About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- H3080PBsarahw0 contributionsUnprofessional, stressful waste of moneyWe booked Eskapas' Best of Italy and France Tour, and were incredibly disappointed with the service provided. The Eskapas website indicates "Our groups are mid-size to give you a better experience but also to offer a competitive price", there are reviews indicating folks made new friends with their group, and the tour listed a maximum group size of 40 people. This does not actually mean their tours are guided, group experiences. You will be handed a PDF of documents and be expected to execute on an itinerary of transit and half day tours filled with people you will never see again. This model only works if the tour company is actually providing accurate information. Instead, the itinerary was wrong (either time or location) on almost every single item. Tour information provided was inaccurate: - We were 25 minutes late for a tour because we were given the wrong location and time, and it was only through the kindness of the direct tour operator that we were able to join the tour at all. - Information for another tour was entirely inaccurate. After speaking with Eskapas, it became clear they were well aware of the inaccuracies but had not bothered to communicate an updated itinerary, despite being asked directly for further information. - We would have missed two more tours had we not contacted the companies providing the tour directly, which we were only able to do after asking repeatedly for original confirmation documents from the direct tour providers given the frequency of Eskapas failings. Not a single tour in the itinerary was accurate - each was at a different time, to different places, or departed from a different start location. Car transfers failed to arrive: - Drivers were told incorrect pick up times, leaving us waiting until we ultimately found other means of transport to our destinations. - On one occasion, we were then bombarded with a slew of messages from the driver over an hour after our train had arrived. Despite Eskapas knowing that we had already found our own way to the hotel, they clearly had not bothered to inform the car service that the pickup was no longer necessary. Attention to detail was nonexistent: - We arrived at our final hotel only to be told they had no record of our reservation. We finally found the reservation in their system, made for 2026 instead of 2025, and got very lucky as it was not peak season so they could still accommodate us. After we complained about this stressful and chaotic experience, we asked for a partial refund given it was so unprofessional and different from what was advertised. Eskapas gave us a laughable (2.5%!) refund and claimed that no compensation was required for tours that were "completed", regardless of whether we missed half the tour due to their errors and reluctance to put us in touch with the people they bought all the experiences from. I cannot underscore enough how much I wish we had just planned our own vacation. Eskapas provided an experience equivalent to an overpriced, under communicative, incompetent travel agent. Something went wrong every single day of our trip, things which were entirely avoidable had Eskapas been competent enough to provide the services they are marketing. Save your money, save yourself an unquantifiable amount of stress, and book with literally anyone else.Written 23 March 2025
- tmmichelangeloh0 contributionsOutstanding birding tour in and around Istanbul!I did a day-long birding tour outside of Istanbul with Dogan Bilge, an experienced birder and brilliant photographer. He brought me to some amazing sites in woodlands and waterways in the Istanbul area, and was knowledgeable and kind and very responsive to my interests. I have gone on birding tours around the world, and my Eskapas guide Dogan Bilge was one of the best guides I have ever had! I do suggest that you go on your Turkish birding tour soon: there are very few areas that are protected from commercial development, and bird habitat is seriously threatened. The staff/managers at Eskapas were very helpful, and the price of the tour was quite reasonable- highly recommended!Written 26 August 2024
- lovetotravel3510 contributionsTurkish delightWe had a wonderful time. Our Tour Guide Ozgur Arisoy was outstanding as well driver Hasan. The food was great as well as hotels and tours. The only set back is that one of the tour passenger was coughing all the time and even though we stopped at the pharmacy and got her cough syrup, it didn't help. She had a virus that made most of the passengers sick. My wife and I came back with coughs ' It is too bad . Otherwise it was a wonderful and delightful tripWritten 23 May 2024
- JoPope20140 contributionsPrivate birding guide, 4 day trip from IstanbulWe requested a birding guide for a 4 day trip from Istanbul. Dogan was extremely knowledgeable, a very keen bird photographer and had high energy! We enjoyed his company and our conversations were wide reaching as we drove from location to location . We visited key birding sites from Istanbul on the first day and then drove to lovely small town of Iznik and then onto the charming village of Golyazi. Both were on lakes and as it was May, towards the end of the migration season and also mid breeding season we saw a lot of birds. Ismail of Eskapas arranged for our trip and he was helpful, flexible and paid attention to detail.Written 18 May 2024
