About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- logcabinresort0 contributionsFantastic Day in RoatanRoatan Adventure Tours is fantastic! Our driver, George, was very informative and helpful for the entire experience. He was always available without hovering. We felt very safe and comfortable. George kept us informed about the next activity so we were never concerned about what to expect. The zipline company is a short distance from the cruise port. The employees made us feel safe while careening over the jungle and their enthusiasm was contagious. What a fun experience! The beach club was pleasant, the food fantastic and the beach was easily accessible and beautiful. The staff were friendly and not pushy like many of the vendors strolling the beach. Such a wonderful way to spend the day!Written 3 March 2024
- Road210914516610 contributionsHighly recommended and best guide JoelThis was such an amazing, beautiful and interesting trip! Joel was showing us this wonderful place and island! He was the best guide we ever had! He showed us the best places and where always very interested in our conditions and what we want to see and know. We can Joel highly recommended to make a trip on this island!Written 27 January 2024
- Linda K0 contributionsGorgeous area! This was terrific! I don’t snorkel but my husband does & I was able to stay on the boat & watch—not a hardship because it was gorgeous! The beach was great, the food was great, the drinks were great, the snorkeling (according to my husband) was amazing. Our tour guide could have been more enthusiastic but overall this was a wonderful excursion!Written 6 July 2023
- Patty G0 contributionsHIGHLY RECOMMEND!!Ron Rivers is the best man on the island to get you around! He knows everyone and all the best places to go for adventures and for the best food!!! We had the most amazing time on our vacation because Ron was the best tour guide we could have asked for. We gained a friend on this visit and we are so blessed!!!Written 9 June 2023
- Cosmopolitan4869810 contributionsSo much fun!I was impressed with the safety features on the zip line. Also there were two guys, one that went ahead & one that stayed untill the last one jumped, so there was always someone with us.Written 23 February 2023
- D1752HVkristenh0 contributionsThe rain didn’t stop us!Our tour guide, Jeff, helped us make the most of our rainy cold day in Roatan. Jeff took us on a tour of the entire island and showed us all the sights. He took us to see the sloths and monkeys at a place that was less busy than the place we had planned to go. Jeff was very friendly and knowledgeable. We had a great time and it was because we had such an amazing tour guide. Thanks Jeff for making our day much brighter.Written 30 December 2022
- cathyl8000 contributionsA Great Day in Roatan! We have been to Roatan several times and hadn't found that right tour company yet. I was referred to Ron Rivers by our favorite Belize tour operator and I am so glad he did. Ron was so easy and fun to work with setting up our day. When we arrived in port, we met up with Dolphus, our guide for the day, and we couldn't have asked for a better guide. He was totally dedicated to making sure we had an unbelievable day in his beautiful country. We did the sloths and monkeys and, as usual, they were all so fun to interact with. We then went to a small boat dock where we met up with a small local boat and captain who took us through the mangroves. So peaceful and quiet. The ride along the coast was fun as we saw things like the Czech Village and some of the local houses on the shore. We then went to Stonecastle Cameo factory where we spent some time visiting with the owner and awesome artist, Franco. He is really so interesting to talk to since he is actually from Italy and the original factory run by his family. All the time going from place to place, Dolphus was informative and entertaining, even showing us the house he grew up in. We could not have asked for a better guide/driver and plan on asking for him again. We will also plan on booking with Ron and Roatan Adventure Tours from how on. We highly recommend them and feel sure you will not be disappointed!Written 21 November 2022
- debbiefC5376QU0 contributionsGreat ExcursionWe did the BFK Beach Break & Lunch at Big Key Resort and loved it. We spent time at the beach & Lagoon area. Had a good lunch buffet, took a 20 min boat tour. Our tour guide on the bus to the excursion was verd and very informative. We really enjoyed it there.Written 9 March 2020

