About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- wjsang0 contributionsGorgeous Views!Excellent trekking experience with Escape Himalaya to Kala Patthar! Everything went seamlessly, and my guide ensured we were safe and comfortable at all times, even in the high altitude. Will definitely choose EH again when I am back in Nepal for more hiking! The country is so beautiful and just has so much to offer!Written 14 December 2024
- Chungwingki0 contributionsThank you for Raj's and Dipak's help!I will definitely recommend Raj’s service to everyone who is considering to go Nepal trekking! Perhaps I want to tell a bit of our plan first. Me and my friend two people we decided to go Nepal and do EBC + Gokyo trekking in Late October/early November for 13 days. The route itself is with so amazing views, that I think I made a couple of friends jealous that they also want to go trekking in Nepal. It was our plan that we don’t hire any tour guide/porter as we think it’s doable for us to do this by ourselves and be more flexible along the way. From Day 1-Day 7, from Lukla -> arriving in EBC/Gorak Shep, we completed our journey as planned. The difficult thing was, because of high altitude sickness and I was not really physical fit to carry the heavy backpack so I was so slow (if my friend and I trek separately on same day he would be 3-4 hours faster than me to arrive the next lodge) and felt so tired. Everyone in the lodge/tea house is coughing a bit. It’s so easy to get sick! On Day7 resting in the Gorak Shep lodge we struggle to decide should we continue to go Gokyo the next day, which passing through Cho La Pass everyone there say it’s so steep and so challenging. And also because of the weather forecast said it would be snowing on the next two days. We almost go for not proceeding to Goyko and just return (just do the Classic EBC route). So luckily, we bumped into another Taiwanese travel small group, a girl is from Hong Kong, she suggested we could ask Raj (as their tour guide) for some suggestions. Raj is such a reliable person, his experience gave us comfort, that we decided to continue to Gokyo with hiring a porter for our remaining days. We were very lucky that one of their porter became available the next day since the Taiwanese small group was taking helicopter back to Lukla. Dipak, our porter, he took very good care of us. Having him with us, we no longer need to worry accommodation/food/looking at the maps at the time. And because we had tight schedules, he would suggest some alternative plans if We/I can’t reach to the destinations as planned. He’s also a very funny and popular guy that I think he almost knows everyone in the mountains. Definitely feels more secure having he accompanies us. Another thing that we really appreciated Raj’s help was – there is not way that we can buy flight ticket from Lukla -> Kathmandu online. Flight from Lukla -> Ramechhap is possible online, directly to Kathamndu, NO. I think for some reasons the airline companies are not putting the availabilities online for sales. Their would only sell to those having some business relationships with them I think. With that being said, we really enjoyed our trekking journey and thank you for Raj’s and Dipak’s help! Do approach Raj for any questions haha!Written 7 December 2024
- pinchunh20240 contributionsLifetime Nepal ABC tour experience with amazing guide RajRaj is a professional and passionate tour guide. I’ve joined the ABC tour with him and he made the tour memorable and safe with no doubt. Really appreciate he being considerable, detail oriented with attentive care (always!) as well as good photograph and dancing skills that had made this experience a lifetime memory. Those things does matter when it was -7 degree :) Thanks again Raj ! Hope to come back to Nepal and travel with you again !Written 5 December 2024
- Heong A0 contributionsUnforgettable First Time Trekking in NepalJust completed the EBC trek with Escape Himalaya! This was my first experience and my daughter’s second, and both of us had a wonderful holiday taking in the sights and wonders of the Everest region. Everything was seamlessly arranged and there was little we had to apply our minds to - from booking accommodations (all of which were comfortable and well-equipped), airport transfers, helicopter and flights to/from Lukla, meals, hot water and porter services - thanks to the excellent planning and organisation of the team, we were able to just lose ourselves in the hike and fully enjoy it without having to worry about anything. Our guides / porter Suman and Sandeep were also exceptional and took such good care of us. Impeccable service, we will definitely look for Escape Himalaya again when we are back in Nepal for another trek!Written 16 November 2024
- jinghanL710 contributionsIncredible Trekking Experience with Escape Himalaya! Our recent trek with Escape Himalaya exceeded all expectations. From start to finish, the team demonstrated remarkable professionalism, warmth, and local expertise. The booking process was smooth, and they were highly responsive, addressing all our questions in advance and helping us feel prepared. Once on the trail, our guide, Raj, was knowledgeable, friendly, and always attentive to our needs. He shared fascinating insights into the local culture and geography, making each stop along the way feel meaningful. The accommodations were comfortable, and the itinerary was well-paced to allow for both challenging hikes and ample time to rest and acclimatize. The whole team went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and safety, and we felt genuinely cared for at every step. I highly recommend Escape Himalaya to anyone looking for an unforgettable adventure in the Himalayas!Written 12 November 2024
- haohsiangy20240 contributions✨ Huge Thanks to Our Incredible Guide, Raj – He Made Our Everest Base Camp Journey Truly Unforgettable! ✨I want to start by saying a massive thank you to Raj, our guide on this Everest Base Camp (EBC) trek. He’s hands down the best guide I’ve ever had, and his dedication, care, and expertise turned this journey into an experience beyond anything we could have imagined. Before the trip, some friends shared their own experiences trekking to EBC, including the many challenges they faced. They had to put up with cold nights with no hot water, basic accommodations, and ended up spending hundreds of extra dollars on essentials like hot water . Plus, when they were ready to fly back, bad weather grounded their flights, forcing them to pay between $700 and $1,000 each for a helicopter – a pricey and stressful ordeal. But with Raj by our side, our experience couldn’t have been more different. From the start, he ensured we had everything we needed, including hot water every night, which was an unexpected and much-appreciated comfort. When we arrived at each new stop, Raj somehow arranged for high-quality rooms, often with private bathrooms if possible – a rare luxury on this trek. It was far beyond what we anticipated! And the return journey? While others were struggling to secure helicopter seats as prices soared from $800 to $1,000 due to the weather, Raj worked his connections and got us a morning helicopter at a very reasonable price per person. Thanks to his efforts, we returned to Kathmandu smoothly, without the high costs and chaos others faced. Raj’s thoughtfulness and dedication made this EBC trek a truly remarkable experience. We couldn’t be more grateful for his support every step of the way! Highlights of Raj’s Outstanding Service: 🌟 Hot Water Availability: Raj ensured we had hot water every night, providing much-needed comfort! 🌟 High-Quality Accommodation: Comfortable rooms, often with private bathrooms – far exceeding expectations! 🌟 Cost-Saving Arrangements: His careful planning saved us from many extra expenses. 🌟 Smooth Return: Despite weather issues, Raj found us an affordable, early morning helicopter, making the return stress-free. If you’re considering an EBC trek, I highly recommend Raj and his team. He’s simply the best! 💯Written 7 November 2024
- sean016640 contributionsMemorable 10-day EBC Trek with Escape Himalaya teamWe are a group of 8 friends recently completed the Everest Base Camp trek, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. The first 2 days was slightly challenging for me as the helicopter from Kathmandu to Lukla was delayed due to ground control so we started late and ended up trekking in the dark. The trek itself was not as "relaxing" as I expected, I got stomach upset and my partner's shoes were worn out on the way to Namche Bazaar. However our main guide, Raj, was constantly checking on us and making sure we are ok. As the altitude went up, though the trek became less steeper, more of my friends got sick from cold weather and tiredness built-up. I was in good condition and my stomachache went away but Raj always ensured that I eat the "right" food. His team also provided oximeter, sleeping bag, extra down jacket, free-flow hot water (which is a big thing when you are high up in a mountain), and took care of others. Throughout the journey, his genuine care for our well-being really stood out. He always ensuring that we were properly acclimatized and hydrated. He was professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly supportive. Raj's deep understanding of the mountains and local culture added so much to the experience. He was always willing to answer questions (one of my friends asked a lot lol) and share interesting facts about the area. All of us successfully reached Everest Base Camp and it was immensely rewarding. The last few days offering breathtaking views of the Himalayas, beautiful landscapes, and a sense of achievement. Raj customized our itinerary with helicopter transport back from Lobuche to Lukla because we didn't have enough annual leaves to walk our ways down. We encountered flight cancellation at Lukla airport due to poor weather, I saw Raj basically talking non-stop on the phone or sticking around airport offices trying to secure chopper seats for us. In the end, we had to stay another night in Lukla. Raj settled accommodation and the hotel was right next to the airport which made things a lot easier. Most importantly, we were able to get on a helicopter to Kathmandu next morning and luckily didn't miss our international flights back home. I couldn’t have asked for a better guide for this adventure. If you're planning to trek to Everest Base Camp, I highly recommend choosing Raj - he will make your trip more memorable and even when you face some setbacks, I'm sure he will do his best to solve the issues.Written 6 November 2024