- Meander531900809340 contributionsThe reveal of stunning scenesNo words can describe this unending daily reveal of stunning scenes – This is a terrific journey into a beautiful part of Italy. Great food/wine and all that contributes to a 10 of a trip! Luca, our guide, was so knowledgeable, interesting and funny. The itinerary was diverse and well-balanced. We loved the pacing of the trip, because we walked a lot each day. Food and wine of course was absolutely incredible, and we were able to try several things we had not had before. We strongly recommend this trip.Written 13 May 2024
- Getaway328496365540 contributionsA fantastic timeWe had an amazing time! The accommodations were immaculate, the bus journeys went without a hitch, and Rocio, our tour guide, was kind and helpful during the trip! The meals were fine. The places we went were ideal and historically significant! There was a lot of walking, and our guide made sure to check on us frequently. The quality / price ratio is excellent! If this is your first time visiting Italy, we highly recommend this tour!Written 13 May 2024
- masaeh20210 contributionsBest Of Greece | 11 DaysThanks to Alex and his team, my husband I had a great time in Greece. In the first week, we attended a bus tour with other participants to visit the World Heritage. In the second week, we visited two islands on our own. We were blessed with warm and good weather for two weeks and enjoyed everything before Greece gets crowded. Every local staff told us it was the best timing to visit Greece now. As we could have great experiences, we are already exploring the next trip back to Europe.Written 12 May 2024
- gopcs0 contributionsDisappointingMy wife and I enrolled in a tour of Italy through Eskapas Tour company Mama Mia! The Best Of Italy. Our previous experiences with European tours has been with Viking and American Express Tours. Day 1 - Arrival in Rome. The Itinerary provided by Eskapas stated “You will be met by our driver/assistant with a sign of your name” at the Rome airport. Didn’t happen. I had previously installed the cell phone app WhatsApp, and I received a call from the driver. He said he would be here in 5 minutes. Then he called, said he was here. There were about 20 drivers standing around with a sign showing a name. Not one had our name. So I called the driver, told him where I was standing. He said he was standing at the same place! So I started just walking around looking for someone talking on their phone. I saw a man in his 20’s that seemed to be answering my questions. Yes, it was our driver, standing in a foot traffic area, not in the area of other drivers, and not holding any sign. He directed us to his car and drove us to the hotel. Day 2 - Rome Our itinerary called for a tour of the Vatican City. “After breakfast you will join a 3-hour guided tour of the Vatican City at 8:30 am.” It goes on, “The tour starts at Viale Giulio Cesare 229, at the door of the Giulio Cesare Cinema (100 meters from the metro stop Ottaviano, Line A). Please arrive 10 minutes earlier.” So, we were expected to find our way from our hotel to the train station, never having set foot in Italy before. The clerk at the hotel desk was little help, just pointing in the direction we were to go to find the train station. We finally found the train station with help from folks on the street. We had problems with the automated ticket machine taking our credit card, so we paid with Euros. We followed the signs to the Train Line A, and got on the train. Soon after leaving the station, I noticed that our train stop “Ottaviano” was not listed as a stop. So I asked a man next to me if this was Line A. No, he says it is Line B. A kind lady told us what to do to get to Line A. We got on the Line A and exited at the Ottaviano stop. We arrived at Giulio Cesare Cinema at 8:35. We missed our tour. I tried to call Sinan at Eskapa. I finally reached him at 8:45. He said he was in Belgium and couldn’t help us. We had to purchase 2 additional tickets for the Vatican Tour, $182.90. No refund. As far as Eskapas is concerned, we were “no-shows”. Day 3 - Sorrento We were with different folks, not the same group each day. In Sorrento we were driven to the Grand Hotel Vesuvio. The hotel was very nice. We arrived in Sorrento at 5:30 pm, and departed at 7:30 am the next morning, so we didn’t have opportunity for any sight-seeing there. The itinerary stated, “Elegant Attire is required for the dinner in Sorrento. Dress code: jacket for men.” So I had packed a suit, and my wife packed a nice dress. There were about 125 folks at the dinner, and I was the only one wearing a jacket. Everyone else was in street clothes. I was aggravated that Eskapas had said to pack the jacket that was not at all necessary. The remaining days were