- Psmita840 contributionsCharming Chandragiri ExperienceWe were a group of 3 people (with one super senior citizen) who spent an afternoon in Chandragiri Hills as a half-day trip from Kathmandu. The team at Himalayan Planet Adventures were extremely professional with a timely pickup at our hotel, helping arrange a wheelchair for my grandmother for the entirety of the trip and even taking her around especially up the steep climb to the top of the mountain. Our guide Anantha was a god sent, extremely courteous, helped us take my grandmother in the wheelchair both in the cable car and also around the area. He was knowledgeable about the history of the Chandragiri attraction and also the Bhaleswor Mahadev temple. I couldn’t have done it without his help 🙏 Overall the trip from pickup to drop took around 5 hours and a memorable one. What stands out is how senior friendly it is which is a rarity across Khatmandu. Thanks a ton again to Anantha for giving us the gold standard treatment.Written 13 November 2024
- Sherriparks0 contributionsTerrific and peaceful tourPankaj was a great tour guide teaching us many things about the Nepalese culture and Hinduism. He generously shared about his personal life story and made us feel connected to him. We were able to get a special blessing and make a wish at the temple. And, we saw many magnificent views of the Kathmandu valley. This was our third tour with Himalayan Planet Adventures. Highly recommend the company and Pankaj!Written 9 November 2024

I booked the Nargarkot sunrise trip only two days in advance, and coordination with Himalayan Planet Adventures was very easy. The guide (Bidur) and driver promptly picked me up at 5:15am for the trip to Nagarkot. Upon arriving, we had tea to keep warm and then went to the sunrise viewing point. Although it was a cloudy day, I can imagine that the sunrise would be great from Nagarkot. Breakfast at Club Himalayan Resort was excellent, and it was worth the extra price. After breakfast, we began our hike to the Changu Narayan Temple. It was a peaceful escape from hectic Kathmandu and interesting to see a more rural lifestyle so close to the city. Bidur was a great guide the entire time. He was kind enough to answer any of my questions, describe the history of sites we saw, and always offered to take my picture. The hike was good exercise, and there were opportunities to take the car if you wanted to make it a shorter hike to the temple. Changu Narayan Temple is very peaceful and one of the lesser visited UNESCO World Heritage Sites. I definitely recommend this tour if you want to explore outside of Kathmandu!

We started off our day being picked up early in the morning to see the sunrise. On this day, the fog moved in quickly which obstructed the mountains; however, we were still able to see the amazing sunrise! The road to Nagarkot winds up the mountain and the road is in relatively good shape compared with others in the area. The driver was excellent as well. We then had a wonderful breakfast at Club Himalaya that is perched on the mountain top. Next, we parked and hiked with our tour guide, Madan, who did a fantastic job giving us knowledge of the region and temples along the way. I really enjoyed being able to walk through the villages and see how the Nepalese live plus it was a nice relief from Kathmandu with fresh air. The valley views were also breathtaking! We hiked for a few miles then had the option of taking a car to the last temple which is mostly uphill. We felt good so we decided to keep hiking and we were so glad we did as the views continued along with perfect weather! Madan was the ideal tour guide who seemed very experienced and was also flexible based on what we wanted to do. We hope to come back again soon to take a trekking trip with Himalayan Planet Adventures and Madan.

Had a great time capturing the sunrise view from Nagarkot observation point and it was worth waking up at 5am for the one hour journey from our hotel in Kathmandu. The hike along Nagarkot village was very pleasant too with scenic views along the way and we were lucky to have Madan Thapa as our guide as he is very helpful and well versed in terms of local culture and history. Wouldn't mind doing this tour all over again if we have the chance to visit Nepal again in the future!

Me and my sister really enjoyed our trip to nagarkot and the hike to the hindu temple. It was great to get out of the craziness of kathmandu for the day and breath clean air up in the hills and watch the sunrise. It was a little foggy but we still had lovely views of langtang and the ganesh himal range.
Our guide Bidur was friendly, chatty and answered all of our questions. It was interesting to learn about the mountains from him and also more about Nepali life and Hinduism. We didnt feel rushed and he took us for a lovely breakfast and offered us to stop for tea later in the day too.
Would recommend to people who want to see how many nepali people live and have a short mountain escape from the valley and stretch their legs on a lovely downhill/flat walk.
Thank you for the great day!

