About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- rayoboone0 contributions90 minutes at Petra22 hours of travel, including 90 minutes at Petra. This is a very late review, and I don’t know if anything may have changed — it was better than nothing, but this is absolutely not how I’d recommend someone see Petra. First of all, the people who are initially on your bus aren’t the people you’ll be with the entire day. Which is fine in itself, but comes into play later. Some people are on the one day tour. Some are on the two day tour. Some aren’t going to Petra at all, but are using the bus as a shuttle to another city. Again, this is all fine. The problems began to arise at the border. Multiple other buses showed up at the same exact time, all full of tourists using the same company. This created a massive line of people trying to get into Jordan. We spent *hours* waiting to cross. That’s not an exaggeration. I understand that some things are out of the company’s control, but this isn’t one of them. Once you cross, you get on another bus and meet the guide. This all makes sense, as it’s logical to have a Jordan-based guide/driver/bus. We made a stop at a gift shop on the way. A very, very long stop. We were there for over an hour. I’m sure the guide got a very nice commission, as lots of people were buying souvenirs. Of course when you arrive at Petra, the very same souvenirs are available all over the place…for about a third of the price. I have no problem with a guide getting a commission, but I couldn’t help but feel a little misled. I’m sure the guide knew the prices were massively inflated at the gift shop. And I’m sure he also knew he was eating into our time at the site. Between the border wait and the gift shop wait, I was left with about an hour and a half at Petra. I had to leave the group behind, in an attempt to actually see more than just the Treasury. Everyone met back up at a designated restaurant afterwards — again, I’m sure there was a nice commission to be had. Yes, the description of the tour says they can’t guarantee a certain amount of time at Petra. I fully understand that. But some things are absolutely within their control…they just choose not to prioritize the experience of their customers.Written 23 January 2025
- LeopoldWachmann0 contributionsGreat tours and fantastic peopleHello to all employees of Tourist Israel! It was a wonderful experience to be in your beautiful country! The service and contact of the people at your office is in one word great! The guide and the taxi drivers are also completely great! I really felt at home in Israel! I will come back soon and will book everything with you again! Thank you for everything and the good service! I wish you all the best!Written 7 January 2025

- leecC2911TH0 contributionsAvoid and save yourself the unpleasantness and disappointmentGifted this tour and was incredibly disappointed. Late start. No answer at the number listed for emergencies... Did not include the promised itinerary; Bethlehem had no Christmas decorations at all; no room for tourists in the churches visited--they were already full to capacity. The celebratory meal was fine and the hotel booked by the agency was fine. But the main attractions-NIL. And I did call in advance and ask if Bethlehem would be safe and functioning and was reassured it would be.Written 30 December 2024
- GreenvilleTraveler20 contributionsAvoid Tour Israel. They will cancel with short notice and not refund payment.Avoid this tour provider. While in Israel, I booked three separate day tours through Tour Israel for a total of over $400. They cancelled all three when they failed to get the minimum number of participants. In one case they booked a tour at 11:30 the day before it was scheduled and canceled it at 3:30 that afternoon. In each case they promised to refund the payment to my credit card “within 7-14 business days “. It has now been close to 21 days and no refunds have been processed. I could not help but notice how this differed from my experience in Egypt and Jordon where 2 overcharges by separate vendors were refunded to my credit card immediately. In one case, within 5 minutes. Unfortunately, Tour Israel was one of two tour companies in Israel engaging in the book, cancel and don’t refund scheme. It left a very sour taste in my mouth regarding not just these companies but Israeli business ethics in general. My Egypt, Jordan, Israel trip was a bucket list item spoiled by the multiple cancelled day tours in Israel. Failure to refund the payments adds insult to injury.Written 22 December 2024

- Robertduanedennis0 contributionsExcellent, safe, and fun tour of GalileeMax did great as a guide and our driver was safe/professional. The guide, Max was sensitive to my wife's disabilities. Max was multilingual too, knowing both Spanish and Russian, as do I. This was helpful, as I didn't need to translate to Spanish for my wife. He could speak directly with her. The tour was great also because I preferred to relax and let someone else drive for a day. We felt safe and cared for as well, given the current conflict situation. The tour was timely, fun, and educational. It was a pleasure to experience what Israel's northern Galilee region had to offer. We came to Israel to volunteer, as well as for sightseeing. We came to stand with Israel in this difficult time, and felt safe and fulfilled in doing so.Written 24 July 2024

We had SO much fun. We went for 2 hours, but next time we will take a longer trek. He took us on an amazing ride around the crater - served the best homemade cold tea ever and explained how the crater was formed with greater clarity than I've ever heard. Was absolutely very high energy and fun - but completely safe. Kids had an amazing time! We will absolutely be back and highly recommend!Written 14 July 2024

