About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- ECPKNL0 contributionsGreat tour with expert guideExcellent walking tour of the main sights of Antigua. We are two adults and two teenagers. Our guide was Geovani. He is Guatemalan and is very experienced and knowledgeable about Antigua. We learned a lot of details we would not have learned otherwise. We did the tour in Spanish but he can also do tours in English. One of our children was sick and could not go on the tour. Geovani was very patient with us, waiting half an hour while we got things ready.Written 27 November 2024
- ericbH9824TY0 contributionsHighly recommended for ride from airport to AntiguaExcellent service. Easy pick up. Friendly driver. Convenient from airport to Antigua. Modern vehicle. Would use again.Written 23 November 2024
- April S0 contributionsPrompt and courteous serviceOur flight was delayed. It was easy to contact them and let them know of our new arrival time. They were waiting outside with our name on a sign when we exited.Written 7 October 2024
- 759ramasamyn0 contributionsGuatemala, a great destination! We planned our private trip with Authentic Guatemala with a friend’s recommendation. We were well taken care of by Fabio and his entire team. The hotel selections were good and schedule well thought out. Every driver … Carlos, Wilson & Raphael and every single guide Giovani, Walter, Juan, Kevin and of course Luis in Tikal were excellent! Thank you to all for making our trip fun and memorable!Written 12 September 2024
- O2161YHmarib0 contributionsThe best boat tour on the lake!We had reached out to Fabio to schedule a boat tour on the lake and he scheduled everything for us. We were picked up by Nikolas and his crew from our hotel dock and spent the whole day going to three different Pueblo’s and learning about their history and different products that come from them. We got to try honey wine and artisanal chocolate and see how the women of the area make beautiful textiles. We had a blast and the weather was beautiful the whole time.Written 3 September 2024
- O2161YHmarib0 contributionsThank you Fabio and Abel!We arrived at the airport and were greeted by our driver Abel who would be driving is 3 hours out to Lake Atitlan. We barely felt the drive there. Abel was very knowledgeable about all the areas we drove through and made sure we were comfortable the whole way. We ended up requesting Abel be our driver both for our return to Antigua and then to the airport. Abel also made sure we had his Coordinator’s info if we had any other things we’d like to plan. Fabio was very kind and always answered all my questions.Written 3 September 2024
- TrippyTripster900 contributionsGreat service all aroundI contacted Fabio over Whatsapp a couple of months ahead of our Guatemala trip and he was able to arrange everything over a few text messages. He was efficient and responded quickly to all my questions. Apart from the private transfers during the trip, we ended up booking a private birding tour in Los Terrales through Authentic Guatemala. The cars used for the transportation were in excellent condition and were comfortable and spacious. The folks who drove us around - Abel and Wilson were extremely courteous, punctual and accommodating. They made traveling with a 1.5 year old a breeze! The birding tour was amazing. We got to explore the preserve at our pace and our guide Eve was extremely knowledgeable and professional. We are grateful to her for showing us around. Fabio checked in on us during the whole trip and really appreciated that - five star service all around!Written 12 August 2024
- micheski0 contributionsGreat tour with a knowledgeable guideHad a great all-day tour of Antigua and the surrounding communities with Geovanni. It couldn't have been any more perfect. He was very knowledgeable about the historical, agricultural and religious significance of the things we saw and the places we visited. Pick up was at my door and, as it was a private tour, we were able to take our time and see the things that were of interest to me. It is a good tour for someone who doesn't have a lot of time in Antigua and wants to see more than just the Arch and souvenir shops. Thanks!Written 15 June 2024

- N6205KNkatherinew0 contributionsAmazing tours in GuatemalaI contacted Fabio to help organize a trip to Guatemala for me. I wanted to see the Mayan Ruins and a couple other specific places, but I only had one week. He put together a full, well-priced tour for me, complete with hotels, transportation, and guides. Even when my in-country flight was delayed by two hours, he made sure I was able to join my tour upon arrival. As I single female traveler, I never felt unsafe or alone, and Fabio checked in with me daily to make sure things were going well. My visit to Guatemala exceeded my expectations. The country is gorgeous and the people so kind and helpful. I highly recommend a visit to Guatemala and the services of Fabio and Authentic Guatemala.Written 9 March 2024
- ameliasolis0 contributionsGreat overview of Antigua! Our guide Giovani was fantastic, he answered all of our questions and elaborated on them. We enjoyed his recommendations, explanations, and vast knowledge of Antigua and Guatemala. If you are curious about history, please book with him. My mom and I thoroughly enjoyed the tour and learned a lot! P.S. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes as all the streets are made of rocks!Written 3 March 2024
- tracyaschall0 contributionsGreat company! Our driver, Wilbur, seemed to have supernatural driving abilities for our transportation from Guat City to Panajachel. I recommend Dramamine before the trip and expect an experience like riding a rollercoaster in a theme park. Beautiful views and very clean and comfortable vehicle.Written 19 February 2024

