We LOVED our adventure rappelling in the rainforest with Jack & Elena as our guides! The lush jungle plants everywhere on the road to Hana were beautiful and added to the enjoyment of the whole experience. Plan a little extra time to drive part of the road to Hana to get to the Garden of Eden Botanical Gardens. It took us longer than expected travel time.
I was impressed with the way Jack & Elena patiently led our large group and encouraged us if we felt reluctant to go over the edge when rappelling over the waterfalls. Many of us were a bit apprehensive about this, and our guides were attentive, helped us navigate safely, and were FUN! You do want to be in fairly good physical shape to navigate the rocks, swim and do a bit of hiking. We absolutely recommend this for families (teenage kids) who are up for a thrilling, empowering adventure in Maui. 😀

Rappel Maui was a lot of fun and our two guides were great (unfortunately forgetting their names, two awesome women). My boyfriend was extremely nervous to rappel but by the end of the 2nd waterfall, he loved it! The guides make you feel very comfortable and safe. I would give 5 stars, but we both wished there was at least one more rappel (we did 3 total), but that also would make it over 3 hours, so it depends what kind of time you want to spend doing it. We wanted more but also wanted to get started on the rest of the road to Hana since we planned for that the rest of the afternoon. (Side note, if you are planning on road to Hana in the same day, we did not make it to the 7 sacred pools because we decided that we didn’t have enough time to get there and enjoy it by 5pm when they closed…I might recommend doing road to Hana a different day so you can start earlier and have more time).

This was an amazing and unforgettable experience! Our guides/instructors were Debbie and Taylor ( 2 very cool chicks) our group consisted of me & my BF, another couple and a family of four. We met at a park & ride lot and were given the option to ride in their van or follow in our car. We chose riding as did the other couple. The ride is on “The Road to Hana” so you get to experience some of that. D & T were very good at giving us some history about the island and suggestions for things to do here. The rappelling takes place at “The Garden of Eden Botanical Park” a privately owned property and it is beautiful with amazing views. First you get your gear (helmet, life vest, harness and special booties). There is a hike to get to the first rappel. This one has a burlap like covering and is the “bunny run” so you can get used to leaning back over the edge and walking down backwards. The second is next to a beautiful waterfall but you are on a dry section of the cliff at the bottom is pool of water. I thought this was the easiest of the 3. The last one is also a waterfall but your u are much closer and for a short time in it there is a pool at the bottom of this as well. Stopping to take a look at your surroundings while rappelling is encouraged and they are very patient and give step by step instructions when needed. The hike back up is a workout but you are rewarded with lunch! We had wraps, pineapple, cookies and bottled water. Very tasty and FRESH! There was a photographer for the first 2 rappels (I don’t know if they ALWAYS have him there but sounds like they try to) the prices I felt were very reasonable compared to other places. They also have athletic t-shirts with their logo for sale (mailed to you) payment for both and gratuity for the guides was via credit card. This was a bucket list thing for me and a conquest over a fear of heights for my BF. We had a great group of people, I cannot express how thrilling this was and I think everyone had such a sense of accomplishment. We felt safe the entire time and it is memory that we will never forget! If you are looking for something to do that is off the beaten path in Maui I highly recommend Rappel Maui!

I highly recommend this activity. We did this as an excursion through Norwegian cruise line. Our group of 5 ranging in age from 13 to 67 had a great time. None of us were experienced at rappelling, but that did not matter. The guides make sure you know what to do and help you through the tough spots. The drive is about 30 minutes from the port to the site which is part way down the windy road to Hana, so if motion sickness is an issue, be ready. After gearing up, we walk through the rain forest to a practice rappel of about 30 feet. After that you go to a 70 foot waterfall and then one about 40 foot high that is a little more technical. In each case, you end up in the pool beneath each falls area where you need to swim to the shore to await the rest of your group. You will travel over boulders, rocks and up and down steep trails along the course.

