The vehicle was spacious and very clean, our driver excellent and very attentive. Our guide was very interesting and you could tell that he really enjoyed his job. We made several stops on the way to the church, the countryside is very beautiful, and the people friendly. after visiting the church we visited Tiya, here we visited a local home where cooking skills were demonstrated, a great experience and lovely food. So we decided to do the 1-day private tour (as a couple) and we were so thrilled with the tour experience. Our guide Biruk was amazing and so knowledgeable with flawless English - he was also so friendly and fun to be with. He patiently and gladly answered all our many questions and really helped us see the non- touristy part of Addis which is exactly what we hoped for- got to experience the culture, delish homemade food - and even helped us bargain for a scarf. I travelled to Ethiopia as a solo Canadian lady, so I was looking for a tour operator who was reputable and would ensure I was safe for my visit. During booking, Muluken was so attentive and helped to customize a fantastic experience for me. We combined three separate tours so I could experience Addis during the day and at night, and also a visit to Debra Libanos and the Portuguese Bridge. It was amazing! Biruk was a phenomenal guide and our two drivers (Sirak and Endalaw) were great! Watching them easily navigate the busy streets was something else! Biruk is incredibly knowledgeable and made my visit a special experience I will never forget. He even made a few tweaks to the itinerary while I was there to ensure I got a truly Ethiopian experience (a quick ride on the train, gelato stop, selo bar, etc). Biruk made sure I was safe during our visit to the Mercato market and helped me negotiate a good price for the basket I bought there. He was a very fun person to be with and I felt like I was touring around with a friend, not just a tour guide. Lots of laughter and fun! I highly recommend this tour operator and cannot say enough great things about my overall experience with them. I cannot wait to return to Ethiopia again - this time, I’ll have a few friends to visit! Thank you, Muluken, Biruk, Sirak, and Endalaw!

We booked the full day private city tour of Addis Ababa, there was great communication before the day via email/whatsapp. The day before we were sent a message with Biruk (our guide) telephone number so we could communicate on the day.
Biruk arrived on time at our hotel reception and we started the tour, his knowledge and expertise was outstanding and he taught us a lot about Addis. During the tour we visited the Central Market, this market is very large and Biruk navigated us through the winding streets and we went in a local small tea shop which was a great experience. We also visited the Museum, St George’s Cathedral, Palace of Emperor Mellenek. We were given full explanations and the history of each venue visited as well as whilst driving through the city.
The highlight of the tour was without a doubt the Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony & Lunch. We went to a local ladies house in the hills surrounding Addis, we were made to fell very welcome and one of the family. During the coffee preparations, we were served a lovely Ethiopian lunch with honey wine (non alcoholic) and a locally brewed liquor. The various stages of the coffee preparation was explained including washing, roasting, grounding the beans and then making the actual coffee. The coffee really was the best I’ve tasted.

You will need local birr as there are some places that require an entrance fee and the family hosting for lunch and coffee ceremony deserve a tip for their amazing hospitality

I highly recommend Merit for transit tours of Addis Ababa. I just had one day in Ethiopia on a layover and their fantastic itinerary gave me an excellent overview of the country's history/culture and its capitol city. Communication both with Merit and my guide was prompt and smooth. We did everything on the stated itinerary and they were able to add in some requested customizations I ask for. As a sole female traveler, I felt very safe and comfortable throughout my tour. I would not hesitate to use them in the future when traveling to Ethiopia. All in all, a great way to do a lot if you have limited time.

Our tour guide, Biruk along with our driver, Siruk (not sure if spelled correctly) provided us an amazing full day city tour! We started our day by checking out the national museum, followed by lunch at a local place with coffee ceremony! After telling Biruk what I wanted to buy for souvenirs, he took us to a pottery workshop followed by Merkato market and a local bakery. Biruk made sure we were buying our items for a fair price. We also went to Entoto park and got an amazing view of the city. We had an amazing day through out the tour and even decided to book a last minute tour the following day. I highly recommend booking through MEET, the owner, Moluken, responds quickly and is super helpful. Make sure to ask for Biruk as your tour guide!

Henok, our guide was awesome! Very professional and his knowledge was good. He took us through the itinerary as well as making our wishes outside the itinerary come through. This tour was absolutely the highlight of my trip to Ethiopia. Our guide Brook was amazing. He arrived promptly with a warm smile and it was like meeting an old friend. He was so knowledgeable about the country and answered all of our questions. It was a private tour with me and a friend so we were able to customize it. The very beat part was when he took us to one of the locals houses and they prepared a full on Ethiopian meal along with homemade beer and wine. We got a change to grind coffee beans and learn so much about the culture. The Merkato market is an experience in itself. I’ve done a lot of traveling so I’m used to these open air markets but we were able to go to places that we would not have known about without our guide. He was also security for us making sure we did not become overwhelmed by all the local activity. The tour was only supposed to be about 9hrs but we were all having so much fun that he agreed to take us to see more of the city. If I ever come to Ethiopia again I know exactly who to call.

The trip was amazing! Biruk was a very knowledgeable tour guide who tries to accommodate your needs as best as possible. Knows many different things and very hospitable, chill and patient individual. Addis was a great driver and reliable. The food was great and unique experience, Mercado market was very interesting, the museum shows all different information about Ethiopia, and we were taken to Bilal museum upon our request, which was also interesting.

When you have a guide like Biruk touring Addis felt so smooth. He is knowledgeable and full of information . He and Sirak (Driver) were flexible to fit our needs with out hesitation, they just made our tour very memorable. Addis is just beautiful along with its different shades and I am in love with Injera and tibs now.

My tour of Addis Ababa with Biruk was excellent! It was especially nice that he had a driver who could drop us off to look at something and pick us up when we were ready, so finding parking wasn’t necessary. Biruk was very giving of his time and knowledge—which is extensive, of the city and its cultures. I really enjoy walking through the markets—Biruk was very “protective,” and the coffee being made and sampling the local food was fun. The museum at the university is fascinating. We did an extra stop at a pottery making facility, which was so interesting. It was a great tour and helped make my visit to Addis Ababa great! I absolutely recommend it.

The hotel where I will be staying is confirmed 24 hours before the tour application date. Can I tell you the pick-up location at that time? Also, two people are planning to apply, and each can stay at a different hotel, so I wonder if pickup is possible even if there are two pick-up locations.

Hi, our flight arrives at 6.15 and the hotel is picking us up from the airport - so we are not exactly sure what time we will be ready to be picked up to start the tour. Is that okay? What time does the tour usually start? We should be ready by 9am. What happens if our flight is delayed?

Our flight landed at 6:30, we’ve used the hotel’s shuttle to get to the hotel and we were ready to go by 8:30 after breakfast. Few decent hotels are a short driving distance from the airport. We’ve set to start the tour at 9:00 AM, which left us plenty of time, Yahred the guide was waiting for us at the lobby and said he will wait as long as needed if we won’t be ready on time.