I highly recommend the "Half Day Guatemala City Tour" with Authentic Guatemala!
Fabio Saenz was our tour guide. There were only three of us in the van, so it was a nice small group.
Fabio was excellent. He was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, personable, and spoke perfect English.
First we started out on a driving tour. He took us through the main zones of Guatemala City. As he was driving, he would explain what we were driving by and we were able to get out of the van a few times for pictures.
He then parked the van in a parking garage in Zona 1 (Zone 1), the Centro Histórico of Guatemala City and we did a walking tour of this zone. We walked the fun and chaotic shopping street of 6th Avenue....churches, markets, restaurants, and tons of people. We stopped in a bakery (panadería) to use the restroom and purchase some drinks and snacks. We also stopped in a candy store (dulcería) to try some traditional Guatemalan sweets. We watched guys play the marimba, ate granizados from street carts, and visited Plaza de la Constitución, Palacio Nacional de la Cultura, Mercado Central, Catedral Metropolitana de Santiago de Guatemala, and other historical sites. We ended the tour with an ice cold chibola of Gallo cerveza at Restaurante El Portal.
Thank you, Fabio and Authentic Guatemala for a memorable and fun tour!

My wife and I recently visited Guatemala City and found ourselves with an extra day but no plans. We contacted Fabio Saenz at Authentic Guatemala Tours and with little advance notice he was able to arrange a city tour the next day. Our guide, Monica, arrived the next day promptly at the appointed time in a modern mid sized car. Monica is a second generation tour guide following in the footsteps of her parents. From the outset it was clear Monica really enjoyed her job and the city she lives in. Monica was a wealth of information and provided us personal insights as well as historical background at all the places we visited. We had many highlights during the day but the Berlin Wall, the three level underground city market and the view from the rooftop restaurant are all favorite memories. I have no hesitation in recommending Authentic Guatemala Tours. Special thanks to Fabio for arranging the tour on short notice and especially to Monica for providing us with such a wonderful experience.

We did a half day city tour of Guatemala City with Gustavo as our guide (we also had a driver). It was a great intro to the city! We drove around the city to various points of interest so that we were able to cover the most ground possible (and were able to recover from the heat with bouts of air conditioning in the vehicle). I don’t think we ever walked for longer than about 10-15 minutes at a time, if that is a factor for you. We walked through multiple zonas, had a great view at Plaza Berlin, were able to see the government buildings, and had the opportunity to explore the Metropolitan Cathedral, walk through a nearby market, and see the national palace from the outside. At one point we were able to make a quick stop for snacks and drinks, which was appreciated as it is a 4-hour tour and it was a hot day. We learned a lot about the city and I never felt unsafe as we walked and drove around the city. I would recommend this tour if you find yourself with an extra day or half day in Guatemala City. Note that you do have to pay in cash on the day of the tour so be prepared with cash!

Monica was outstanding. We had just arrived in Guatemala and this was a fabulous way to start our journey. She took us to a breathtaking view point where we could look over the city and onto the volcanos in the distance. We got to see all different zones and areas of the city. We got to walk through the vibrant and lively market, have an intimate view of the cathedral in town and ate at one of the best rooftop bars around. The food was amazing. Monica was so well educated on the history and culture of her country. She knew many things about everything and we were blown away at her precision when mentioning dates and events. Overall a fantastic experience. So glad we booked it!

A most pleasant and personal tour of Guatemala City by Gustavo, a friendly and knowledgeable guide who loves his country and what he is doing. He drove us through the city, took us on an interesting walk in the center, and was patient with our questions providing a good local perspective and honest answers on history, politics, and daily life. He was patient and very kind with my 8-year old daughter. I wish we had Gustavo touring with us in Antigua and Tikal too. We are grateful.

The tour was one of the best I had while visiting Guatemala. My tour guide Gustavo was very knowledgeable about the culture and history of Guatemala and patiently answered all my questions. We got to visit many places around the city including an hour inside the government building (which was fascinating to see). I highly recommend this tour.

Our guide was very knowledgeable of the history of Guatemala and Guatemala City. We visited the main sites of the city as well as some neighborhoods and throughout the tour, he would provide commentary and answer any questions. Definitely worth it to get a good overview of the city.

Basing in Guatemala Ciry for a few days and so glad I did this tour day one. Learned a lot about the city, saw their best churches, got great details on the historical sites seen and going through their central market was a cool experience.
My guide took me to the top of a building in downtown that had amazing views. Saw they had a restaurant and returned there a day later. Would have never known about that gem (called Los Tres Tiempos - Centro Histórico) if not for the tour.
The map site is really amazing too. Can’t imagine the detail that went into that model.
Thank you so much for a great experience. Highly recommend.

is there any pickup from and back to the airport please?
Written 4 December 2018
This is a tour service but they seemed very flexible so it might be worth contacting them. A lot of the hotels have a pick up and drop off service so check with your hotel as well. If they don’t offer this service then they can certainly arrange it for you. My wife and I got a regular taxi from the airport and had no problems. Sorry that I don’t have more definitive answers for you.
