It takes a local to navigate the Old Quarter’s warren of back streets and identify the best street food. On this walking tour, your foodie guide will introduce you to at least ten separate Vietnamese dishes and drinks—from egg coffee and “banh mi” sandwiches through to fresh beer and noodle soup—as they explain Hanoi’s food culture and ingredients. They’ll even collect you from your Old Quarter hotel.

What to Expect
- Feel the beat of the oldest and most charming streets in the 36 streets of Hanoi’s Old Quarter, know about their historic trades through local’s eyes.
- Bring you “off the beaten track”, showing you where the locals go.
- Try best Vietnamese dishes which are cooked by locals with good cooking skills and learn how to eat each dish in professional way.
- Hear the stories surrounding Vietnamese cuisine as well as tidbits of history via introducing of our knowledgeable tour guide.
- Meet your tour guide at your hotel or meeting point. Before you start, have a quick Vietnamese greeting lesson. Your tour guide will discuss any food allergies, vegetarian requirements and let you know how to walk in Vietnamese streets with crazy traffic before starting the tour. Your expert tour guide will introduce you to Vietnamese cuisine, Vietnamese history and culture throughout the tour.
- You will be taken to eat 10+ Vietnamese dishes at the best places located in special corners, hidden alleys or small restaurants in Hanoi Old Quarter that might be missed if you go by yourself. Try a variety of street foods and drinks such as Nộm bò khô, papaya with dried beef salad; Bún chả, grilled pork with rice noodles; pho, rice noodle soup; Nem phở cuốn, fried spring rolls and fresh spring rolls; Bánh cuốn, steamed rice pancake rolls; Bánh mì, Vietnamese sandwich; Bánh gối, fried pillow shaped cake; Bánh rán, Vietnamese donut; Trà đá, ice tea; Bia Hơi, fresh beer; Kem xôi, steamed sticky rice with ice cream; Chè, Vietnamese sweet soup; Cà phê trứng, egg coffee, etc. This tour will only finish when you feel full and happy.
- The tour will end at Hoan Kiem Lake or anywhere convenient for you to return to your hotel/ hostel. Your tour guide will show you how to get back to your hotel/ hostel.

Great food

Fantastic tour

This is a fantastic tour. I have just finished it and am soooo full i may pop. Tom was a great guide...friendly, knowledgeable, helpful about everything we asked and a great personality. Great value for money and orientation of the city on our first day.
