About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Linda O0 contributionsgreat personalized HK tourAlfred was a friendly, knowledgeable guide who expertly navigated us through Hong Kong. Our itinerary included going to Aberdeen fishing village, Victoria Peak, Symphony of Lights on the Promenade, and Temple Street Night Market. We rode the train, taxi, bus, and sampan boat. This Hello Hong Kong tour was a memorable experience in just 5 hours.Written 16 March 2025
- Federicorp20180 contributionsAmazing Complet Tour of Hong KongThe experience was amazing. Mel delivered a complete and super fun tour of Hong Kong. I had been 5 years ago in HK, and I loved it but was not really amazed by it. But after this tour, we long to return and enjoy more of the city. Mel took us to see many sites by taking us in car and also walking. We tried local fried soup dumplings in Michelin recommended street food restaurant (Cheung Hing Kee soup buns), the Tai Cheong Egg Tartas well as XTC. gelato. We visited victoria Peak, Peak tram, St John's cathedral, HSBC headquarters, Supreme Court, IFC mall and lookout, the Midlevel travellator, the Central Market, Nan Lian Garden and the Chi Lin Nunnery. Mel was super pleasant and friendly. Highly, highly recommended.Written 15 March 2025
- Journey001338763680 contributionsHong Kong private tourWe had half-day private tour with Kiyo. He is a fantastic tour guide and brings the real Hong Kong to life. He is able to quickly change the itinerary to do what interests you. We ended with a feeling we learned more about Hong Kong in 4 hours than we would have learned in days by ourselves.Written 12 March 2025
- Lyndred0 contributionsAn amazing Day in Hongkong ( Offshore excursion tour)It was an amazing experience to visit HK in one day ( cruise passenger) , and we got to see the highlights of HK. Thanks to our tour guide Alfred of Hello Hongkong Limited Tours, who make this challenging trip possible ( since we have Superseniors with limited mobility and with frequent toilet stops😄). Alfre is very knowledgeable and very kind to assist us in every possible way. It's recommended for family travelling with Superseniors.👍👍👍 to Alfred and Hello Hongkong Limited ToursWritten 9 March 2025
- Kerry S0 contributionsAuthentic taste of Cantonese cuisine in Hong Kong!We had an amazing time with our guide Alex. Being Hong Kong born and bred, he had a fantastic depth of knowledge about the history of the areas we visited, and also about Cantonese cuisine, which made for a very informative 4 hours. The restaurants and tea houses we visited, were both historical and unique in what they served…yum cha, bbq meats, wonton noodle soup etc. It is a definitely authentic taste of Hong Kong Cantonese cuisine, and the best way to spend half a day in Hong Kong. Highly recommend!Written 8 March 2025
- nickvR3878KN0 contributionsLocal and deliciousHad a fantastic time, ate so much great local food and got fantastic insights into the local cuisine and customs from our guide, Alex. Would wholeheartedly recommend!!Written 8 March 2025
- CGHaffner0 contributionsGreat tour, great food, great guide.Absolutely fantastic tour made even better by our guide, Sinclair. A truly great guy who went out of his way to show us to the best restaurants, made sure the food was excellent and shared so much knowledge with us. Even though we were late (we did phone him to let him know) he didn’t rush us or cut short our tour. As I said… a fantastic tour with a superb guide!Written 3 March 2025
- Mobile210172787110 contributionsGreat tour, customized to our requirements.Great tour. Guide knew lots about the history and culture of Hong Kong, and answered all our questions. Through out the tour he tweaked where we went according to our preferences.Written 3 March 2025
- 515roxanneg0 contributionsAmazing experience!Excellent guide! Tailored our experience for an amazing day!!!! Really enjoyed the local expertise. We chose gardens, temples, local lunch and shopping. Our guide listened and brought us to amazing local experiences.Written 28 February 2025
- Pam G0 contributionsVery Worthwhile Tour!!We went on a 4 hour Hello Hong Kong Tour. Andy and our chauffeur (I’m sorry I don’t recall his name) were amazing. They drove us out to Stanley, then up to Victoria Peak so we could take the tram down with Andy. The chauffeur picked us up at the bottom of the hill and took us to the Goldfish Market where we walked around to see all the interesting (and sometimes, unexpected) fish and plant life. After that we had a drive around the Flower Market. Andy was very knowledgeable and interesting. He kept up a consistent commentary of the places we went to, along with the history of Hong Kong and China. We highly recommend Andy.Written 23 February 2025
- 19Travelman590 contributionsAmazing day in HKAndy was amazing! THIS is the way to do HK. We rode tram, metro, ding dings, bus and ferry. No traffic, directions or parking headaches. Transit included in price, so no tickets to worry about either. Took us to locals only place for dim sum that we would have never found, amazing fruit market, in addition to Victoria Peak, Man Mo temple, nunnery, mid level escalators, great mid day sweet treat shop, Took really good care of us as my wife broke her elbow right before we left home. Andy born in HK, but went to University of California at Berkeley (Go Bears!) like my niece so we had lots to talk about. Good history info and nice balance of info on life in HK. We paid for 8, stayed with us almost 9 to make sure we got on right subway back to hotel. Been on many subway around the world, but this system is beyond believe. This tour was worth every dollar paid.Written 22 February 2025
- robertsC2457KS0 contributionsAn Amazing GuideAndy was a super guide. He showed us the real Hong Kong that most tourists don’t see. We experienced the train to see various Neighborhoods. We enjoyed French toast at a local restaurant. His knowledge of Hong Kong and Kowloon was amazing! For visitors with a limited amount of time, a guide like Andy is the way to go! - Wine-travl-luvr0 contributionsA full day seeing so much of Hong KongWe had an 8 hour tour with our wonderful guide Alfred. We splurged on a private tour since we had limited time and lots to see. He planned a route that got us to see SO MUCH, with him we were able to navigate through a lot of places and activities, some of which we wouldn’t have thought to do but were highlights of the day. We had Dim Sum at a highly rated spot that would have been difficult for us English only to order, so good. Alfred took pictures of us along the way - Ifinally have vacation photos with me in them! We had to rearrange our original plans a couple of weeks before our trip, and were able to do so easily and pleasantly via email. I highly recommend Alfred and Hello Hong Kong.Written 17 February 2025
- shantalt20250 contributionsBest Food Tour - a must when in HKBy far one of my favorite food tours . Alex was knowledgeable, welcoming, and overall cared about his group. Alex had reached out the night before providing information and photos of our meet up point which I found to be extremely helpful especially for first timers. We started off the tour with a lot of great information into Hong Kong, Cantonese Cuisine, and British Influences. Also providing insightful historial details of the dried fish markets and Chinese medicine . He was very informative and I learned a lot from this tour . All of our stops were delicious from dim sum to bbq pork . Very authentic and Michelin guide approved . It was also exciting to see the markets and even ride a tram found only on HK island also the longest escalator. Thank you Alex for the great tour . Would recommend this tour as a must when visiting Hong Kong .Written 15 February 2025
- vivienneh2260 contributionsFirst trip to Hong Kong and first tour.Mel was our tour guide and he was amazing. He took us to 2 very different temples. These were both fantastic in their own way and Mel’s information and company were both superb. We also enjoyed traditional dim sum which was a very cultural experience. I would highly recommend Hello tours and especially Mel. Thank you.Written 13 February 2025