They do have a photographer along that takes pictures which you can purchase for $35 per person with a max of $150 per group. A number in your group is determined to be the people in your party at the time of booking, not the combination of all parties who went with you.

This was an amazing experience and I would highly recommend it for someone seeking a unique and thrilling adventure. Our guides Anne, Abbie, and Luke were friendly and funny, very knowlegable and patient. They were our cheerleaders and went the extra mile to make sure everyone felt incredibly safe while having a great time. It was challenging but so worth the feeling of accomplishment and excitement! The waterfalls and the hike were some of the most beautiful sites we saw the whole day and it was great to swim in the pools.
Leave yourself extra time to get there and to get through the entrance gate. Also, if you are doing the rest of the Road to Hana that day, this activity does eat up a lot of time and we rushed through some of the other stops.

We did a private tour for a group of 7 and had a blast. Half of us had rappelled before and the other 3 had no experience. Sam and Shauna were excellent guides - safety conscious, encouraging, thorough, informative, and fun. Our private tour - which I would highly encourage - allowed us to get in 4 rappels. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed the experience. A couple of things though... if you are expecting long zipping vertical rappels this is not going to happen. The "cliffs" are uneven and not smooth. The rappel is more of a vertical to high angle descent. That said, we had a blast and enjoyed the water entries. Again, we had Sam and Shauna and they impressed the adults (46, 48, 50, 51) and teens (3x 18 yo). A great time.

Such an amazing experience! The staff running the tour (Sam and Elena) really made the day as great as it was! They were encouraging, friendly, knowledgeable, and overall made us feel very safe and taken care of.

The tour itself is incredibly beautiful, and allows you to see beautiful waterfalls and pools that otherwise would not be open to the public. Would highly recommend!

We booked an 8 AM excursion for our family of five, one senior in high school and two college kids. Heights are definitely not my thing but I was taking one for the team! Naomi and Ropheka were so patient, thorough, encouraging, and,,most of all, fun! We arrived and they met us at the gate, showed us where to park, and walked us to the base camp. Once there we got suited up in clean, well-maintained equipment. Hiked to the first rappel which was the “bunny hill”. Then rappelled two waterfalls before hiking out. The hike out is not for sissies! 20 stories of rough, gravelly, wooden, rain forest steps. clean flush toilet bathrooms and changing areas available both before and after. Highly recommend!

What a fabulous excursion. My only wish is there were more waterfalls we could do. This event is inside the Garden of Eden, just tell them you are there for the rappel and you dont pay the entry fee ($20/person so its expensive) I would not change anything on this. While it is suitable for almost anyone you should be in decent physical shape or its going to make you pay for that extra pizza you have been eating.

This was an amazing experience and I highly recommend it. Let me start off by thanking Debbie and Taylor for being the amazing guides that made this top notch. They were so full of interesting history and information regarding the sights we saw on the way and of Maui in general it made for an enjoyable trip. They also offered everyone ginger candy to help with motion sickness on the twisty road. They explained everything very well and one of them always went down first and the other was last. It is such an adrenaline rush to go backwards over the side of a cliff! Debbie and Taylor made everyone (there were a total of 8 people, us another couple and a family; 2 adults 2 kids 14 & 10 yo) feel safe (my boyfriend is terrified of heights but agreed to go with me and he was so glad he did) The first one is dry and the other 2 are actual waterfalls. I have to mention the area, it is so beautiful and there were no other people around. After the second rappel it was so nice to sit on the boulders and look at the scenery. After the final rappel we hiked back up to where we started and there was lunch waiting for us. Turkey or roast beef wraps, bottled water, cookies and Maui Gold pineapple, the BEST pineapple I have ever had! After we ate they gave us time to check out Garden of Eden Botanical Park which is lovely and has a great view of the last waterfall you rappel down and a distant but pretty view of the ocean. We had so much fun and plan on doing this again next time maybe with the zip line added.
