    What to Expect
Come hungry and curious for this culinary adventure through the diverse food traditions of Bogotá. Over the course of this epicurean exploration, you’ll discover some of Colombia’s most typical foods, along with Bogotá’s most iconic food destinations.

Begin your tour with your choice of a morning or afternoon pickup from your Bogotá hotel, continuing to Pastelería Florida, a traditional Colombian bakery with an old-world European sensibility. Since its founding in 1936, this snack-shop-cum-restaurant has catered to Colombians from all walks of life, serving everyone from the intelligentsia to elderly grandmothers. During your visit, sample typical breakfast fare like pan de bono (cheese bread), almojabanas (cheese rolls), tamales and a cup of aguapanela, a tea alternative made with sugarcane pulp.

Next head on to Septimazo, a warren of street stalls selling delicious food along with just about every type of product under the sun. As you soak in the chaotic fun atmosphere of the market, surrounded by the sounds of Afro-Colombian music and vendors hawking self-portraits, follow your guide to the area’s top food carts. Try out the obleas, wafer cookies that are filled with dulce de leche or jam, and then wash them down with a decadent cup of chocolate santafereño, a uniquely Colombian style of hot chocolate that includes melted cheese.

Finish your tour at the sprawling Paloquemao market, the largest in the city. Take a look at the eye-popping range of Colombian produce for sale, spanning everything from exotic jungle fruits to traditional vegetables and meat and fish. Make sure to investigate the perfumed air of the herb section and check out the colorful bouquets of the flower vendors. Your guide will navigate you to the best food booths to sample various fruits, empanadas and corn arepas along the way.

After leaving the market, your transportation brings you back to your Bogotá hotel.

My guide (Juan) was very friendly and informative, he seemed to know most of the people that we encountered. I learned so much about the many fruits, vegetables and local delicacies, as well as filling my belly with good foods and drinks!