I had a great time in this tour! It was an amazing opportunity to visit different food establishments (all which were absolutely delicious), experience a wide variety of dishes, and explore a bustling part of Hong Kong. Our tour guide Mel was very knowledgeable, accommodating and hospitable through out the entire trip. With this one tour, I was able to taste all of the street foods that the city was known for, and learn about some of the history behind each dish and the locations we visited. I would sincerely recommend this tour to anyone coming to HK.

Alex, a native Hong Konger, gave us a wonderful food and culture tour. We tasted a great variety of local cuisine at little places owned and frequented by locals in areas of Kowloon where real, working class Hong Kongers live, shop, and play. No tourist would ever find these places on their own. Between stops, Alex provided the context and the narrative about the places we were visiting and the food we were sampling. He encouraged questions and could answer almost anything related to Hong Kong. The group size is intentionally kept small, allowing all guests to introduce themselves and interact with one another throughout the tour. This tour was absolutely one of the highlights of our trip to Hong Kong.

Our tour guy was Mel, a native of Hong-Kong. He was outstanding : provided a valuable information about local shops, markets, took us to live chicken and fish markets , pet market, explained how the food was prepared. We ate too much, but it was difficult to stop , especially the roasted goose. He showed us also some neighborhoods with low income housing, local community centers where people come to play sports , to relax, in some cases to take a shower, if they don’t have it in their place. Without his advice we would have never been able to find out about these cultural aspects of live in Hongkong.
Don’t miss this tour, it’s a must.

My expectation was for a tour STARTING in Sham Shui Po markets but then moving onto other interesting locations - expecting around a 5 mile walking tour over 3+ hours. However this tour never left this authentic but impoverished area - an important eye opener, but disappointing not to experience other locations. Food choice and quality was interesting and enjoyable but definitely NOT Michelin star quality and definitely not justifying the very high cost including taxes of around 830 HKD booked directly with the Hello Hong Kong website. A price closer to 500HKD would have been more aligned with a value for money tour.
The tour guide Sinclair was very friendly and well informed doing his very best to share his knowledge which was challenging with 8 people on this Tour walking in a very busy and frenetic market area.
In summary, overall impression disappointing and didn’t meet my expectations which was not in any way the fault of the lovely guide, Sinclair.