- uniquehandle19730 contributionsJeff was awesome!Jeff met us as we were disembarking the ship, and we had a short walk to his vehicle. He drove us to the beach resort and escorted us in. He hung out while we swam and lounged. When we were ready for snorkeling, he drove us to the boat. Another couple guys took us out and guided us along the reef. Afterwards, we asked Jeff to take us to a restaurant where locals dine, and he took us to an awesome restaurant which we greatly enjoyed. Thanks, Jeff!Written 27 November 2019
- TravelStephen120 contributionsMost Amazing Day, Ask For CourtneyA tour like no other. Personalized, safe, and full of fun. Sloths, Monkeys, Maccaws, Mangroves, and ATV riding in the rain all in one fast excursion day from a cruise. Oh and Lychee fruit picked up from roadside stand, homemade fruit drinks on the island (again roadside stand), and the best meal we had on the entire cruise (again local roadside stand) all because Courtney knows everyone on the island and everyone loves his zeal for life. One of the memorable days as a family ever. Thank you Courtney.Written 12 October 2019
- pizzarat0 contributionsPerfect excursion full of local flairs and flavors. Informative and FUN!Michael picked us up right outside the port and made us feel super welcomed. As we drove through the rolling hills, Michael gave us a run down of all the activities you can do while on the island and of course, a brief history of Roatan and its natural beauty. He dropped us off at a private beach resort at West Beach first and we swam around a bit and got a snack before heading to snorkeling at the West Bay. If you are prone to sea sickness, I would highly recommend taking some motion sickness pills, patches, or even the sea bands. Since you are out at open sea, it can get choppy with all the other boats around. BUT, the snokeling was absolutely amazing. Our boat tour guide used bread to lure some schools of fishes around us and we got some incredible videos and photos of them coming right up to us. The coral reef was breathtaking. Definitely a must-see when you visit Roatan. All in all, Michael got us to and from excursions on time and provide incredible service throughout the trip. I wouldn't hesitate booking with him again!Written 8 October 2019
- mscarol810 contributionsSo relaxingThere was a passive protest going on in the road on the way, so we had to take an alternate route. What an adventure! We had a nice, delicious outdoor lunch. A parrot walked over to me and sat on my hat on my head. We went snorkeling and felt very safe in the water. There was lots to see. Bring a towel because the tour doesn't provide any. Afterwards, there was time to zipline or nap in the shade. The beach was not very crowded. It was a lovely day.Written 18 August 2019

Responses to my inquiries and questions were answered immediately and there is an easy option to pay online if you want, Competitive prices and very easy to customize your tour. Our guide Dolfos was waiting with a big sign at the end of the dock (a detailed set of instructions with colored map indicated how to exit the port) and our day was perfect. Dolfos was personable and knowledgeable about the island where he grew up. He took us to all the places on my list and had plenty of suggestions about other things to do. He took us to a great lunch spot on the beach and arranged a very inexpensive boat ride for us with a friend. He could NOT have done a better job, He is known an held in high esteem by every one on the island and I would highly recommend requesting him! Make sure he takes you to the small chocolate factory tour. It is excellent and the chocolate is some of the best I have ever tasted. The smoothie shop is also awesome!

We were a party of four picked up at the pier by a great driver/guide, Jefferie Johnson, who was outstanding and could not have been better. He gave us an unforgettable experience. We firstly visited a monkey/sloth/parrot sanctuary where we were introduced to the animals and had a very informative talk from the sanctuary keeper. We visited many area of interest on this island and toured most of it in an air conditioned car. But to me the highlight was the boat ride that Jefferie organised for us with one of his friends to visit the mangrove swamps where many houses are located on stilts and travel across bays and inside coral reefs to reach them and finally travelling through arches made from Mangrove roots as a commercial canal for small boats to reach these houses and villages. This 90 minute trip was just out of this world and a great experience and can recommend to all. Thank you Jefferie for giving us such a great second to none experience.

Our island tour of Roatan was AMAZING!! It was one of our favorite excursions. Our guide, James, was extremely friendly, respectful, knowledgeable about the island, and a great guy to be around. He recommended a boat tour through the mangroves which was absolutely breathtaking, then he took us to lunch at a restaurant with a view, and we ended the day at a beautiful beach (with less tourists - which is exactly what we wanted.) It was a great day - thank you so much james!!!

My cruise on the carnival vista was canceled 15 hours before we were supposed to start loading on the boat. I contacted this company to see about getting a refund on the excursion I had pre-purchased from him. The company was very cooperative and friendly. I’m sure there is a lot of confusion and a lot of things going on with this virus but he handled it very professionally. I look forward to going back and actually taking the trip with this company. This is terrible for their businesses.

