

Our driver/guide was FRANCISCO. He was very knowledgeable, a good storyteller with his own unique style. He drove us up the mountain passes, hairpin bends and narrow tracks very carefully. Unlike the trip out of Santiago where he did over 120km/h where the limit was...More

We only had two days in Santiago, but were glad we used one for this trip out of town. Gabriel was a most informative guide and we learned a lot on the way up into the mountains. The view and the picnic were great -...More

I don't think you need to worry about the trip not happening especially if you are travieling there between November and March as that is the warmer time. This tour provider is the best.

It is possible you could make an arrangement with the guide to drop you at the airport rather than at your hotel. There would be some extra cost involved, but the taxi fare from central Santiago hotels to the airport is... More
