Best tour we’ve done in Thailand! Our tour guide was by far the best we’ve had so far…Knowledgeable and funny. Started off on the train to the station. When you arrive in, it’s a funny situation where the tourists on the train are filming or high fiving the tourists on the platform! Once the train stops there is a quick tour of market before getting into position to be the tourist of the platform. After that, we transfer to the floating market. Again, the guide gave advice of how to barter should you wish to purchase anything.
Both tours are very economical as the floating markets are known to be a trap in tourist extortion. The 6am start is painful but is the best way to avoid the excessive crowds

This was a very well organized tour. Pat, our guide, was very informative of all the places, route, history, culture and specific guidance also for foreign tourists. Especially, her tips about cultural practices, sensitivities, foods and shopping guidance on the tour were excellent. Not just a tour guide, but she is an accomplished photographer as well!
Maeklong Railway Market is definitely a unique place and experience. The tour ensured that our timing was excellent, so that in a short span of time, we experienced both arriving in the train itself with view from inside, and also the view from outside as the trian left the station and passed through the market again. While, in between, we experienced the market, which still is an authentic and locally fully functional place.
Damnoen Saduak floating market, as rightly pointed out by many, has now become almost fully geared towards visiting tourists, mostly with food, merchandise and souveniers. There remain few locally relevant vegetable and merchandize sellers etc. That being the case, I would still highly recommend the place, as it still is again a very unique experience for visitors from other parts of the globe, esp if one has not visited any other floating markets before.

What a great experience! I highly rate this company. Pickup and drop off is super central at River City next to the Sheraton Royal Orchid. The tour lasted 6 hours door to door in a high quality minibus with just 12 passengers, good AC and a charming and funny local (English speaking) guide. The railway market is totally crazy and an absolute must see when in Bangkok. On this tour you actually enter the market on the train and then watch it leave from the side of the track which is when all the craziness begins. The floating market is also a lot of fun and includes a 30 minute boat ride which is ample time to soak up the sights and sounds. You have many options for tours in Bangkok but I would definitely recommend Big Country, at just 1k TB per person (including the train & boat ride) this is really great value. We booked with a lovely lady called Oh who coordinated everything seamlessly. 5 BIG stars.

This tour was good, but it could have been better. Positives - The rail market was a highlight. It was very busy, but well worth it. Lots of fresh foods (unusual for us Aussies) and many other things to buy. Floating markets also worth the trip. The boat tour was just a paddle boat not a motorized one (hubby would have liked the motor one).
Not so positive -Our tour guide was nice, but advised us not to buy anything at the floating markets. If tourists do not buy at these places they will no longer be there, yes the prices are slightly higher, but the bargaining with the vendors is half the fun. I felt that the tour was rushed and that the guides wanted to get back to Bangkok (and therefore home on a Friday afternoon). So don't go on a Friday, we booked the 8am, which turned out to be 8.40 pick up at hotel, which related to a 9am start from Bangkok. There is a 6am which I think would have been much better.
Overall the tour is totally worth it. The busses need upgrading - towards the back was very hot and uncomfortable and the guys at the front were shutting the air co vents as they were cold. Sit at the front, bargain with the vendors and enjoy.

One of the main reasons for booking this tour was to spend time exploring the railway market. However we spent 15 min in the market, yup that’s right I flew across the world for 15 minutes. Ok that’s a little over the top, but you get point. We did however spend 45 minutes at roadside gas station / truck stop food court so maybe the tour should have been labeled truck stop and brief tour of train market.

Part of the reason for truck stop was the guide, who was very nice and knowledgeable, has us ride the train into the market which was cool and an appreciated that experience, however logistically this should have planned better. We could have arrived at the market first, give us the hour to explore and maybe take the train out of the market for a stop to two. The truck stop and “lunch break” at the floating market accounted for the majority of the trip. The floating market was about 40 min or so.

Now let’s talk about the floating market, this one is totally commercialized for tourism. Instead of walking between vendors on the street with exactly the fare for sale, now you go in a boat and see the same stuff. All that being said It is nice to be out on the water.

Who is this tour for, well since I like cultural experiences, this is defiantly not for me. If your looking for off the beaten track, nope. If your looking for new products, hand made crafts etc …. Nope. If a day trip with family is on the agenda sure. If your looking just to “check it out” on a surface level then yup good trip for you. If your a photographer looking for market shots or a traveler who wants to get a good flavor of the area, forget about it, hire a driver and come yourself.