- jalings0 contributionsTruly memorable experienceI completed the 10 days 9 nights PoonHill-ABC trek, and it was incredible. Raj was accommodating throughout the planning process, patiently answering my thousand questions and adapting to my flight changes. My guide, Bhim, and porter, Govinda, were the perfect team. Bhim's knowledge of the region and friendship with the locals were impressive. His patience and attentiveness made me feel completely at ease. Govinda is cheerful and supportive throughout the journey When the bus from Pokhara to Kathmandu was canceled due to bad weather, Raj and Bhim quickly took control of the situation. They extended my stay in Pokhara and arranged a flight back to Kathmandu. Bhim always updated me on the flight status and weather conditions. Their professionalism and problem-solving skills were truly exceptional. I highly recommend this team to anyone seeking a rewarding adventure. Thanks to Raj, Bhim, and Govinda, it was an unforgettable experience.Written 10 October 2024
- P1999GEviveks0 contributionsTrekking to Langtang ValleyAn amazing multi day trekking trip with strong guide friend Nabraj Thapa. As usual, he was calm all the way up and down even when i kept coming up with crazy ideas of hiking two peaks in row of two days. That was not even part of offered plan, i was suppose to hike one peak only. But Nabraj was amazing and helped me to climb both peaks. I will highly recommend this company for anyone who wish to trekhike in Nepal. They are simply amazing in organising everything from airport pickup to full trekking arrangement. All i had to do was to bring myself to Kathmandu, rest was a smooth sail.Written 12 July 2024
- 283melindas0 contributionsExcellent Manaslu Circuit TrekOur experience with Escape Himalaya was great. They were very professional from the beginning till the end. Suman from the office was very organised and quick in response. It was a pleasure to deal with him. Our Guide Bismah was very knowledgeable he knew everything about culture history and every day life, we were very impressed by this as both my husband and I were very interested. We met other guides along the trail but he definitely topped them all, great language skills. Our Porter Sankar was also very nice and professional, often gave us fruits after dinner which we really appreciated as we missed this along the rugged trails. They also made sure that we get the best accommodation and once we met friends along the trail they assured that we get to stay together we had a wonderful experience and we wholeheartedly recommend Escape Himalaya.Written 11 May 2024

