Overview
Visit Ait Ben Haddou and Ouarzazate on a full-day trip from Marrakech that explores two kasbahs, the fortified cities built to protect against desert raids. The day features guided tours of each destination while you cover gorgeous terrain, from the Road of the Kasbahs to Tizi n Tichka, one of Morocco’s most dramatic mountain passes. Included entrance fees and transport make this an affordable tour, with customizable upgrades available.
What to Expect
Meet a driver at your hotel for the trip across the High Atlas Mountains. Your vehicle will climb the winding Tizi n Tichka pass to the Road of the Kasbahs. Your first stop of the day is Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO-listed fortified city whose towers are decorated with geometric patterns. This is among Morocco’s most recognizable film sites, and there you will have the option to sway through the city on the back of a camel; other tour options include lunch at an Ait Ben Haddou restaurant.

Next, head to Ouarzazate, which long guarded the edge of the Sahara Desert and is now a favorite destination for filming movies in Morocco. Tour the beautiful Taourirt Kasbah, and then enjoy some free time to explore on your own before returning to Marrakech.

Great experience

Awesome trip. Although the ride is quite long (~4h one way) there is much to see along the way, impressing nature and nice views. The Kasbahs and desert are breath taking.

Kasbahs

The views of this Kasbah is amazing. The weather was perfect for exploring. We really enjoyed Quarzazare even though we had lots of trouble remembering how to pronounce it!!!

Worthwhile (but long) Day Trip!

TLDR: Drive is scary through the mountains, but so worth it! Except for the 4-hour drive each way through the scary, winding roads of the Atlas Mountains, we had the best time ever! Absolutely worth the day trip to see Ait Ben Haddou. Our driver,...More

It is just a bit of a walk in Ait Ben Haddou, but also many stops for explanations. If you manage to find shady stops and have a bottle of water with you, hopefully you'll be fine. There is "an old bridge", which is... More
