About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- tinav580 contributionsBuyer bewareDon't bother booking with this company they take your money send you a confirmation the night before but nobody picks you up nor do they answer the phone and they say you will be reimbursed just to shut you up 2 weeks later I'm still trying to get my money and I've returned home. Very bad business and I'm not the only person with this experience with this company also had it happen with another company in Israel. Third time I actually contacted another company to confirm before I booked and it was half price from this company. This company should be put out of business.Written 7 February 2025
- GreenvilleTraveler20 contributionsWould not book with them againTourist Israel Tel Aviv Avoid Tour Israel. They will cancel with short notice and not refund payment. 985672839 Avoid this tour provider. While in Israel, I booked three separate day tours through Tour Israel for a total of over $400. They cancelled all three when they failed to get the minimum number of participants. In one case they booked a tour at 11:30 the day before it was scheduled and canceled it at 3:30 that afternoon. In each case they promised to refund the payment to my credit card “within 7-14 business days “. they did not process the refund until after I had been home for over a month, complained on their website and posted a negative review. I could not help but notice how this differed from my experience in Egypt and Jordon where 2 overcharges by separate vendors were refunded to my credit card immediately. In one case, within 5 minutes.Written 4 February 2025
- rayoboone0 contributions90 minutes at Petra22 hours of travel, including 90 minutes at Petra. This is a very late review, and I don’t know if anything may have changed — it was better than nothing, but this is absolutely not how I’d recommend someone see Petra. First of all, the people who are initially on your bus aren’t the people you’ll be with the entire day. Which is fine in itself, but comes into play later. Some people are on the one day tour. Some are on the two day tour. Some aren’t going to Petra at all, but are using the bus as a shuttle to another city. Again, this is all fine. The problems began to arise at the border. Multiple other buses showed up at the same exact time, all full of tourists using the same company. This created a massive line of people trying to get into Jordan. We spent *hours* waiting to cross. That’s not an exaggeration. I understand that some things are out of the company’s control, but this isn’t one of them. Once you cross, you get on another bus and meet the guide. This all makes sense, as it’s logical to have a Jordan-based guide/driver/bus. We made a stop at a gift shop on the way. A very, very long stop. We were there for over an hour. I’m sure the guide got a very nice commission, as lots of people were buying souvenirs. Of course when you arrive at Petra, the very same souvenirs are available all over the place…for about a third of the price. I have no problem with a guide getting a commission, but I couldn’t help but feel a little misled. I’m sure the guide knew the prices were massively inflated at the gift shop. And I’m sure he also knew he was eating into our time at the site. Between the border wait and the gift shop wait, I was left with about an hour and a half at Petra. I had to leave the group behind, in an attempt to actually see more than just the Treasury. Everyone met back up at a designated restaurant afterwards — again, I’m sure there was a nice commission to be had. Yes, the description of the tour says they can’t guarantee a certain amount of time at Petra. I fully understand that. But some things are absolutely within their control…they just choose not to prioritize the experience of their customers.Written 23 January 2025
- LeopoldWachmann0 contributionsGreat tours and fantastic peopleHello to all employees of Tourist Israel! It was a wonderful experience to be in your beautiful country! The service and contact of the people at your office is in one word great! The guide and the taxi drivers are also completely great! I really felt at home in Israel! I will come back soon and will book everything with you again! Thank you for everything and the good service! I wish you all the best!Written 7 January 2025

- leecC2911TH0 contributionsAvoid and save yourself the unpleasantness and disappointmentGifted this tour and was incredibly disappointed. Late start. No answer at the number listed for emergencies... Did not include the promised itinerary; Bethlehem had no Christmas decorations at all; no room for tourists in the churches visited--they were already full to capacity. The celebratory meal was fine and the hotel booked by the agency was fine. But the main attractions-NIL. And I did call in advance and ask if Bethlehem would be safe and functioning and was reassured it would be.Written 30 December 2024

- Robertduanedennis0 contributionsExcellent, safe, and fun tour of GalileeMax did great as a guide and our driver was safe/professional. The guide, Max was sensitive to my wife's disabilities. Max was multilingual too, knowing both Spanish and Russian, as do I. This was helpful, as I didn't need to translate to Spanish for my wife. He could speak directly with her. The tour was great also because I preferred to relax and let someone else drive for a day. We felt safe and cared for as well, given the current conflict situation. The tour was timely, fun, and educational. It was a pleasure to experience what Israel's northern Galilee region had to offer. We came to Israel to volunteer, as well as for sightseeing. We came to stand with Israel in this difficult time, and felt safe and fulfilled in doing so.Written 24 July 2024