Hi Stuart, Thank you for your honest feedback. After reviewing your experience and speaking with Sinclair, we understand that he made changes to the itinerary based on requests from certain guests on the tour. Whilst his intentions might have been good, in trying to accommodate everyone's wishes, this was a mistake, as the tour you were on has a fixed itinerary and is not one which can be adapted to suit the requests of participants. Sinclair sincerely apologizes for not delivering the full experience you booked.
Regarding the food stops, in addition to the core food stops we we typically visit two Michelin-rated/Bib Gourmand eateries. Unfortunately, only one was included on your tour, as a Michelin-rated tofu stop was removed because the group told him that they did not like tofu and did not want to go. It would have been nice if the group had tried it because from experience, we have had non-tofu lovers ending up loving the tofu after trying this food stop. We’ve addressed this with Sinclair and emphasized the importance of sticking to the original itinerary and not following preferences from individuals. He is deeply sorry and feels bad for making that decision.
Issues aside we are glad to hear that you enjoyed the food choices and that you found Sinclair to be a good guide.
We have reached out to you over email to personally address the situation. While we cannot undo your experience, we would like to rectify the situation as far as possible. We have offered you a complimentary tour or a refund.
We always strive to provide the best experience for our guests, and feedback like yours helps us improve. Have a safe trip, and we hope to welcome you back in the future.

My food tour with Mel was an absolute highlight of my trip! From start to finish, he curated an unforgettable experience, taking me to several Michelin-rated restaurants and introducing me to some of the most delicious and unique dishes I’ve ever tried. Each stop was carefully chosen, showcasing the best of Hong Kong’s culinary scene, from traditional favorites to hidden gems I never would have found on my own.
Mel’s knowledge of food, history, and local culture made the tour even more enjoyable. He explained the stories behind each dish and gave great recommendations on what to try. The variety was incredible, and I loved how he balanced the tour between well-known classics and surprising new flavors.
If you’re a foodie visiting Hong Kong, this tour is an absolute must! Mel is an excellent guide with a passion for great food, and I left feeling full, happy, and with a newfound appreciation for Hong Kong’s incredible culinary scene. Highly recommend!

This was one of the best tours that I have ever taken, and I have taken many of them in different parts of the world. Our guide, Mel, was incredibly considerate, he took care of every minute need of the group and accommodated them in the most optimal fashion. The tour itself was fascinating, giving us the opportunity to see every day life of people in Hong Kong and their culinary habits, and the sophistication of the local cuisine, which was very tasty and unique in someways. Not only we were able to , taste various delicious dishes, but the tour was also very informative in educating us on the social aspects of the life in the city. Mel is highly intelligent and well-spoken. Kudos to the Guide!

Hello! Hong Kong’s Food & Culture tour was an unforgettable culinary adventure! From the moment we began, our knowledgeable guide, Mel, took us through the vibrant streets, immersing us in the rich culture and history of this amazing city.
The highlight of the tour was undoubtedly the opportunity to sample authentic local cuisine including Rice Rolls, Egg Tart, and Pineapple Buns, just to name a few.

Wow! We had the absolute best time with our guide, Mel! ❤️
FOOD: Starting in Sham Shui Po, we explored the bustling Apliu Market and Pekho Street food market, sampling Michelin-listed delights like Hop Yik Tai’s silky rice rolls and Roasted Goose, but also more local food we propably would not have come accros on our own - like snake soup. We also vised Mammy’s Pancake in Jordan. Every stop was a culinary adventure, offering everything from egg tarts to durian fruit—a true feast for the senses! However, what impressed us the most was Mel's openness and willingness to adjust the tour to our specific interests.
CULTURE: Among the this to mention, we really enjoyed our visit at the Sam Tai Tze Temple. Here Mel shared knowledge about Doism, but again we really got impressed by his skills as a guide, when he took us to explore the skyline views from the Pekho Municipal Building and engaged us in a fascinating talk about Hong Kong’s housing and culture.
SHOPPING: In Jordan, the Yue Hwa Emporium was a highlight—I even went back later to pick up some beautiful porcelain, thanks to Mel’s great advice. The Temple Street Night Market added even more energy and local charm to the evening.
The tour was expertly planned, and Mel’s insightful guidance and warm personality made the experience unforgettable. I can’t recommend this tour enough for an authentic and delicious dive into Hong Kong life and exploring the many rich areas of Kowloon!
