About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Eva R0 contributionsGreat way to experience Bangkok and get out of the city congestionWe had such a wonderful time in seeing Bangkok through a teak boat experience. Our guide was awesome, humorous, educational and engaging. I’m not entirely sure that we were on the correct trip, as we did not stop and get off at two temples but it was quite pleasant regardless. We showed our (very recent) booking to the crew and it was a 2:30pm departure so they added us onto the printed list. They provided life jackets and water. The teak boat was covered on top and the breeze felt great on a hot day. Easy location, at River City Bangkok which had some shops, restaurants and art to explore before we got on the boat.Written 20 January 2025
- elenidk150 contributionsStunning historic sights, typical Thai lunch and a lovely guide.Wonderful historic temples. The first 2 sights were the best. The last was worth it for people dressed in traditional Thai dress. The reclining Buddha wasn't necessary. I enjoyed the buffet lunch. The guide and driver were very nice. I recommend.Written 14 January 2025
- Cynthia S0 contributionsGreat Ayutthaya tourKelly was a wonderful guide, and the van was comfortable. We spent just the right amount of tome at each temple site, and Kelly explained the sites and general thai culture well.Written 9 January 2025
- Claire M0 contributionsVery interesting and good value for money - but a confusing drop-off.We checked in and joined the tour at their Riverside offices and found the process very efficient. Our guide Henry was informative and did a good job of keeping our group of 15 organised. We made 4 stops of what seemed to be the majority of the most interesting temples/ sites and the site fees were included in the price. We also had an enjoyable buffet lunch at the company’s place in the town - again, included in the price. The only issue came at the end of the trip. Henry had talked about drop-offs at the MBK centre and the Siam shopping centre, which meant nothing to us, as we’d only arrived in Bangkok the previous night. It turned out that the coach didn’t return to the Riverside offices and we were made to feel nuisances when we then needed directions to walk back to our hotel from the substituted drop off point. Apart from this, it was a very enjoyable excursion.Written 9 January 2025

- Paul N0 contributionsGreat tour with a great guideMy two teens and I had a great experience. Paul was an amazing guide who helped us learn more history and culture than we expected. The Temples were interesting and we like how Paul gave us info at first and then let us wander on our own for a while. The food at lunch was very good with both meat and vegetable options and the bus was very comfortable. It was everything you could want in a group tour.Written 3 January 2025
- Malcolm S0 contributionsVisit Ayuthaya hassle freeFriendly tour guide and very clean coach. Lunch was also provided and the entire journey was really smooth sailing. We completed the tour in approx. 7 and half hours. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a hassle free tour of AyuthayaWritten 2 January 2025

- An M0 contributionsVery Bad experienceWe did Book weeks in advance with Big Country Experience a private Full day Tour in Bangkok for 3 persons Our creditcard was debited on December 28th. Late afternoon on December 30th. we received via Mail and WhatsApp a cancelation from the tour operator and GetYourGuide. The tour was booked for the following day. Reason for cancelation: no driver and guide available. As they had already debited our creditcard. and we are leaving Bangkok on January 2nd, we asked for an alternative : no reply from te operator nor from GetYourGuide!!! We reached out again to tell the operator that we were traveling with our 82year old mom and that it was very unlikely for her to return to Bangkok. We informed the operator that we had especially booked the short trip to Bangkok before traveling to Vietnam to show mom the city, Royal Palace and other landmarks. Still no reply or alternative provided. We finally managed to book in the hotel the exact same tour with TUI. On December 31st GetYourGuide sent us a mail explaining that the operator had to cancel the booking as many locations were closed to the public that day. Just one big lie as we did visit these locations with a different operator. Please do not book with this company if you want to be sure that you receive the service you have paid for in advanceWritten 31 December 2024

- juliengA476JT0 contributionsWell organised and fun tour to see stunning ruined templesWell organised trip to see some of the spectacular temples of Ayutthaya. The your guide, Paul, was great, providing a steady stream of information and humour. Going to see Ayutthaya was one of my must-sees of coming to Thailand but it seemed a bit messy to do it as a day trip with public transport; the tour really matter things more relaxed. We also didn't expect much from lunch but we were pleasantly surprised from the flavoursome buffet.Written 24 December 2024
- Tony_Dunlop010 contributionsHistoric Ayutthaya tourGreat trip to historic Ayutthaya. Well organised and very good value. AJ was an extremely knowledgeable and helpful guide. His insights into Thai culture added another dimension to the tour. Highly recommended.Written 23 December 2024

Tawee was our rep for Big Country . He has excellent knowledge & good English. Kind & helpful, he provided an excellent value trip. Nice free banana and water too. You can buy lunch in the market - recommend the coconut ice cream and coconut pancakes . The boat trip in the Floating Market is extra & costs 150 bhat per person- it is a must!
Back at hotel in Bangkok by 1.45 pm so still time for more sightseeing!
Highly recommend this tour - it is an early start but with hotel pick up allows you to tick another experience off your to do list!