- 294bernards0 contributionsKnow the difference between a "tour" and a "transfer"Seeing that this is a touring company, I booked what I thought was a private tour to the south with a professional guide. However, they called it a "transfer" and simply provided me with a regular taxi driver at double the price of the open market. Be warned to read the small print and distinguish the difference between a "tour" and a "transfer". To their credit, the service/corresponce with the company was good and the taxi was clean and comfortable with a friendly and safe driver.Written 20 June 2024

This was my second tour with Tourist Israel. I like this company bc they are no frills, Punctual , organized, and have good guides. Our tour left Tel Aviv at 6:30 am. We did stop for coffee, bathroom break etc after an hour and a half. All fees are paid to the tour guide who will purchase tickets. You are made well aware of this in advance so you have the right amount of money. Our tour of Masada was breathtaking. Our guide Jenny was excellent. She kept us moving, maneuvering around all the other tour groups. She was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor and passion for the subject. Next off to Ein Gedi which was an oasis hike. Every school kid in Israel must have been there so my friend and I sat it out. Then on to the Dead Sea where we had 2 hours to enjoy oirselves. We were returned to Tel Aviv at 6:30. Will use Tourist Israel again next time I visit.

I did the Masada, Ein Gedi, and the Dead Sea tour as well as the full-day tour to Jerusalem during my week in Tel Aviv with Tourist Israel. Would highly recommend to anyone, but especially those traveling solo, on a budget or on limited time. Despite the potential larger group sizes, the tours were thorough, well-organized and alotted enough time to really appreciate each location. Guides were knowledgable and very passionate about their work.

Masada is the kind of place that lets you relieve history through its many hallways, rooms and Eli's (tour guide) unique way of reciting history was simply impressive! After Masada, we went on a little hike through Ein Gedi; at first I thought it was going to be "just a hike", but I was proved wrong. Ein Gedi holds impressive natural and historical value to Israel and the world.
Our last stop was at the Dead Sea, Kalia Beach and afterwards a long ride back to the hotel. Almost forgot to mention our driver Sammy and his amazing driving skills, we wouldn't have made it back home without you.
This tour is the perfect opportunity to escape the city and unwind, and for nature/history lovers. I highly recommend giving Tourist Israel a call or visit their website and book a tour, you won't be disappointed.

We bought our tour direct in agency and they said us was all inclusive. This was a lay. We arrived in the first station and they asked us 200 schicken because was extra für enter inside the rock city. We said: " we spoke in agency yesterday and they said was all inclusive..." Nothing to do and to say. The guide make scene like to calling but the answer was, of course, NO.
In this casa we had no possibility to call because we have no local sim card. We had to accept and say nothing. Accepting. Other: all good. I think and I suggest in this situation: make a map of tour home and print it. You can sparing a lot of money. We make the same in Jerusalem. Was also good. Enjoy. P.S.: for dead see buy a paar of schoes for the water. Before you pay 50-60 SCH in shop service. Also this nobody said.

Hi Maps652043, thank you for your feedback. The Masada, Ein Gedi, and Dead Sea Tour price does not include entrance fees. This is clearly stated ono ur website and in the confirmation email you get when booking. Both of these places also say exactly how much to bring with you in cash. We never claim to include these costs. We also do say in the tour description that you should bring water shoes on the tour. We are sorry if somehow all of this was unclear. Please feel free to contact us at info@touristisrael.com if you would like to discuss any issues with us.

Without a doubt, this tour was one of the most beautiful we had in the whole trip. But it wouldn't have been the same without our guide Eli Wolicki; Despite being a long tour, Eli gave due time and importance to each place we visited. His way of explaining was wonderful, his English proficiency impressive and his unique and incomparable way of being; between his jokes and his vast knowledge, the trip becomes a complete delight. Masada is a place full of magic, mystery, beauty. Ein Gedi shows the beauty of nature that Israel has, among its mountains, waterfalls, wildlife and view of the Dead Sea, make this place unique and wonderful. Dead Sea, what can I say? A place I always wanted to go to, the strangest and most unique feeling I've experienced. It is important to say that at all times Eli Wolicki gave us the necessary information before entering each of these places, he even indicated one of the best places to buy dates (which were definitely the best and at an excellent price). Thank you very much Tourist Israel for giving us a beautiful day and next to which I could assure you is one of the best tour guides you have on your team: Eli Wolicki.

Our trip was a very weird experience. The desert gets very little rain every year. The day of our tour, it was actively raining in the desert and the roads to Masada and Ein Gedi were closed due to potential flash flooding on the roads. Our tour guide, Eli, was very quick to call and figure out a game plan for the day. Instead, we went to Jordan River were John the Baptist did his baptismals and also the city of Qumran which was a very interesting cite. Fortunately, we were still able to go to the Dead Sea.
One part that was mildly frustrating is at the Dead Sea we were told that we would be leaving at 4:30. After just sitting down to get a drink, a fellow traveler on our tour told us that we were leaving almost an hour earlier than planned and to meet upstairs. Our time table was completely thrown off and we weren't able to actually enjoy the one part of our day that was a scheduled stop. We had just gotten out of the Dead Sea and weren't able to enjoy our drinks or do any shopping due to the rushed time table.
Also, I was disappointed that the tour company did not reach out as our tour was such a strange day. Yes, they found an alternative activity but it wasn't the activity that was planned. They didn't offer to reschedule us or offer anything or even check to see if we were happy with the alternatives. I understand that the weather is not in their control but exceptional customer service is within their control and I don't feel in this instance it was exceptional customer service.