We had SO much fun. We went for 2 hours, but next time we will take a longer trek. He took us on an amazing ride around the crater - served the best homemade cold tea ever and explained how the crater was formed with greater clarity than I've ever heard. Was absolutely very high energy and fun - but completely safe. Kids had an amazing time! We will absolutely be back and highly recommend!Written 14 July 2024

We took a private tour that included border crossing service, a driver, a night in Petra, tour of Petra, a tour of Wadi Rum in a pickup truck and a night in a “Bedouin tent” hotel. The company was very responsive and tailored the tour to our needs both in planning and during the trip. We left our rental car in the parking lot at the border without incident, The border crossing service was excellent—timely and helpful (though not really necessary—it’s quite straightforward). But they outsource the services in Jordan and the results are decidedly uneven. The hotel in Petra was a dump, with a dirty stained shower curtain, beat up furniture, terrible food and a clueless staff. They gave us a room that was already occupied—the reception guy who took us up woke up the sleeping guest! The guide at Petra was very knowledgeable and very nice but upsold us—essentially “you bought the standard tour but I can provide the really good tour for $170 more.” And both our drivers, while very nice, stopped for supposed bathroom breaks at souvenir shops—presumably they get a kickback. Overall it was not good value.

The trip wasn’t anything as advertised. We spent 2 hours total in Petra vs the 5 hours promised. Tourist Israel also wasn’t upfront with the fact they aren’t the ones actually running the tour. The tour was outsourced to local tour group and had very low standards (ie doesn’t reserve time for bathroom etc)
I am a female travelling solo and paid for a Martian tent ahead of time and was told the camp site was “full” when I got there. I was also asked to share a room with another (male) solo traveller even though I paid additional $50 for a single room. I had to really put my foot down to get my own room!
The description said we’d have options to do hot air balloon on top of camel ride etc. what we got was a Jeep ride in a dessert and taken to a tourist trap where the camel rides were 5 minutes long.
When we got back to Aqaba. The local tour guide there had issues with time management. He took us to a restaurant that took way too long and he forgot to come back for us at the pre set time!! We nearly missed the border crossing time back to Israel as the border closes at 3pm!! We got there at 2:55pm.
We also had major issues crossing the border from Israel to Jordan. We were dropped off in individual taxis at the Israeli border to cross to Jordan. Our taxi didn’t drop us off at the right meeting point and we couldn’t reach / find any Tourist Israel representative to brief us on the crossing. We had to get through everything on our own and even found random tourists who were part of the tour that were equally as stranded. When we crossed to the Jordanian side there was supposed to be a local representative waiting for us. Obviously we had no idea given no one even told us about it. Somehow we found others on the tour and said we had to look for “Romsy” and that was it! Nothing else was provided. We looked and waited for Romsy for an hour. It was disorganized.

Overall a great experience to see wadi rum and petra. Great tour guide on Jordanian side. However the worst ever accomodation experience in sand rose desert camp. Terrible “deluxe” tent with incredible poor “bathroom”, room without windows and lots of mosquios, avoid if you can, but since tourist israel is not allowing to choose and they dont give a sh..t about your preference for camp selection that you write in reservation, well i must say its just gambling…(ptherrs in the same bus had a much better quality camp like rum magic ot hussain camp) also sand rose camp had no real entertainment, just some dinner and staff dancing with guests on age old western disco songs, nothing like genuine bedouin show or experience, even if you order a shisha, they close down lights in central area, kind of push to get the hell out of here, go and dig yourselves in the tent, we dont want to have you here style… all this at arround 9-10 in the evening. Also tourist israel promises on website several centralized pick up and drop off locations in Eilat. This is a not true! Only Club hotel is offerred with no flexibility. So if you are in Coral Reef area expect an additional taxi ride.

Please stay away from this company. They ruined our family’s trip to Israel, one we had looked forward to—and saved for—for a very long time. We booked a private tour to Petra and were never informed that the Jordanian border is closed on that day. Our entire itinerary was planned around the Petra trip. Had they informed us about this closing even a week before the tour date, we may have been able to reorganize our itinerary and cancel/rebook hotels without fees imposed. The only reason I found out about the closing was because I emailed them on June 22 to confirm our pick up time for June 24. At that point, they informed me that they were very sorry, but the tour had to be moved to Sunday. Because cancellation and rebooking was going to cost upwards of $1000, we were unable to move the tour to Sunday and thus missed out on Petra completely. This company put a damper on our trip that I have a hard time putting words to. Both my daughters were devastated. Worst of all, this company could care less. I requested to speak to someone, but was refused this: all communication was wholly impersonal via emails that were infuriating in their nonchalance. Do not book with them, please. I wish I had listened when other reviewers had complained.

