Stop At: Mapu'a 'a Vaea Blowholes, Houma Corner Of Salote Rd And One Way Rd., Tongatapu Island Tonga

Watch Mother Nature shows off at the mighty blow holes! As waves crash into the reef, natural channels in the rock allow water to forcefully blow through and create an amazing sound and sight. Watch comfortably from the viewing platform and maybe even get a little ocean spray shower!

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Hufangalupe Natural Land Bridge, Tongatapu Island Tonga

This sight surely shows off Mother Nature in all her glory. The Natural Land bridge was formed by the collapse of the roof a sea cave and watching the waves crashing below is incredible and rock formations are picturesque. Your guide will assist you to get down to a great viewing spot that is safe. It can be a little slippery so good shoes are suggested.

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Ha'amonga'a Maui Trilithon, Lapaha, Tongatapu Island Tonga

See Ha’amonga, Tonga’s very own Stonehenge and learn about its mysterious origins. Constructed from three huge 40 tonne coral limestone slabs, why it was built and how it was built - no-one really knows. It sits in front of 3 paths that lead to the beach which act as a Solstice Calendar, depending on which path you see the sun rise through tells you if it's the shortest or longest day of the year! Pretty amazing and pretty mysterious ancient sight!

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Anahulu Cave - The Underground Swimming Pool, Halaliku Rd, Haveluliku, Tongatapu Island Tonga

Explore the Anahulu Cave pool, diving in headfirst into an 8-meter-deep freshwater pool. Just 50 meters from the cave’s entrance you will find Anahulu Beach, where you can snorkel and swim to your heart’s content.

Excellent Friendly Staff - A beautiful relaxing island
We had been recommended to go to Fafa Island by a few people and we decided to take a day trip (about 45 minutes by boat). This is a great place for snorkelling, canoeing and relaxing. You can hire the snorkel gear and canoes and we canoed around the island (it is only tiny). As soon as you arrive on the island for a day trip, you are given a welcome talk, choice of 3 things for lunch (includes dessert of the day) and asked what time you would like lunch. The rest of the time is yours to swim in the beautiful clear waters or relax. We enjoyed the relaxation so much we went back again the next day. Wish we had stayed in one of their Fales but they were fully booked. Staff were very friendly.

Fantastic tour guides
Our flight from Eua island was delayed for more than 5 hours, but both Sandra and Eunice greeted us at Tongatapu airport with great flexibility in the tour schedule. Although we had only about 1 hour, they took us to see the blowholes before our departure to Fiji in the afternoon. We had a big problem due to overbooking of Fiji Airways and could not get on the flight we were supposed to, but Sandra helped us greatly in negotiating with the airport staff and finding the solution. If she had not been with us, we would have ended arriving back home in Japan 2 days later. If I have a chance to visit Tonga next time, I will definitely book tours with them. They are amazingly helpful and just fantastic people.

Amazing show with great guides
We went with Sandra and Robert from Tonga travel troupe to the amazing Oholei dinner and cultural show. They picked us up from our hotel and drove us out to the venue The buffet dinner was excellent all served on banana stems and this was followed by a unique cultural show set inside a large cave. The show had a mix of local dancing combined with the excitement of the fire dance and is well worth a visit A must if you have time In Nuku’alofa

No need For Lunch!
Excursion from ship. Robbie was terrific and the tour was great. We really appreciated and enjoyed his enthusiasm and running commentary about all the places we visited. After doing the "required" Palace, Royal Cemetery, town, "flying foxes," and three-headed coconut tree, we got to the fun stuff. Do not miss the Blue Banana Beach House for the coconut demo. And eat all the delicious fruit offered. (Good shopping also.) The blow-holes (note plural) surpassed any others seen in our many years. The Megalithic Gate was fun because of the local families playing there, and the "tsunami rock" was impressive. The highlights of the afternoon were dessert balls (two flavors; forgot names) that Robbie bought our group from a roadside stand. Would do tour again. TIP: check timing and tides at start of tour if you want to see the "swimming pigs." No go on high tide.

