5-Hour Roatan Island Cultural Sightseeing Tour including West Bay Beach Resort
From US$ 35.00
Roatan Island is a popular destination for cruises from Honduras, but many island tours only take in the top attractions. This half-day island tour is run by local guides, so you can learn more about Roatan culture as you visit Panorama Hill, Coxen Hole, and French Harbor; spot sloths and monkeys at Victor's Monkey Business; then dive in to swim and snorkel at West Bay Beach.
What to Expect
Meet your Fun-n-Sun Guide, along with others from your ship, ONE HOUR after your ship's arrival at the dock...and begin your tour day in one of our air-conditioned tour vehicles. Your guide will share our unique landscape, local culture, as well as some Roatan/ Bay Island history. Your tour group will make several sightseeing stops along the way, allowing you to get outside of the vehicle for some outstanding photo opportunities. A stop at Roatan's Panorama Hill offers an open view of our island, villages and cruise ports. Some of the sights that we will share include: shipwrecks off the shoreline, the villages of Coxen Hole, French Harbor, Sandy Bay and West End, overlooks showing the jungles and coral reefs, etc.
Then, a bonus stop and optional free access to Victor's Monkey Business. Here, you may visit the monkeys, sloths, parrots, island deer, and other animals, if you like. Or, alternatively, do some on-site souvenir shopping for Honduran products (mahogany crafts, coffee, vanilla, etc.) If you'd rather, kick back on one of our hammocks or picnic tables surrounded by tropical trees and watch guests as they zip along on the Mayan Jungle Canopy overhead. (Unfortunately, this tour does not allow extra time for the zipline experience, please see our other VIATOR tour "Zipline, Monkey and Parrot Interaction plus Beach Resort Combo Tour in Roatan" for a tour that DOES include the zipline!) Restroom facilities are available here, too!
After a bit more sightseeing, we will stop by West Bay Beach and the Bananarama Beach Resort. This is Roatan's most beautiful white sand beach, lined with resorts, restaurants and bars. During this beach resort stop and you will be able to explore the mile-long beach, snorkel, swim and relax! You will be provided with an arm-band allowing you access to a beach chair, restroom facilities and fresh water showers at Bananarama Resort! West Bay Beach, protected by the offshore reef, is a wonderful sea grass and rock-free beach with powder-soft sand unlike any other beach on Roatan...it is groomed and maintained daily. There are many water-activities available here, and you can rent most anything: kayaks, canoes, snorkel gear, jet-skis, parasail, bananaboats, etc. Or, just relax and enjoy a cold beverage or a snack at one of the many restaurants or bars, including the tasty menu at Bananarama!
After your beach-break, we will load back up and do a bit more sightseeing on our way back to the cruise ship ports. Our Highlights tour is designed to allow for more shopping time in and around your dock upon your return.
Note that our Fun-n-Sun tour is a group excursion with others from your ship, and operates on a set itinerary. No customization is possible on this tour.  ALL FUN-N-SUN tours depart the designated assembly areas ONE HOUR after your cruise ship's scheduled arrival time on our island...no customization of departure time is available at this time.

Beautiful Island

Because the port, Mahogany Bay, is owed by Carnival Cruise Line, you must exit the port and walk a bit to find the independent tour companies that will be waiting for you. We followed the directions we were given to find our tour group and...More

Massive disappointment

I was so disappointed with this tour, I don't even know where to start. First, the name is wrong - there is nothing "cultural" and no "sightseeing" included at all. According to the description, "This half-day island tour is run by local guides". Nothing like...More

My husband and I took a cruise for our Honeymoon and had the best time in Roatan. Our tour guide was Isaac, and he was the sweetest! He took us all over the place telling us about the culture and what not. On our tour,...More

We were able to decide if we skipped the beach or stayed. The length at the beach depending on what else we did, so if you skip the beach you should have extra time for other things.

it is completely up to you how long you are there. You decide and customize the trip, at least that is how our trip was fashioned. Some are structured but ours was custom.