Hi Katherine G, thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your tour didn't go as planned. As you said, we cannot control the weather, but as we did in this case, we always strive to find an alternative and still provide our customers with an enjoyable experience no matter what. We are sorry if you felt that we did not handle it well. Normally, if we know in advance that a tour cannot run as planned we may cancel it or inform the customers who may then take the tour on a different way if they wish. As this was a last-minute change, there was not much we could do for the group except find an alternative activity. We are glad you still enjoyed the day and were able to go to the Dead Sea. If you wish to speak further with our customer service team about the situation, please don't hesitate to reach out via email to info@touristisrael.com

Check in disorganized. There was no clear direction or instructions.
Tour guide had to collect entrance fees and spent an hour doing that instead of narrating the trip to Masada. Did very little explanation or history of the area even on the way to the next site or the rest of the day. The hike to the waterfall at Ein Gedi was extremely strenuous. Steep, long climb on rock steps. This guide gave no indication of difficulty or length so we left our water. We'd done many challenging climbs on other tours but we were unprepared for this.
The sites were beautiful although the guide seemed to feel we had to rush through Masada so we didn't get any time to explore on our own.

Dear Mark,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us,
We're sorry to hear that your expectations of the tour were not met; we're customizing the mechanism we collect entry fees to make it easier and faster. We are sorry to hear that the 1 mile and 150 m climb walk was difficult for you; it is always relatively simple for our travelers regardless of their physical fitness; moreover, our guides always make the distance plain and ask our travelers if they choose to complete the hike or wait and have free time somewhere at Ein Gedi. We hope you enjoyed your trip overall and hope to see you again soon to make your next experience even better.
Kindest regards,

Our guide was masterful. Everything shared related to the sites visited.
Our guide (lemon? Never told us her name so this is what it sounded like when I asked) was great!
The group was large and we were in the hot desert but she knew the areas and stopped in shaded areas to talk and insured everyone could hear here so non left out
Highly organized!
The only drawback to trip was eating. The “bar” is so busy and thus slow that nearly the entirety of the Red Sea time was lost just ordering and getting food (we ordered immediately upon arrival)
Also appears the buzzers they give you do not work. And food came in three parts with other orders of people behind getting food first if the spoke Hebrew and stood at the receiving counter ( not the tour or guides fault)
It was so long in fact our guide was not able to order and we had an extra so we shared the extra meal with her and she saved us by helping “push through” our order!
If not it is 100% likely we would have been one of the first to order and not had time to eat at all!
Because she helped we had 20m to see the sea and to shop!
Tour need another place for food that doesn’t consume your
Otherwise it was an amazing tour! Favorite so far, Thank you

Masada was breathtaking and captivating, the view, the history, simply unforgettable. Although it was quite crowded, I think our guide managed to communicate all the important information he possibly could have. Ein Gedi was a true hike experience, easy enough to do in sandals and refresh your feet (or your whole self :) ) in cute little ponds, added with waterfalls for beautiful pictures. I liked the time to explore for ourselves. I feel a bit sad we didn't spend more time at the Dead Sea, but it was great either way.
Special thanks to both our driver and guide, both were very pleasant and easy to talk to people.

Our tour guide Ellicia was very organised and knowledgeable on the history on the Masada and en gedi, tour starts early so get a early night as some walking up stairs. I read about the Evis Presley diner stop off and I loved it they give you a cuppa in a real mug you can keep, which is lovely. It is a long day but so worth doing all three in one day. Ending at the Dead Sea was lovely it wasn’t busy as low seasons but next time I will do a day trip just to there for the day as there is a pub and restaurant that’s does the best vegan falafel pitta I’ve ever had. This is a truly great tour with tourist Israel I recommend. Allow for extra tips and entry fees

Is the GreenPass required to attend this trip? If so, how many vaccine doses are required?
Written 6 August 2022
Hello, the best idea is to check the Tourist Israel website for entry requirements to Israel. There should be a link on the site which states the rules applying to travellers from different countries. When I visited in March 2022, if you had a green pass, this enabled you to go anywhere within Israel, subject to the normal security restrictions.
If you do need a green pass, this may depend on whether you have been vaccinated against Covid and the type of vaccine you have had. Bear in mind that the rules are updated according to Covid variants so they may change between booking your holiday and the actual date of travel. As above, check the Tourist Israel website or email them for the current information.

It depends on traffic. On this particular day, it took us two hours to go from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv so we didn't get back until 7:30