If you happen to have any significant mobility issues I would also steer you away from this tour. Getting on and off the train will be an issue. Also the train market is narrow around the tracks but it does extend further inwards from the tracks. Just so y’a know there are a ton on tourists there and they tend congregate along the train track.

For many this will be a nice escape day from Bangkok and an ok but not an overly memorable experience. I honestly know it take a lot to plan out a day tour, but I really cannot recommend this one.

I had to cancel the tour right when the guide picked me up because the tour says its half day BUT they only tell you you would come back to the city by 4 pm more or less depending on traffic, which is aweful (the tour is OUTSIDE Bangkok city).
I had some other activities planned thinking that by 1 pm (a real half day tour), we would have finished. The description of the tour is poorly done, fake publicity, so beware of this prior booking and making other arrangements for your ‘rest of half day’.
I did go to the floating market by myself that same day afternoon and its a trap for tourists. Many things closed along the river, it looks a little bit dead and sad. Plus, a little expensive!

I am writing to you to complain about the terrible tour that I was given.
From the moment that we got on the van, I complained, but no one did anything to remedy the situation.
I booked a Spanish speaking tour (join) and when we were on the bus, it was an English speaking tour, and since there were no more Spanish speaking tourists, they joined us with an english speaking guide, and a Spanish speaking babysitter/guide. Since the english speaking tour was the majority, their guide never stopped speaking, so our "guide" could not get a word in. Basically she monopolized the whole tour, answering all the questions that the English speaking tourists asked, not giving a break for us to even put a word in.
We were the 2 attachments to an already formed english tour.
I understand that it is a joined tour, but for Spanish speakers. Not an english tour and 2 seats on the van for us.
If there were no more Spanish speaking tourists, then they should have cancelled the tour, or driven us by ourselves. Not put us in a formed tour with a guide that never stopped talking in a language that we didn't understand and booked.
I feel defrauded, and taken advantage of. This is NOT what I booked and paid for.
Plus, we didn't get neither the water nor the cold towel as described in the tour inclusions.

Neither we got to use the services of the guide that we booked and paid extra for. Since the other guide never stopped talking, our "guide" could not explain anything to us.

Amazing value for money!!

We got a stop in as a bonus. The tour guide, Sara, spoke amazing English and was amazing in her knowledge. She made us feel right at home, picking us up exactly at 8am from the hotel, including a stop along the way.

We got to experience the train ride as well as the market experience of the train literally passing us while we drank coconut water.

The floating market was beautiful, with us literally bargaining for wooden carved bowls.

All in all, we got back to the hotel around 3:30 and our experience all day was incredible. Huge thanks to our amazing tour guide for her energy even when we were sleepy!!

This was awesome. My husband and I (Americans living in Japan for the last 3 years) did this tour JUN2022.

The bus ride was probably an hour and a half each way; we’d never have ventured that far without a tour. Then you see the railway market from ON the train. When the train stops at the market, you disembark and then get to take all of your pictures when the train leaves so you get the best of both worlds. Our tour guide was attentive to everything including telling us where to sit on the train so that we would get the best pictures. When you disembark from the train, he takes your picture at the back of the train and then takes your picture with the train coming straight toward you as it leaves. He even shows you the best spots to stand so that you get good pictures as the train departs.

Then you head over to the floating market. He gives you all of the tips about the best foods and buying from the vendors. You can have lunch here for very cheap and the food was great. My husband and I got fried rice, pad Thai, mango with sticky rice and a Thai tea. After the boat ride through the market and lunch, you still have more time for shopping at the floating market if you’d like. Culturally, the Thai are a little pushy with sales so be sure to master the, “no thank you,” and be cautious about expressing interest in products that you would normally just comment on but do not intend to buy. If you have the flexibility, the floating market tour is best on Sundays because the Thai people are not at work and so it is more bustling. If you are specifically trying to avoid the crowds, we went on a Thursday and it was only pleasantly active.

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and spent a good portion of the bus ride giving us pearls of wisdom. For example, in Thailand educational systems, English is compulsory (so it is highly likely the vendor understands your English). He was very approachable and answered all of our questions. He herded cats well, learned our names, and I felt very taken care of the entire time. This was a really awesome experience from Bangkok where I had to do virtually no planning because everything was taken care of for us. Oh, and our pictures look way better than the sample one for this tour! He takes you to places that are less crowded so you get better pictures.

Highly recommend.

This tour bring us to visit a salt lake in addition to the railway market and floating market. So glad that we join this tour, our tour guide is very professional, she gives us very good tips to stand at a good position when waiting to board the train, and also take care of our safety. A great experience and eye opener!
