About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 108ezC0 contributionsSeeing a lot of the "displays" may probably make you feel a bit queasy.Gaining insight into the battle and its lasting effects on a large number of individuals made the tour worthwhile. Reading about the use of chemical warfare and torture techniques was really upsetting.Written 7 December 2024
- Me_n_my_rucksack0 contributionsShould a museum represent an ubiased factual account or represent the view of just one side ?Firstly the museum has some wonderful exhibits and is something of a must see. But... If you took the story told by this museum as a factual cccount you would be mistaken. Its erronious by omission. The term Vietnamese only means those who followed the Communist North, absolutley no mention is made of the huge number of Vietnamese from the South (many who moved South on partition in the first place) who fought against them and whos ideology was opposed to them. This is portrayed soley as an American agression resisted by all Vietnamese, which it was not. There were attrocities, not least among them the number of bodies unearthed around Hue post the Tet uprising, upwards of 2,800 following a massacre of unarmed civilians by the Communists. This is an example of attrocity erased from history in this museum at the expense of other attrocities. The museum is fascinating as an example of how history can be used for political purposes. As stated there are some absolutley fascinating exhibits and items, and there is a powerful story to tell..... and in many respect this collection is part of that story. Not an unbiased objective part but a part of the story nonetheless.Written 7 December 2024
- Y8641WBbertm0 contributionsA sobering reality checkWe spent two hours here - couldn't handle more. The war photos and exhibits are intense and emotionally draining. Some displays feel one-sided, but the stories are powerful. The aircraft collection outside was interesting. Not for sensitive viewers. Go early to avoid school groups. Definitely puts things in perspective.Written 5 December 2024
- 256pavlat0 contributionsA visit to the War Remnants MuseumThe War Remnants Museum offers a mix of documentaries, memorials, and artwork. We found it interesting but a bit heavy. The exhibits are impactful, yet the atmosphere felt a bit overwhelming at times. It’s worth a visit for a glimpse into history, but don’t expect a light experience.Written 4 December 2024
- Wander8010680 contributionsGreat museum. Very emotionalI thought the museum was amazing. Very educational and informative. At times, people in my group got very emotional. The stories about the My Lai massacre and the footage of the after effects of a Napalm attack were horrendous. I personally didn’t find it heavy handed in a propaganda way at all. There are a lot of contributions from USA but rightly it is mainly about the experience of the Vietnamese peopleWritten 4 December 2024
- TheJoinersUK0 contributionsA must see n HCMAlways enjoy the history of Vietnam and this visit was one off the bucket list. The place is haunting, I thought I knew a lot about the war but this was a real eye opener. Every room has a different horror story and it gets worse and worse. Maybe children from all over the world should be made visit this place to see how pointless any war is. Such a shame its happening in Palestine today and we sit back and do nothingWritten 2 December 2024
- Tour272404886480 contributionsEmotional and shockingChoosing a 5 star is a little misleading for a lace that shares the story that it does. It was a shocking and educational tour to be a part of. It is worth the emotional visit to learn the atrocities that were committed and to ideally be a part of a world that will not let this happen againWritten 30 November 2024
- cat_on_a_chair0 contributionsInteresting but propaganda is a bit heavyIts interesting to have a walk through and see the war from the Vietnamese side. The only problem is of course the propaganda and their white washing of their own sides behaviour during the war. Some interesting pieces of military equipment outside the building. Their is also no acknowledgment that Vietnam has since fought wars with China and Cambodia.Written 29 November 2024
- scottwM4346RS0 contributionsGreat museum, just ridiculously hot.The War Remnants Museum in Vietnam offers a deeply moving and educational experience with its comprehensive exhibits on the Vietnam War and its aftermath. The content is well-curated and thought-provoking, providing valuable insight into a significant period of history. However, the lack of air conditioning is a major drawback, especially considering the tropical climate. Visitors often find it unbearable to stay in the indoor sections for more than 5-10 minutes, which detracts from the overall experience. For a museum of such national and historical significance, improving the facilities should be a priority for the Vietnam Government.Written 27 November 2024
- Frank1964970 contributionsEye openerThe museum was a great and emotional experience. I've never read or seen pictures to that extent of the horrible things that happened in that war. I'm so glad I went there, it is well worth the trip.Written 27 November 2024
- olivia_ruffle0 contributionsWorth a visit!Amazing museum, incredibly moving - ended up getting quite teary at several points. My friend and I knew little about the Vietnam war and it was insightful and good to learn more !Written 26 November 2024
- bernarrh20200 contributionseye-opening and emotionalThe photographs and artifacts brought the past to life, sparking deep conversations between us. It’s a must-visit for anyone wanting to understand Vietnam’s resilience and spirit.Written 26 November 2024
- 924wendyss0 contributionsAn unnecessary and rather gruesome displayWe visited the museum as part of our tour and did not enjoy it. The war ended 50 years ago and as in all wars some terrible things happened. However to have a whole section dedictaed to the awful effects of agent orange seems excessive. There was also a lot ot propaganda inthe information given in all sections of the museum.. I did find the photos taken by the was correspondents interesting and quite enjoyed seeing the planes and other equipment outside, but did not feel that this museum should be included in a tour itinery and should always be optionalWritten 26 November 2024
- 173hanyg0 contributionsUnderstanding war! This is a deep museum that can leave you upset. There a re alot of pictures and information that I think it wouldn't be appropriate for children. There was no ac, and it was too hot that we couldn't even breath at some of the halls.Written 25 November 2024
- Viet-Rican0 contributionsHave an open mind and be prepared to challenge everything you know and believe…This is not appropriate for young kids even though you will see troves of kids on field trips. Be prepared to challenge everything you have learned in history class. War sucks and this is a vivid account of why and who suffers the most in war.Written 24 November 2024

