A professional English speaking tour guide will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to the killing fields of Choeung Ek Genocide Center – 9 miles away south of Phnom Penh. The infamous killing fields have a bloody history. Once an orchard and a Chinese cemetery, the Khmer Rouge, lead by Pol Pot, turned the place into what became known as the killing fields, where they executed around 2.000 prisoners. Over three years, they massacred and buried 2.5 million people. After remembering the dead, return to Phnom Penh to visit Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S21). Meaning hill of the poisonous trees, Pol Pot turned a once popular high school into a high security prison. 20,000 people were imprisoned there, many of whom were tortured for information. Today it serves as a museum and a reminder of darker days. Your guide will return you to your hotel or guesthouse. you could ask any question tour tour guide

        Harrowing but must do!
A fantastic tour about the harrowing history of Pol Pot’s regime and Cambodia’s history. A must do whilst in the country. Baboon was a phenomenal tour guide and shared such a powerful personal story and experience, and really allowed us to understand the magnitude and recentness of the genocide.

        A sad but professional tour
We enjoyed the tour. Professional, collection and drop off at hotel/preferred location, a good amount of time in each location and guide spoke English well. The tour naturally was sad but Mr Baboon explains the history and Cambodia’s take on their history from a culture perspective in an informative way.

        Emotional
It is always difficult to review such a trip as it almost feels disrespectful giving ratings to such an emotive tour. Our guide Baboon gave an excellent history and quite emotional experience to the tour. Only by going on it can you reconcile your own feelings with such inhuman barbarosity. Recommended

        A necessary tour
Our tour guide, Sum Cheath, was very caring and explained in great detail. The tour is an important part of Cambodian history and it's a must to understand a piece of the culture and history. Sum did a great job of explaining the genocide. Everything was timely and he had great recommendations as well.

        What an experience
What a passionate, informative and thorough tour from our guide Sum Cheath inspite of the gravity of the subject. So much I didn't know or fully understand before. I recommend this tour.

        Moving Experience, Well Organized Tour.
This tour was a moving experience that offers insights under the Khmer Rouge regime. I got picked up at my hotel and went to the Cheong Ek Genocidal center, one of the 383 killing fields where there were mass graves and a memorial for the atrocities committed. Thereafter, it proceeds to the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, a former high school transformed into a prison where they tortured victims. The Museum features photos, personal accounts and instruments of torture that walk you through those dark times. Mr Cheath, our tourguide concisely expressed his extensive knowledge of the events and pepper the narrations with his own opinion as a Cambodian. The tour effectively engaged my group, highlighting the harrowing events of the past. It was well organized and highly educational. I highly recommend you doing this when you've got half a day in the city.

Best way to see killing fields and prison sites
Best way to see these 2 sites. You get picked up from your hotel then taken to both sites in a mini bus. No time wasting, commentary and explanations both on the way and on site so you get a good understanding of the very sad history of Cambodia's not too distant past. Much better than organising yourself and our guide baboon explained the history so well, even telling how the past events affected his parent's and his growing up. Money very well spent thumbs up to our guide baboon.

        Not to be missed
Very descriptive retelling of the awful events of just 40-45 years ago. Baboon was very good and provided us with just enough detail, without it becoming a lecture.

A tour you cannot miss if you’re visiting Phnom Penh!
My husband and I would strongly recommend this tour! With hotel pick up and drop off, it made the afternoon go by smoothly and allowed us to focus on what was important - paying respect to the lives lost and honouring their memory. Although it was difficult to bear witness to, it is such an important part of Cambodia’s history. We were very grateful for our tour guide Visal as he was very knowledgeable and taught us so much about Pol Pot’s cruel regime 🙏 This is a tour you cannot miss if you’re visiting Phnom Penh!

An essential part of your trip to Phnom Penh. Visal was articulate in detailing Cambodia's troubled history. It is at times an harrowing but absolutely necessary experience for anyone interested not only in Cambodia's history but also in the role assumed by regional actors during the '70's.

We had Visal as our amazing tour guide. I would really recommend this tour. You learn the history of Cambodia and what happened at the killing fields. There are very few explanations in the S21 prison therefore we were really grateful we had Visal who could explain the stories behind the pictures and buildings. A very harrowing but important experience in order to learn about Cambodia and its history. We would not have been able to appreciate and understand what happened in the killing fields and S21 Prison without Visal. A must do if staying in Phnom Penh.

The tour is a must do when you are in the Phnom Penh. It is a very confronting and emotionally draining tour but it’s important to hear and learn about the brutal past of Cambodia in their eyes.
Our tour guide Baboon had us in tears when relaying his own family experiences especially. His is very articulate, knowledgeable and very friendly and answered all our questions honestly.
We met 4 of the 12 survivors which made the whole experience real. At the Genidide museum’s stupta where there were thousands of skills on display we paid our respect by purchasing and laying lit incense and a lotus flower.
Mr Tee our van driver was always by my side to help me step into and out of the vehicle when I informed him of my recent hip weakness /replacement.
We were regularly offered ice cold bottles of water.

Absolutely superb tour. Baboon was so informative, his passion and willingness to discuss in detail these events and how they affected him and his family is awe inspiring. I have to say possibly the best tour guide I've ever experienced. He never left our side, and really took the time to answer every question. If you are going to do a tour, this is the one to go on.

Anyone visiting Cambodia should go to the Museum and Killing Fields to understand the tragic history of the country. This tour is so worthwhile-it was organised brilliantly and our tour guide Visal Sem was knowledgable, sensitive, and a great communicator. We were able to meet two survivors from the prison, which was an experience I will never forget. Thank you Visal.

We found this tour very interesting even though there were many heartbreaking facts to learn. Our tour guide Baboon, was very knowledgeable and passionate. The tour was very well organised and for us it was the right length of time. I would definitely recommend going with Baboon, because he also told us personal family stories from this time, a richer experience I'm sure than the audio tour.

This is a great tour to learn about Cambodia's darker part of history. Mr. Baboon made the tour interesting and it was not hard to follow his stories about Cambodia and the Khmer Rouge.

The killing Fields and the S21 are a must see for everyone who visits Phnom Penh and we can highly recommend this tour operator.

At the end we were dropped at a local restaurant which also had been well chosen.

Additionally we would like to mention that we initially booked the wrong date. It was very easy getting in touch with the operator via WhatsApp, and they changed the date quickly and without any surcharge. Thanks again for the great customer service, the tour and everything around it. We really liked every minute of it!

Our guide was clearly a well educated man of integrity and love for Cambodia. The level of knowledge and personal courage displayed , given his fore bearers suffering was admirable. Extreme
respect for those before his time and gratefulness for our tourist support was only part of a most informative ( though brutally sad) talk and awareness of such toxic mass murdering of innocent millions.
Will always leave an indelible imprint on my mind.
I wish such human evil to be remembered but never repeated
in a world of endless aggression toward human innocents.
      My utmost respect and admiration
to our tour guide , Baboon

This was a well guided tour with loads of information. Sum Cheat was our guide and he did a great job of providing background information and historical facts. You can tell he was emotional involved as his own family members were affected by the regime. I came out of this having a profound understanding of Cambodia’s history and greatly appreciate that such tours exist so we never forget.
