Cai Be Floating Market Day Trip from Ho Chi Minh City
From US$ 56.00
Overview
Experiencing the Mekong Delta is a big ask on your own: you need to know your way around to discover the best bits in a day. Tick through the delta's many faces on this tour: taking in Cai Be floating market, workshops, bike and rowboat rides; plus lunch and a cooking demo at a local home. Plus, with a guide, you'll get the background you want on everything you see.
What to Expect
Start with pickup from your District 1 Ho Chi Minh hotel or another central location and make the roughly 2.5-hour journey to the Mekong port of Cai Be.

Browse a flea market and enjoy a motorboat cruise on the Mekong, passing stilted houses, rice paddies, and farms. Then, pull alongside a floating market houseboat to sample fruits before visiting cottage industries such as a coconut candy workshop. Sample coconut, taste snake wine, and see rice popcorn and rice paper being made.

Next, stop at an island to tour a fruit garden and enjoy local music before riding a hand-rowed sampan along tranquil canals. Visit a local house for a home cooking demo, and prepare a Vietnamese dish for yourself before enjoying lunch. Then, opt to either relax or take a bike ride around the local village.

Your tour then finishes at the Ho Chi Minh departure point.

The bicycle trip is up one side of a stream, across a rustic foot bridge and back down the other side to the starting point at the restaurant. You could stay at the restaurant, or maybe walk part way along the stream path... More