Once we met up with our tour operator, it was a very long walk to his car. He said parking is getting increasingly worse on the island. We just wanted to ride around the island, see the sights and learn more about the island. George was very knowledgeable. The last stop was for food and beverage. Restaurant was very slow and very overpriced. Considering we had all of the food and drink we wanted on the ship, already paid for, we asked to just go back to the ship but our driver insisted on stopping at the restaurant. I must learn to be more forceful when saying no.

Planning a trip to Roatan? The company you want is Amazing Roatan Adventure and the driver you need is Jeff James. Roatan is chock-full of things to see and do so it can be difficult to fit the best into your schedule. Being a local, Jeff knows his home island like the back of his hand. Our party of three was delighted to experience the island in authentic and exciting ways that only Jeff could deliver. We got lucky to draw Jeff as our driver but you don’t have to. Request Jeff James from Amazing Roatan Adventure as your driver and you will not be disappointed.

Our guide, Rudy, was great. He was friendly and polite and took us around the island and did the things we wanted to do.
However, there was one issue with lunch. The place he brought us gave us a run down of the lunch and that the beach chair/umbrella, bathroom and WiFi package was $10 a person. There were 7 of us so that would be $70. When we asked the if they took credit cards he said yes. So we proceeded to eat there. We all order things we would have not ordered if we were paying in cash (saving the cash for the beach chairs, umbrellas, WiFi and bathrooms). When the bill came, he first told us the credit card machine was not working. When we told him we might not have enough cash, he then said it would be a 19% extra charge to use the credit card. We weren't sure what to believe now. So we had to pool our cash together to pay for lunch. Then we had no more for chairs/umbrellas/WiFi/bathroom and had to sit in the sand. We also did not have cash for Rudy's gratuity. So to leave Rudy a tip, we had to pay by credit card with 19% fee. I hope others that read this are now aware of the credit card fees in Roatan.

Amazing tour by Jeff! We had our stops already planned and he added a bonus and took us to an amazing local restaurant. It was raining and we decided not to stay at the beach and Jeff drove us around town and showed us some of the local culture. Jeff was very hospitable, kind and accommodating. When booking your tour be sure to ask for Jeff. This tour is locally operated, which made it even more worth it. I love to support locals.

Our driver/guide was Rudolf. He was amicable, knowledgeable and flexible. In the time available to us he drive around the island showing us the high points and commenting on the island’s major features and wildlife. We saw lots but never felt hurried. We recommend this way of seeing the island.

We enjoyed the animal sanctuary with slots, monkeys and maccaw birds for additional charge of $15pp.
After circling the island, we spend most of the day at Turquoise Bay Beach Resort, beautiful calm beach almost like being in a pool with no waves. That was an option $15pp that we asked for and decided to skip chocolate factory. It was our choice and we had a terrific time. Our driver was patient, knowledgeable and did what we wanted!

Hello. We will be traveling to Roatan in July on a cruise. We are wondering what different options there are to costuming this tour. We are interested more on the adventurous side and would like to do an activity and sight see.

Hi - we are a family coming to Roatan in the beginning of Feb. Do you drive to places, a bit away from all tourist hangouts, with nice marine life and possibility of snorkling with this tour? Regards Indu

Hi we are arriving in Roatan feb08 2023 on royal caribbean allure of the seas. We are just interested in Tabyana beach.
What is the duration of time at the beach including travel from pickup at cruise ship to return to cruise ship.
Thanks
Written 2 September 2022
The times will vary- that is a question solely for your cruise ship representative or look online at your reservations and you an see what time the boat docks & departs at each and every port. If this beach is for an excursion those times are available online with your reservation or cl their customer service and they can tell you. We did not go to this beach but went to one right near the port that was beautiful.

Hi, I am trying to book but a little confused. When I go to reserve it does not ask me location of pick up and when I get to the end it is blank and I try to edit and it wont let me. Also when do we customize the day once we get picked up? Thanks Angela

Morning, try calling trip advisor, we had a similar issue, and they were very helpful....
Written 8 April 2022
This private customizable tour takes 3-6 hours, as it says. So 6 hours would be maximum time we can use this tour, right?
Written 31 March 2022
I would say yes, say from 9am-3pm. Plenty of time to visit many places, have lunch, drive the island, do an activity
