- Amnatravels030 contributionsBest MuseumIt was one the beautiful places that I visited. It was something nice to see the mummies there. It also has a good place to eat in.Written 21 October 2024
- claude_monnier0 contributionsInteresting Example of Greek and Roman adoption of Egyptian traditions. We visited Denderah as part of a Nile cruise. The temple is a little ways out of Louxor, but it is worth a detour: it represents how Greek and Romans ended up adopting Egyptian religion and to get accepted. The peristyle open air courtyard and other areas are beautiful and well visible still. It is worth a visitWritten 28 January 2024
- WJAM390 contributionsA deeper dive into Egypt's historyA brilliant museum which gives an insight into so much more of eygpts history. There was a wonderful exhibit on the fabrics made in the area which was fascinating. The highlight is still the Royal mummy collection and this was laid out in an atmospheric way as if heading underground to see them in era order. Had lunch with a lovely view over the river.Written 20 November 2023
- FayeLG100 contributionsFabulous!Amazing. This museum is such a good teaser for what the Grand egyptian museum will be! The layout is perfect it is not too crowded but also shows off some of the most interesting pieces of not just ancient Egyptian history but also Christian and Islamic history too! The hall of royal mummies was such a crazy thing to behold. Some of the mummies were so well preserved that they still had their eyelashes. No photos are allowed in the royal mummy area, but i think that is a good thing it is a peaceful place for them to be observed respectfullyWritten 23 October 2023
- browncondo21020 contributionsFascinating History of EgyptHere you find insight into Egyptian civilazation from prehistory to present day. This large museum overlooks Lake Ain Al-Seera. There are over 50,000 artifacts which include the gold and lapis lazuli bracelets of King Ramses 11. You will also witness Royal Mummies Hall where there are mummies of 20 ancient kings and queens. Best of all the hall contains the mummies of Hatshepsut and Thulmose 111.Written 2 October 2023
- JosephFahey0 contributionsVery Informative and Interesting Presentation of the History of Egyptian Civilization!yThe National Museum of Egyptian Civilization is certainly an experience - and a very positive one. The building is large, very spacious and the artifacts displayed in a way that the visitor can see up close those artifacts that tell so much about the history of Egypt. Visitors can see up close the mummies and, with some, what their remains actually look like! But, since mummies and pyramids make up such an important part of the Egyptian history, this particular museum also focuses on the people itself and their ways lifestyles. Well worth the trip. The building also quite impressive.Written 12 September 2023

- laczkozsu0 contributionsModern museum with old treasuresWe visited this museum with our guide, so he explained everything. We saw lots of valuable exhibits, old statues, sarcophagi, carpets etc. on the ground floor and took many photos. On the basement we couldn’t take photos but we visited the royal mummies which were transported here in the Golden Parade. It was fantastic.Written 21 April 2023

- Scenic7839620 contributionsNewer museum of Egyptian culture in CairoThe royal mummies are why we went to museum. It was about 30 min from Tahir area or Egyptian museum. This is a brand new museum with lots of parking 30 Egp for day? There is security going into parking garage, metal detector into outer courtyard of museum and 2nd one entering the museum. There is a parade of Egyptian play at 11 to 11:30 you can watch part of it on YouTube. No pictures in the royal mummies section on the lower level. Up at the top they have a circle that projects mummies and sarcophagus thar you can photograph. Upper level has informational displays from every time period. No flash photography. $240 for adult foreigners. A nice gift shop. And Cafe. They also have a audio guide. We spent less than 2 hours. I think we saw everything. There is no paper map or guide.Written 6 March 2023
- neild4930 contributionsNever ever use this Company. They completely spoiled our holiday. This Company did not show at Cairo Airport after I had already paid in advance. I spent £30 telephoning their office 12 times and they did not pick up. I ended up paying a local taxi driver 300% more and wasted 3 hours of my valuable holiday. Not a good start to my first visit to Egypt.Written 6 September 2022
- Grumo0 contributionsExcellent car serviceThe drivers and cars are excellent. Drivers are polite and punctual. They drive smoothly through the chaos of Cairo traffic. Price seems reasonable. It cost 310 LE ($22 USD at current rates) from the airport to Semiramis InterContinental Hotel on the Nile and the same for the return trip. The website was a little funky for me. Others said it worked for them. In Egypt I called the five digit express number and got a busy message. Calling their standard number (hit 1 to speak to someone. They speak English.) I got through. The person was nice, clear and professional. They will send an email confirmation. I had to call a second time to get the email. At the airport their booth is across the hall from Duty Free Travel, right by an outside door. The sign at the booth says Cairo Airport Shuttle. I recommend them highly.Written 31 May 2022
- Appy n0 contributionsAmazing display of Royal mummiesOnly went to see the Royal mummies and it was worth the visit. Great setting almost felt tomb-like. Good description of each mummy, wished I could take photos to share. The rest of the exhibits were good too.Written 29 March 2022