It was our first time in Nepal and we (4 girlfriends) were a bit nervous in the beginning. But, the moment we met our guide Raj at the airport, all our fears went away. We could not be happier with the whole arrangement and experience, so seamless and warmth at the same time. Raj was with us for the whole trip from our flight to Pokhara, Pokhara sightseeing and the highlight of our trip, Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek. We had such a great time with Raj, he is simply amazing and the best guide ever! He is fun to be with, very funny, fluent in English, very patient and never rush us (some of us have different speed, he made sure that everyone well taken care of). He also made sure that we have the best available lodge during the trek, ate well and always so caring and attentive to our need. And last but not least, he is a good photographer too! He was always so eager to take our pictures, showed us where is the best spot and angle and how to pose 😊. We also have two porters (Bim and Ganesh) which are so nice and caring too. During our morning hike to Poon Hill for sunrise, we were struggling and a bit slow – they carried our backpack to ease our walk. By the end of the trip, we are like good friends/family and so sad to leave them.
And Nepal was just so beautiful. The view along the trek, sunrise in Poon Hill, everything was simply breathtaking and spectacular. We love Pokhara too (but not much love for Kathmandu, too dusty and busy). We are now planning for a longer trek in Nepal. And we do not need to do any research anymore, we just go to Raj, our trusted guide and friend!