We visited this train market in the morning and were lucky enough to have a seat and a coffee to watch by the side of the tracks. The siren sounds and all the people scurry to get their goods out of the way of the train before it passes through. Tourists come to see this unique market that sits right on the train tracks. The market was started before they built the train tracks so the railroad built the tracks right in the middle of the market.
After the train passes, wander through the market. There are so many fascinating items for sale, especially in terms of foods they eat.

Sara shared with us all the important sites we passed by. She also answered all our questions. Very good english. For people thst travel for the first time in Thailand if you choose this trip, make a list of what you would like to buy and ask your tour guide for a resonable price to pay. There are no prices exposed and you have to negociate for everything. I wanted to buy 10 magnets (fridge magnets) and sellers first price was 4000 bth. I negociated to 1000 bth/ 30 Euro (I still wander if I made the best decision buying from the floating maket). Ovrerall was a great experience.

This is a definitely something you want to see and experience. Our tour guide "Abby" was friendly and explained the sights really well. We had a tour in the train and later got to see the market stall owners quickly pack their goods away before the train returns. I did not enjoy the seafood and fresh meat markets as i am skirmish for strong fish smells and the sight or blood. This is not something i recommend for those with a sensitive smell and gut. The Floating market however was much more pleasant and i managed to get lots of gifts at great prices. I would certainly visit this market again!

The trip started at 6.30 am.
Sara and the driver picked us up from the tour agency.
Sara is brilliant, knowledgeable, caring and with great sense of humor.
She took us by bus to first train station (and pee pee island), then by the train to the first marker, where we were able to see the train departing and all the related commotion. Then Floating market which started with "James Bond" boat trip to the market itself, then half an hour in paddle boat.
Great experience, unforgettable moments.
With Sara everything went as planned.
Thank you Sara

Best tour we’ve done in Thailand! Our tour guide was by far the best we’ve had so far…Knowledgeable and funny. Started off on the train to the station. When you arrive in, it’s a funny situation where the tourists on the train are filming or high fiving the tourists on the platform! Once the train stops there is a quick tour of market before getting into position to be the tourist of the platform. After that, we transfer to the floating market. Again, the guide gave advice of how to barter should you wish to purchase anything.
Both tours are very economical as the floating markets are known to be a trap in tourist extortion. The 6am start is painful but is the best way to avoid the excessive crowds

The tour was good but we felt too rushed, specially at the train station market. We only spent 30 minutes there after having spent 2 hours in the van to get there. At the floating market we spent approx. 1 hour and 20 minutes. Just getting on one of the boats in the floating market took us close to 30 minutes. This didn’t give us much time to browse around once we got off the boat.
What i liked the most was coming into the station in the train and then watching it leave.
The guide gave us no information on the history of the train or the floating market. It was more of a means of transportation to get there.
I feel we spent way more time in the van then at the sites. 2 hours each way!

We did this tour yesterday and it was absolutely fantastic. Our guide was Tee. The van turned up spot on time and we picked up 4 other couples on the way. At one point we were actually running early. The bus was full but a maximum of 12 people which is nice as it's only a small group.
It's an early start but don't be put off, it's so worth it. We drove for about an hour (after the last pickup) out of Bangkok and arrived at the train station (I use the word station loosely). There's a toilet stop and then we waited for the train which arrives at a loose 8am. All aboard and then a half hour train trip to the market. It's amazing watching it all unfold from aboard the train. Once stopped Tee took our picture at the front of the train. You then have about 20 mins to look round the market before the train leaves again at 9am. This time you watch it leave and don't go aboard. It's just incredible. A health and safety nightmare but like nothing I've ever seen before. A real cultural experience. Tee then provided us with free cold water and off to the floating market we went.
A short trip in the van and then a James Bond boat (long tail boat) gets you to the floating market. Again another spectacle. We sat and just watched it all unfold around us. Incredible. There's an optional boat trip on the floating market which we did as we wanted the full experience. It was 300 BAHT for 2 of us. Tee kept hold of our tickets and advised us to come at 11am when the boats would be quieter. After that we headed off back to Bangkok. Traffic was on our side so we got back at about 1.15pm. You could argue there was a little too much time at the floating market but it was nice to just sit down and enjoy it.
I'd highly recommend this trip and this company.
*Extremely punctual
*Clean van
*Bonus free water
*Great tour guide
Tee was informative, clear, helpful and funny. Thank you so much for a fantastic trip.

The night before they advised us what time pick up will be exactly and they were there waiting for us in the morning at that time. The tour guide Pat was very professional and excellent English we understood everything and she was very detailed as what to expect. First you drive to the train station take the train into the market and after leave with the van to the floating market, where you take a boat into the market. In the market you can take another boat for few extra bath to go around the river or just walk around on land and see mostly the same things. up to you if you prefer the beat or walking around. After the floating market its time to head back. Very well organized activity and i would recommend to anyone thinking about doing it.

Hi Carter, probably not. Traffic is quite heavy sometimes and the return trip from the last stop is 2.5 hrs as it is quite a distance away. We didn’t return to BK until after 2:30.