The Nargakot sunrise and day hike tour was a truly memorable experience for us. We got the best view of the sunrise over the Himalayan ranges from the Nargakot tower, which is a small tower in the middle of the viewpoint area. Following the sunrise was a breakfast paid by ourselves (not included in the tour) at a hotel recommended by our tour guide. After breakfast, we started the 13-km hike from Nargakot to Changu Narayan temple. The hike was easy and mostly downhills, taking us through the villages where we could see the daily life of Nepali people. We did the tour in late December so it was freezing during the sunrise, but afterwards the hike warmed us up and it got hot later in the sun. So one pro tip is layer up for the morning and get ready to leave your jackets in the car when the hike began.
Communication with the tour organizer was fast and responsive. Our guide Som was also very helpful and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend this tour!

We booked this tour to enjoy the trekking experiences and to see sunrise and mount Everest from Nagarkot View point in Nepal. It was well worth.
We were lucky to see the sunrise view and Himalayas mountain chain due to weather permit and it was breathtaking.
Breakfast was not that good. I was hoping to enjoy local nepalese cuisine.
After breakfast, we went for trekking and it was nice experience short version of trekking through nepal local village.
The last stop was at Changu Narayan - UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Our Guide Madan was experience and he explained well about the trekking experiences.
Would recommend!!!

I had a great time on this tour! Shishir was a very knowledgeable guide, always in good spirits! The hike is a good way to explore the countryside in Nepal, giving you a different perspective of Kathmandu.
Everyone was on time and very responsive, despite the smog, we could still get a glimpse of the mountain ranges for sunrise. I recommend this tour!

The transportation will bring you to the highest point, and from there walk downhill all the time (except 20min up, easy trek), passing by small villages and some temples.
What could be improved: for the coffee break/breakfast at the start of the trek (at your on expense, obviously) could have been in a restaurant with an impressive view, instead of the so-so place they chose. As a positive, the restaurant restroom was very clean. The guide was a 10!! friendly, acknowledged and adapted his walking speed to our condition. He also does longer treks in the Anapurna range, so he was great to talk to!

Had a brilliant hike/tour with Bidur who was so friendly and chilled. We got collected from our hotel and driven up to the view point in time for the sunrise which was beautiful even with it being hazy. Afterward we went for breakfast followed by the hike. The hike from start to finish was was amazing, we passed through many little villages before arriving at Changu Narayan Temple. Bidur was very informative throughout and if we ever return to Nepal we will definitely book in again for a longer trek and would hope to do so with Bidur.

Unfortunately we weren’t able to see the mountains during the sunrise as the weather was hazy but Shishir made sure we still get a wonderful time during the tour. He was very professional and friendly, he would ho out of his way just to please you. I would recommend Shishir and this tour to anyone who wants to escape the busy streets of Kathmandu and get some fresh air in the mountains.

Dear sir/madam,
We are interested in your tour to Nagarkot from Kathmandu. Now it says in the additional information:
Not recommended for pregnant travelers.
Now it is true that my girlfriend will be 12 weeks pregnant around that time. Why is it not recommended? Is it because of the altitude?
Thanks in advance!
Greetings,
Julian

Hi, myself and one other person looking to do this tour in February. We are wonder rather than being brought back to Kathmandu after the tour is it possible to be dropped to Bhaktapur instead?
Written 13 January 2020
We also stopped at Changu Narayan on the way back to Kathmandu. It is the oldest temple in Nepal. It only takes about an hour to take in the whole site. The tour guide came with us and told us a lot about the temple and the driver waited for us. No extra cost - we just tipped more to show our appreciation.

you do not need trekking boots to go do this tour, there is not too much walking which needs to be done and it's not difficult at all and i guess you would be picked up from durbar square in patan but that you have to check with your tour guide and driver! i was picked up from my hotel early in the morning but i was staying in thamel!