Similarly, we are proud of Bhim and Ganesh for your journey smooth and assisting to you whenever it was needed.
It’s a shame that Kathmandu’s dust and smoke made your journey a bit dull but happy to know you loved all the other part of your journey in Nepal.
If time allows, please visit Nepal once again. We would be glad to serve you again in the future.
Until then, we hope you all the best wishes!

Last year I did the Everest Basecamp Trek in Nepal. With travel limited in these COVID times I wanted to give a proper review.
Our guide, Raj, was friendly, knowledgeable, and just an all around good guy. From early morning until night time he made sure we had everything we needed and kept us in the best of spirits. I truly enjoyed not only the amazing scenery of the trek, but hearing Raj’s stories which made it all so much more personal.
The trek was challenging and there were some bitterly cold nights, Your endurance will definitely be tested. And don’t expect wo have internet access unless you want to pay for WiFi. But, then again, didn’t you come to Nepal to get away from all of that? Bottom line is the scenery is absolutely awe-inspiring and makes it all worthwhile.
Thanks to Raj and Escape Himalaya Trek and Expedition!

For the greater masses, an endeavor such as this is something completely out of their comfort zone as it was for me. Researching (as you normally do) lets you know of the very real dangers of the trek just to get to the base of the highest point in the world. One of the most important things to me as a solo trekker during peak Winter was picking the right guide/company as my life would be in someone else’s hands if things went sour. After extensive research and a lot of questions (which were very kindly answered by the manager in great detail) I chose Escape Himalaya Trekking Agency I have just got to say that these guys are amazing - safety, professionalism, caring and being accommodating are values these guys live by and it really puts your mind at ease. At points on the trek your body will work it’s hardest both mentally and physically, between my guide Kul and being in constant communication Arun. I was always aware that if an accident were to happen I would be taken care of. Even at the end of the trek Arun and Raj went out of their way to help me explore the rest of Nepal at their own expense just to ensure I made the most of my trip. I cannot recommend these guys enough for any trekking and adventure related activities in Nepal!

I cannot fault my experience with this company, the owner was very helpful. We arrived 3 days early so he sorted our hotel and airport pickup accordingly, we met before setting off on the trek and he explained each day in detail and answered any questions. We were also provided duffel bags, down jackets and sleeping bags.
Our guide Netra made the trip amazing. He was very informative, caring and funny. He sorted our rooms and food each day. He waited on us hand and foot. He gave a detailed description of what to expect the next day when we sat together for dinner. He played cards with us, told us jokes and taught us some Nepalese.
7/5 stars would recommend to anyone who is keen to hike EBC.

On 11/16 last month, a group of three of us embarked on a half-year EBC trip.
During the planning period, in addition to contacting Raj, the tour guide who came to Nepal last time, to arrange a planned itinerary for us, we also collected some precautions for going to EBC.
When we arrived at the Kathmandu airport, Raj personally picked us up and arrived at the hotel where we stayed. Then he introduced us to another tour guide, Santos. Raj told us that he could not go with us this time, but his future itinerary will be with us. Staggered, you can contact directly if you need anything.
The EBC itinerary is 11 days in total, Santos and two porters accompanied us to complete it, 8 days for the ascent section, and 3 days for the return section. Impressively, Santos is very good at controlling our footsteps. We can all arrive at the itinerary destination before the estimated time without being too tired.
During the trip, Santos specially reminded to drink plenty of water to prevent altitude sickness.
There are many houses on the mountain, which is not very convenient, but I think Raj's company has reached the best arrangement.
There was a small episode on the return journey. When I returned to Kathmandu from Lukla, I waited for a long time for the plane. At 3:30 in the afternoon, I said that the flight was cancelled. I was really dumbfounded. The next morning, I took off and landed at another airport, and it took more than five hours to pull the car , I just arrived in Kathmandu, and it was already evening when I arrived at the hotel, so I spent a day and a half.
On the same day, the executive manager of Raj’s company came to the hotel to greet everyone and issued climbing certificates. Except for the above episodes, the rest of the itinerary felt good. On the day we left Nepal, Raj also came to greet us.
Thanks to Raj for the arrangement, let us safely complete the long-planned life feat, by the way, the average age of the three of us is 60 years old.