pretty much as described in the itinerary. One exception is the lunch in Capri on Day 4 was to be provided by Eskapas. We were on our own for lunch, and paid for our own lunch. I am trying to get reimbursed for that meal. Another interesting note: There was a man on our tour that was by himself. Trying to strike up a conversation, I asked him what he did for a living. He is from Canada and employed in the travel industry. There had been some problems reported on these tours, and he was basically auditing the tour. I told him that we had booked the tour through Eskapas, and I described the problems in Rome and that we had missed out Vatican Tour, and had to purchase additional tickets. He was familiar with Eskapas. He said they are a tour wholesaler, not a tour operator. So, evidently there have been problems reported with this company. Conclusion: We will not use Eskapas in the future. I suggest anyone to look elsewhere.Written 22 April 2024
- roberttc20240 contributionsA real Italian discoveryThis was one of the best trip I ever had! Beautiful scenery, great food, but most importantly friendly people. Mario, our guide for the ten days, made the holiday extra special as she was a superb leader who always was kind to everyone. Breakfasts were good. The red wine was much appreciated.Well, I highly recommend.Written 4 April 2024

- I3459PIaxelb0 contributionsMamma Mia! Best of Italy By Eskapas reviewOur tour guide, Luca, was an extremely knowledgeable, which greatly enhanced our trip. Although I had expected a more leisurely pace, the tour was still enjoyable, even though a bit fast-paced and intense. Luca went above and beyond to ensure that the tour was excellent, even purchasing local delicacies for us in different cities and doing everything he could to resolve any issues that arose. We visited many amazing places and, in comparison to other tours I've been on, the accommodation and food provided on this tour were generally superior. Additionally, the hotels were conveniently located in the city center, making it easy to explore on our own when we had free time. Although we felt a bit rushed at times, and I would have preferred to linger in certain places, the tour gave us a great taste of Italy, leaving me eager to return at some point in the future.Written 4 February 2024

- 738candacem0 contributionsAn unforgettable experienceMy daughter and I took the best of Turkey and Greece 14 day tour. It was amazing!! Everything came off without a problem. Our guide for Turkey for the first 8 days was Oz and he was fabulous, patient, knowledgeable and helpful. Our group was amazing only 16 in all so got yo know everyone. The experience was incredible. Next we went to a cruise to 3 islands on a beautiful cruise ship and departing in Athens for the remainder of sir trip. All our accommodation were first rate and the experience will last a life time. Thank you for making these beautiful memories possible. I would recommend this tour and your company to all.Written 12 October 2023
- caramellokoala0 contributionsThink twice before bookingThis was the INDEPTH CULTURAL TOUR - ANATOLIAN CIVILIZATIONS 10 day tour. We started and completed our tour in Istanbul. Istanbul to Ankara is approximately 400kms. Why not rearrange the itinerary to leave Istanbul first thing because it’s a long drive and we arrived very late. The room was lovely however the service and food served were both appalling at Ramada Ankara. Day 2 Cappadocia - approximately 300kms The hotel was woeful however their meals were great. The mausoleum and the changing of the guards was interesting. The underground city wasn’t worth stopping for. The optional balloon ride was the highlight of the trip and although quite expensive, worth the money. The rug store and jewellery place were a waste of time. These need to be cut out altogether. Why not stop at a textile factory? Sure, there might not be any kickbacks but Turkey produces some of the world’s best textiles. Someone must be getting a kickback for bringing loads of tourists to these shops. PAM hotel at Pamukkale, the food was disgusting. The placement of the rooms with steps was not conducive for carrying luggage, especially for some of the older people on the tour. Day 7 this time we stopped at a leather production store. There was no producing going on here. This was another tourist trap where they sell fake brands. One of the tourists asked if the receipt was in the bag and the reply was we don’t issue receipts. (No receipt would indicate something dodgy is going on) Day 8 we didn’t go to Troy. We were taken there before sunrise the following morning and it was still dark. Photo opportunities, little to none! Gallipoli and Anzac Cove were worthwhile. I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to see some of Istanbul to consider flying between cities and booking local tour companies. I definitely would not recommend this tour. All we did was sit on a bus all day, and stop at overpriced bus/truck stops for lunch. Our driver and guide were both fabulous.Written 30 September 2023

The tour has been well planned and executed. Hotels were mostly good.