We loved this tour! The tunnels were amazing and we learnt so much! We loved the trip to the Mekong Delta, great little boat ride and tour through the local village. Our guide Nia was fantastic and very knowledgeable. He made the experience lots of fun. We had a lovely lunch with our fabulous group. It’s a long day, quite a bit of driving... but the bus is air conditioned and comfortable and the company was great!

The visit to the Cu Chi tunnels was an unique experience, insightful, real. The Mekong delta was lovely so much to see, so much to experience, see, taste. I hope though that the locals - the farmers, the men who row the the boats, who drive the carriages - also benefit from the huge tourism trade.

Other than a few outdoor exhibits in the sun, this museum is room after room of non air conditioned displays of photos. Who can be pleased watching photos in 35c degree heat full of sweating people around you. This was a most miserable experience and whatever message the Vietnamese authorities wanted me to learn was totally wasted. This whole museum need to be modernized with technologies and more interesting displays.

Informative and well laid out. Worth knowing the history before going to cu chi tunnel. 3 floor plus the outside setup was good to get an idea of what the country dealt with

This is a lovely trip, granted a bit long, but worth every minuet stuck in traffic.
Did not take too long to get to the tunnels, a short stop and a art studio was lovely.
The tunnels, it was an odd feeling, being as I went to the war museum before, then the tunnels it out things into perspective, and actually I would recommend doing this way round, museum - tunnels - Delta.
If you are in anyway afraid of small spaces DO NOT do the tunnels, they are very small, and if you have a bad back, also think about it.
It was a weird eire feeling, what it must have been like for the Vietnamese people.
The Delta was amazing, if your shy about food, then be aware they bring an entire fish to the table! Or, there was on my trip.
a quiet paddle up the delta, with no noise aside that of the paddle splashing....it was very tranquil.
Saw how coconut Sweets were made (very yummy) drank honey tea (very yummy) and enjoyed the local style of music.
The whole trip was pleasant from start to finish, even the 2 hour drive back docent seem too bad.....If a little bumpy!
I highly recommend this trip.

Two excellent trips, highly recommended. I’m a bit of a cultural desert but was fascinated by both trips. Good to hear the Vietnam point of view rather than the USA/Western view on the war. A must visit when in Vietnam!