We had the best two days traveling to Jordan from Eilat with Tourist Israel. They have wonderful communication ahead of time, including all of the information, documents, and cash-on-hand you will need to cross the boarder. One across, we were met by Ala'a, our driver. He was fantastic, knowledgeable, and funny. We learned so much about life in Jordan during our time together.
Tourist Israel arranged a seamless tour of Wadi Rum, the jeep safari through the desert, helped us with the upgrade we wanted to stay at the Bubble Luxotel, a guide in Petra, and transfer back to the boarder. There were camel rides, star gazing, new foods tried, and amazing family memories made. Our six year old daughter is still talking about her first camel ride!
We look forward to more adventures with Tourist Israel in the future!

I had a really good time in this trip. As a solo female traveler it was nice to be in a small group of people. I booked just a few days before and the communication with the office was fast and easy. To be supported while crossing the boarder was really helpful. All the drivers, guides and helpers at the boarder were really nice and able. This tour offers a good mix of guided time and free time. I felt really secure and the whole organisation felt smooth. I can recommend this tour to this interessting and beautiful places in Jordan.

We got off to a rough start and had a horrible end to the trip, but everything in between was well worth the headaches of the border crossing. First, we had a bad experience crossing into Jordan from Eilat. Mostly because the guide was late to meet us. After he arrived he was able to take care of the problem. Going back to Israel was a nightmare! 2 hours! And no help. Our guide dropped us on the Jordanian side and left. No help from the Israeli side. Warning! cell phones don't work well at the crossing! Get everything done on the internet before trying to cross. Credit cards do not work well over to pay over the cell phone. I tried 4 cards, all no country restrictions but they would not work to pay to enter Jordan. I called all 4 card companies and they all said is was on the Jordan side. So Get JD before you go!!
Now to the trip! Well worth the trouble. Even with all the problems, I would do it again. One day in Petra is not enough! You can not imagine and pictures can not show the majesty of this site. A friend told me Wadi Rum was better than Zion National Park. Well, in my opinion, close but not quiet! The "jeep tour" was in the back of an old pickup truck with two bench seats in the back. The truck sounded like it wasn't going to start every time he shut it off. The driver spoke no english but we were able to point and my limited arabic got us through the tour. The night in the Oasis was fine. The rooms were adequate and clean and the food was great.

Hello there
Thank you very much for sharing your feedback!
First of all, I am happy to hear that you enjoyed your time in magical Petra!
However, I am sorry to hear that you had a bumpy start and end of the tour.
Since you have joined one of the first Petra tours after 2 years, I agree that the border situation was not the best yet, and we are seeing improvements since then.
I appreciate your feedback, as it helps us to improve our services and information!

Our 2 day tour was PERFECT! Everything went so smoothly and efficiently!! We were so impressed. We were a family of 5. We were picked up On time from our apartment in Eilat and driven to the Rabin border. We were met by Clive and given specific instructions for a smooth border crossing. Must have CASH! Our crossing took about 15 minutes. Once we crossed into Jordan, we were met by Ramsey, our Jordan representative. He assisted us with a smooth entry. Then he directed us to our driver, Bahia. He drove us to Petra. He was so kind and professional. Once in Petra, we received a lunch. In Petra, we met our guide who spent 3 hours with us. He was so knowledgeable and experienced. After Petra, Bahia met us to drive us to Wadi Rum. Once in Wadi Rum, we were taken care of with wonderful, friendly service and lovely, yet simple accommodations. Our tent had AC, electricity, bathroom and shower. It was very clean. The next day, Bahia met us in the morning to take us back to the border crossing. The sites were amazing and unforgettable!! This experience could not have gone more smoothly or perfectly. Thank you!!!!!

Only tour I found from Eilat as opposed to Jerusalem/Tel Aviv. We has a fantastic tour guide (Adnan) who made our first day amazing. Off-roading in the desert was also very fun :) It was nice to have several hours on the second day to explore Petra - I definitely recommend against doing the 1 day tour - it will be rushed and you won’t be able to see much at all. I docked one star for the accommodations- I paid extra for the upgraded room with AC but they had me down for a regular tent. It got sorted eventually but the AC was pretty weak. Also the door did not fit the frame well so there were many open cracks - as a result I woke up mauled by mosquitos and there were mouse droppings in the bathroom. The food was good though.

Many thanks, ClairyBeary, for your review and feedback of our Petra and Wadi Rum tour, how special to hear it was the highlight of your 3-week vacation!!
Sounds like you had a memorable adventure and creating lasting memories of your time in Jordan! We are also happy you were able to upgrade your accommodation and felt more comfortable.
We are sorry to hear the mosquitos got you at night - this can be unavoidable regardless, but we, of course, have followed up directly with the Bedouin Camp.
We thank you for choosing Tourist Israel during your 3-week vacation, and hope we will see you again in the region in the future!