I would say that the cave hotel upgrade isn’t worth the price, at least for the hotel I paid extra for the service was bad and they put me in a room that was in direct range of the party zone so I couldn’t sleep well both nights I stayed. Perhaps don’t use Yunak again as a provider.
The guide was well informed and gave us a lot of historical context about where and what we were seeing. The bus driver drove safely and accommodated us when we needed emergency bathroom breaks.
I would recommend this for anyone doing their first trip in Turkey.

“La Plus Belle” tour of Turkey by Eskapas was one of the best experiences of my life with outstanding, professional service throughout!
Before, during, and after booking my tour, Ismail patiently answered all of my questions online usually within an hour of sending my text.
Even more impressive was our tour guide, Sükrü. Sükrü is the best guide I’ve ever met and went out of his way to accomodate any wishes I had.
For example, when I decided to leave the tour temporarily in order to go paragliding, Sükrü helped me buy my bus ticket and checked up on me until I was safely back with our group the next evening.
Sükrü is organized, friendly, patient, flexible, extremely knowledgeable about the history of each site we visited, and above all, very very funny. Simply put, Sükrü has the perfect personality for a tour guide and clearly enjoys teaching people from all over the world about the rich history and culture of his country.
Along with Sükrü was our very safe and kind driver, Ömer. One day when I was sick with a terrible cold and skipped an excursion, Ömer stayed with me and made sure the restaurant brought lots of hot tea and honey for my throat. He spoke a little English, but I spoke no Turkish so we ended up talking about our lives using Google Translate for a couple of peaceful hours. I looked forward to Ömer’s cheerful smile every morning when he picked us up at our hotels for another exciting day.
Visiting Istanbul, Cappadocia, Pamukkale and everywhere else was amazing, but for me Sükrü and Ömer made this trip unforgettable. I give La Plus Belle Tour of Turkey by Eskapas 10/10!!!

The Eskapas 10 day Anatolian tour of Turkey was by far the best experience for my month stay in Turkey. Most of my trips in the past to countries include too many stories about how things went wrong when traveling and planning trips myself. The Eskapas tour started off great with me being picked up by Eskapas at the Turkey airport exit and ending well with a driver picking me up at the scheduled 2am time to get me back to the airport after the tour. I give Ismail the credit for arranging the airport transfers which took the pressure off me. Reading other Eskapas positive reviews mentioning Ismail’s name and her tour arrangement success was one of the deciding factors for me using Eskapas.
Now for the tour, I was not doing too well after drinking Istanbul tap water before starting the tour. Nader, the tour guide found me an open pharmacy on a Turkish national holiday when most pharmacies were closed. I and the tour group appreciate him finding that pharmacy.
Nader has been leading tours for over 30 years In Turkey and had informative responses to any and all questions. I learned a lot about the Turkey culture from him that I would have missed had I planned this tour on my own.
The quality of hotels we stayed at far exceeded my expectations. It was pleasant to have a conversation with others on the tour discussing if a hotel was a 4 or 5 star.
I expect to book a tour next year to Egypt using Eskapas.
Lessons learned, don’t drink the public water in Turkey and take an Eskapas tour.

This is the best way to experience the highlights of Turkey!!! All of the stops, the time spent traveling, each stop, each historical site was all well thought out and planned! The upgrade to the Cave Hotel was the highlight! And the tour wouldn’t have been the same without Eray! He was so kind, cared about every single person and detail, and made our experience top notch!! Our driver was next level as well- so nice and always happy!! Thank you so much for the most memorable experience!!
