Great Wall at Mutianyu Full-Day Tour with Lunch and Pickup
From US$ 50.00
Overview
The Great Wall of China is an ancient fortification, more than 13,000 miles (21,000 kilometers) in length—it’s also China’s top attraction. Parts of the wall are in poor condition or else crowded with visitors. But, on this guided tour, you’ll visit the quieter, under-the-radar Mutianyu section, which has also undergone a complete restoration.
What to Expect
After hotel pickup, meet your guide and enjoy the scenic ride to the Great Wall at Mutianyu. At the site, you’ll have plenty of time to explore the ancient, stone-and-earth barricade.
Unlike more crowded parts of the wall that are closer to Beijing, the quieter Mutianyu is off-the-beaten-track, so you’ll be able to walk around at your leisure without jostling for space. This section of the wall was built more than 1,400 years ago during the Qi Dynasty and then refortified in 1404.
Mutianyu is also one of the longest and most picturesque wall sections. It has been fully restored, so you’ll be able to see it just as it existed in ancient times. The surrounding countryside is also famous for its fragrant pines and cypress trees. There are no less than 23 watchtowers—some you’ll be able to climb for unforgettable views. An authentic local lunch is included.

Great tour with Michael

We had a fantastic day with Michael as our guide. He spoke great English and was really helpful. Highly recommend this tour. We were told our pick up time the evening before our tour, and Michael was there to meet us in the lobby before...More

Excellent tour with Wilson!

I booked this tour for myself and a colleague. It took me a while to decide as there are so many tours doing the same at different prices, this was the cheapest. I am so glad I did not pay more as it was fantastic!...More

Great Wall in the mist

Best tour we took while in China. Punctual and informative. No shopping trips. Small group of around 9 people, not a coachload. They got us there early to avoid the crowds - definitely worth an early start. Unlucky that the Wall itself was obscured by...More

We paid £67 for each person from Wangfujing to Mutianyu Great Wall and additionally paid for the cable car/ toboggan. Lunch was basic but we were so tired that it tasted really good. Rice, chicken and some vegetables. I... More

You can walk up (not a quick thing though) and buy tickets for the toboggan going down. But I recommend taking the cable car up and toboggan down to have as much time on the wall as possible. You will be doing enough walking... More