Fantastic tour company
I can not recommend Tongan Travel Troupe more highly . I booked a multi day tour from NZ and Robbie put together a perfect selection of things to do: island tour, dinner and show , Ancient Tonga lunch experience and a church plus Tongan feast at his own home . Robbie was knowledgeable , humorous , passionate about his culture and island and a wonderfully easy guide to be with. Each of these experiences can also be booked separately but it was a hugely convenient thing to have them put together in the best of the best multi day tour . And in this way was unique especially as I didn’t have my own transport or much idea before I got there. I was picked up everyday by two guides and was given a lot of information in an easy and fun way . A truly wonderful experience of Tongan hospitality .

Fantastic Day Tour in Tonga
I am a solo traveler and I spent 2 days in Tonga. On my second day I had a island day tour booked through a company called Tonga Travel Troupe, which I had found via Viator. They were very good, very responsive and had helped me book my trip to Fafa island on the first day as well. I was picked up by my guide Eunice and her husband Marcus from the hotel at 10:00 am. The whole tour took about 4 hours, and it was great. Eunice was a fantastic guide, very knowledgeable and very interesting. I learned a lot about Tonga and what life is like here. She even showed me the village were she lives with her family. It was great day (you can find more details and pictures on my blog at ggtravelblog), and I can highly recommend Tonga Travel Troupe.

Best Tour Since a Long Time
I can‘t recommend enough these tours for other people. It was a great decision of mine to go with Tonga Travel Troupe. Because of them, I got to have the best vacation since a long time. We enjoyed every single program, from the traditional dances at Oholei until (of course) the whale swimming days. It was more than I expected and better than I thought. Highly recommended!

Awesome island tour with Robbie
At the recommendation of another traveler I took a full day island tour with Robbie. It was a really great day and Robbie was a fantastic guide. I would strongly advise booking any tours with him/this comapny. Indeed, the prices are very good and Robbie is a very nice, funny and informative guide. I also then went on to book various taxi rides through him which all went very smoothly! Thanks a lot and I hope to see you again in Tonga.

Experience Tonga!
We had a great time in Tonga! For a small island, it has plenty to offer. Highlights being, swimming in cave pools, beautiful blow holes and we fell in love with the fishing pigs! Not to be missed, a trip to church to hear the heavenly voices of the Tongan people. But the most memorable experience was the whale swim with Deep Blue Diving... Amazing! Thankyou to all the friendly locals who made our visit so enjoyable 🤗

Amazing trip!
I’d never thought of Tonga as a place I’d travel to, but visited at a friend’s suggestion and I’m so glad I did! What a hidden gem. I’ve never been much of a planner so was really happy to find that Tonga Travel Troupe organised everything from flights, to accommodation, excursions and even meals and they didn’t disappoint. Robert, our tour guide is just the nicest guy ever, with a wicked sense of humour and there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for us, including sourcing and cooking an amazing feast on the beach......with lobster. The accommodation was modest (but very comfortable) so may not suit anyone looking for a 5 star luxury holiday, but this isn’t that kind of trip. It’s focused more on adventure. The landscape is stunning, crystal clear water, perfect for floating around in, sipping cocktails! We swam in underground caves (fun!) Snorkled, jumped off shipwrecks, watched the blowholes at sunset, quite a sight. Obviously the highlight for me, and anyone doing this tour, is swimming with the humpback whales. I’d never done anything like that before and it’s the most exhilarating experience of my life. Such beautiful, big, but serene creatures. Took my breath away. With most tours, often these experiences are too short lived, but the best part was that we had the whale experience on two days of the trip so I really felt I got my money’s worth for what was already a great value trip. Would recommend this tour to anyone!

Unforgettable Experience
I really enjoyed my trip to Tonga. I was so glad everything was organised for me as this was my first overseas trip. It was a great way to meet awesome people on a beautiful tropical island. The Whale swim was amazing. I didn’t know anyone going on this trip but made heaps of new friends. It was well paced and I never felt rushed along. Food was fantastic, I tried Lobster for the first time! I knew dinners would be included but didn’t think we would get Lobster! The Oholei dinner show was so good. Again didn’t expect that! If you are thinking of swimming with Whales I highly recommend this trip. The variety of things we saw and experienced blew me away.
