Visit the Thai–Burma Death Railway and Kwai River bridge with your own private guide on this full-day tour from Bangkok. Learn about this important World War II site, and see the river bridge, JEATH War Museum, and Kanchanaburi War Cemetery. Take a longtail boat ride on the Kwai River and have the flexibility to spend more time at places of interest on this private tour.
  • See the River Kwai bridge and the Death Railway in Kanchanaburi
  • Learn about the prisoners that perished while working on the railway
  • Visit the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery, where WWII dead were buried
  • Pass rice paddies and sugar cane fields on the ride through the countryside
What to Expect
After hotel pickup in central Bangkok, travel by a private air-conditioned vehicle to Kanchanaburi—a distance of about 80 miles (130 kilometers).

Upon arrival, take in several important sites in the region. Visit the Death Railway and the Bridge Over the River Kwai, memorials to the thousands of prisoners of war who were forced and died to build the railway through the dense jungle during WWII.

You’ll also visit the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery and JEATH War Museum, a small open-air museum with photos, paintings, and artifacts from WWII prisoners.

Have lunch and take a longtail speedboat ride on the River Kwai, before taking a ride on the local train in a return trip to Bangkok at the end of the day.

During the Vietnam War, I had fought to defend South Vietnam along with the US Army from 1965-1967 as a Korean Army. I had an opportunity to enjoy the R & R holiday during which I visit the Bridge over River Kwai in May 1967.

River Kwai bridge is one of important historical landmarks and memorials, the history of the bridge is known as it was part of the railway lines in World War II and it's really worth visiting. Thank you very much for your valuable review.

Very interesting trip. Excellent driver but Guide lacked knowledge and told us very little. Very nice lady but she needs some training. Once she’s had that, I’m sure she will be very good!

A long drive in an uncomfortable van led to a brief tour a cheap lunch and a longer ride back. Got a tour of a grave yard, a 20 minute elephant ride which was fun and a 15 minute raft ride which was OK, but...More

It was very moving being at the River Kwae Bridge, and traveling on the railroad. It was a bit creepy, especially going past a huge resort that was once a Japanese POW camp. The food was excellent. Our tour guide and driver were attentive to...More

I don’t think so. Our schedule was busy with the visit to a war graves cemetery, trip on the train over the bridge. There was a market, not sure if it’s the one you referred to but it was a very quick walk through.
