Meet your guide at your central Chongqing hotel or Chongqing’s Yangtze River cruise terminal, and travel by private, climate-controlled vehicle to Ciqikou, on the Jia Ling River.
On route, hear about Ciqikou’s history as a porcelain-making center during China’s Ming and Qing dynasties (14th to 20th century). Hear how ‘ciqi’ means ceramics in Chinese, and learn how the town traded its wares along the river. Largely unchanged through the centuries, its traditional architecture and flagstoned lanes provide a captivating window into old China.
On arrival, take a guided tour, following the lanes to the waterfront to see Ming- and Qing-era buildings. View highlights including the Zhong Family Compound and Han Lin Academy, and enjoy time to browse Ciqikou’s porcelain and crafts shops.
Next, visit a restaurant for a traditional Chongqing hot pot — a famous example of Chongqing’s spicy cuisine — or if you prefer, a classic Chinese meal.
Afterward, drive to the Ronghui Hot Springs Resort, one of Chongqing’s leading thermal spas. Here, enjoy two hours free to bathe in the thermal outdoor pools, many scented with natural fragrances like rose and lavender.
Then, feeling relaxed and re-energized, finish your tour with a drop-off back at the original starting point.