11yrs ago we decided to make a trip to Nepal. We came across Nepal Hiking Team through internet research and got in touch, booked our first trek Annapurna Base Camp (ABC). This is when we first met Raj (Trekking | Tour | Guide Nepal), our guide. The trek was just two of us, Raj and our porter Yam . Raj was early in his career but his experience superceded him. Raj made it all so easy for us, ever smiling and always ensuring we as his clients were comfortable, happy and enjoying our trek. We kept in touch over the years, and 11 years later we decided to return to Nepal for a new adventure, Gokyo Ri trek. Having used @NepalHikingTeam already, we knew we were in the best of hands when we reached out to them once again. On arrival at the airport in April 2022 we were greeted with a very familiar face, Raj! From here on, we knew we would never regret coming back with an exciting adventure ahead. He looks exactly the same, maybe a little chubbier with the covid weight, but didn't we all 😆. From the moment we landed to the end of our trek, Raj made it very easy, the trust we had in him we just got on like family. He always has a smiling face no matter what, the jokes and stories from his past treking adventures and caring nature has made us come away with another unforgettable experience in the mountains! He has helped many other tourists and guides along the way with his extensive experience that we witnessed at first hand on this trip. People listen and respect him be it the tourists or guides/porters whenever they were stuck/needed advice. Being a guide is one of the toughest jobs, they are constantly at the beck and call of their clients away from their own families. Finding the right treking company is one thing but your guide is more important as he/she is the one who will be with you 24/7 from the start to the end of your trek and will play a huge part in the experience you come away with. We already know there is another trip in the near distant future, back with Raj!.
It takes a very special type of person and skillset to be a guide and Raj is definitely one of a kind!

I love Mardi Himal because it reminds me of Mossy Forest trek which we have in Malaysia. The trek is reasonably climable, even though you feel like the never ending stairs in front of you. The view along the way is really superb, and Escape Himalaya trek give us best cost and excellent services for whole trip arranging good guide and porters they are so friendly helpful we are recommended to them always available to answers our queries. I have no regret, even with minimum training. If given the chance, I will definitely go to Mardi Himal again in future with them.

We had the most incredible experience trekking the Annapurna Circuit with Escape Himalaya in March 2022. The trip was certainly eventful, the weather perfect and the scenery spectacular!
Both Dip (guide) and Naba (porter) were amazing in looking out for us throughout the trip. Dip taught us so much about the local culture and customs and we've come back hooked on the card game Jhyap. As we were on a private tour Dip allowed us to be flexible in our itinerary and was very thorough in outlining all the options so we could extend some days and shorten others to best suit our needs.
We can’t wait to come back to Nepal in the future and without doubt would go straight to Escape Himalaya for any future treks and would recommend them to anyone looking to do the same. They were extremely organised in arranging all the logistics required for us before, during and after our trek and meant we were able to focus on truly experiencing the Nepal and the Himalayas. Thanks again for a truly unforgettable experience!

Nov 2019
My wife and I had the outstanding opportunity to trek to Everest Base Camp in Nov 2019. Our group of seven was lead by Guides Raj and Uttam. Raj and Uttam are very knowledgable of the entire area, providing lots of interesting information and very helpful advice along the way. They were very patient with us, and their service to our entire team was nothing less than fantastic. We would definitely recommend Raj and Uttam and Escape Himalaya trekking company to anyone wanting to do any trekking in Nepal. Ten out of Ten!!!
