Varied and delightful day out from Llubjana
We took this tour in March 2020, a couple of days before Slovenia locked down (and a week before the UK) locked down for Covid. So we were delighted to get away with a personal and small group. This was an excellent tour; highlights included visiting Bled Castle, the fascinating museum, walking around the lake, and visiting a local hotel for fabulous cake (which we know as vanilla pastry). We also enjoyed walking around the gorge and taking photos of famous sights in the shadows of Slovenia ski slopes. An extra surprise at Lake Bled was being interviewed by Slovenian national TV as to why mad Brits were travelling to Slovenia at this time. Have ticket will travel; and the scale of the Covid issue had yet to hit the UK :-(.

      Incredible tour
The tour was amazing. The cave is breathtaking, one of the most incredible landscapes I've ever seen in my life. The castle is also fabulous, a truly unique structure. Both are must-sees in Slovenia. Our guide, Miguel, was incredible—very competent, friendly, and attentive. Everything went perfectly. I highly recommend this tour to everyone!

Fabulous guide. Excellent trip. I highly recommend
Postojna Caves are a must-see when visiting Slovenia. They are spectacular. The combination of the 6km train ride and the 1km walking was perfect. And Predjama Castle is very interesting being built onto the side of the mountain and connected with the cave system. It's unlike any other castle!

      Castle and Caves worth doing
Vlad was the most amazing guide. He was charming, informative and funny. The tour of the caves and castle are well worth the trip and Vlad made sure we skipped the queues.

      Stunning Nature
A wonderful tour for exploring the beautiful natural wonders that Slovenia has to offer. The Gorge was spectacular and both lakes were just stunning. We had plenty of stops for photos. A great lunch at a local restaurant in Lake Bohinj and finished with the famous cream cake on the terrace at Lake Bled.

      Really unique and beatiful experience
The tour was great, is a really unique experience; different to everything else. Also the guide was friendly and provided us with a lot of information about Slovenia in general. My only suggestion to those who have the time would be to split the tour, do Bled one full day and Postojna another to avoid rushing.

Great Tour with a Great Tour Guide!!!
We really enjoyed this tour, and I would highly recommend the To Do In Slovenia tour company. Our tour guide, Doman, was a great story teller and it made the drive to and from the cave and castle go by quickly. He gave us a lot of good historical information about the cave and castle. Note: It's important to wear stable/slip resistant shoes or this tour. Some of the areas are a bit slick and there are some steep steps to climb.

Interesting visit of Cave and Castle
I would definitely recommend this half a day trip. Our tour guide Kaya and behind the wheels Marjan were excellent. Kaya was very engaging with our group and did not made us feel bore at any point. She was very informative and friendly. Visiting the cave was unique experience and is recommended if someone would like to see a different world. Predjama Castle was ok. I would say the castle view was scenic however there was not much to discover inside the castle.

      Short but worthwhile day trip
This was a tour with a group of 8 people. Our guide was Igor. Of the 3 day trip tours out of Ljubljana I took, this one was the shortest. Our guide was both knowledgeable and was able to recommend some nice restaurants from the very affordable to the medium priced when it came to authentic eateries and the recommendations were good. The actual tour ends at 2 PM since there are only 2 places to visit. The good thing is that the tickets are included in the package and they're inclusive of audio guides for the castle and are pre reserved for the time slots. The caves are a must if you're new to viewing caves like I am. The electric rail ride itself was a fun little attraction inside the cave. Yes, for the cost this is a shorter tour than others, but it includes the ticket prices and is very nice and I was able to do an afternoon activity in Ljubljana Castle by myself afterwards so the timing is actually beneficial in some ways if you're tight on time.

Look Outside - and Inside - the Experimences
What can I say - a fantastic day! Abitor was a superb guide. Information - but also fun facts about Slovenia, playful and always excited to *be* the tour guide, too! Lots of history, but never like a "script". He was also available for any questions. Awesome!

      Brochure is misleading!!!!
The brochure listed Blend Island, Blend Castle, Traditional Boat Ride, Blend cream cake. None of this is included, if you want to go to the island on the boat it is 18 euro, if you want to see the castle it is 17 euro, no cakes in sight, even at the bakery on the island. If you want to go inside the church on the island it is another 12 euro. Would not recommend this tour, all of us on the bus thought it was a rip off. Also, to take the boat, you have to have cash!

Guide Barbara was informative and friendly. She provided great insights into the history of Ljubljana over 2.5 hours. It was a very busy Saturday morning with loads of tour groups around. Would it have been better if she had a microphone connected to each individual?

Thank you for your feedback! We're glad to hear that Barbara provided great insights into Ljubljana's history and that you enjoyed her friendly and informative approach. We appreciate your suggestion about the microphone—on busy days, it could indeed help ensure everyone hears the guide clearly. We’ll consider this for future tours. Hope you had a wonderful time in Slovenia!

Katia was a terrific tour guide. Easy to understand, especially because she spoke slowly, great English and had a microphone. So even with the group, it was no problem hearing what she was saying. Very knowledgeable, good pace for the tour, really enjoyed it and learned a lot.

A castle within a city is rare but this is very beautiful. No climbing involved as a fenicular takes you up the hill in five minutes. The castle has a museum and ,of course, the view. The climb to the tower is quite a lot but worth it. And of course, in the courtyard nice cafeteria.
The walk around the city centre with ornate bridges and street markets( it was a Sunday) asdd a lot of charm to the excellent weather of late June

We enjoyed this tour as it offered us a good overview of this charming city. Our tour guide was wonderful and fiercely proud of Slovenian culture. We also got an excellent history of the city and the country. The tour also included the funicular u0p to the castle which was nice.

Hi SNG56! Thank you for your kind words. I am happy to hear that the tour covered all the basics. Ljubljana really is a charming city, our mayor never misses a moment to let us know it is "the most beautiful city in the entire world." I am also glad you were happy with your tour guide, whoever it may have been. Hopefully you left some parts undiscovered and will return one day. Until then. Kind regards, Rok

I arrived in Lublijana late for the tour; I was delayed at the border driving from Zagreb. I called the phone number on my ticket and they refused to help me until I politely said I would post a review on tripadvisor; then they helped me. The tour is run by the tourist office (book directly), and they were very helpful; they even found and walked me to my tour.

I have significant personal knowledge of the former Yugoslavia as my grandparents emigrated from Croatia, my grandfather from Sosice (a tiny hamlet in the mountains where memorials at the badger cave not far from Sosice denote the place the partisans took revenge against Nazis and collaborators) —- my father’s first cousins were partisans and fought with Tito in the mountains. One was Tito’s foreign minister, the other Yugoslavia’s ambassador to the UN. I asked a detailed question, Martin snapped “were you not listening to a thing I said?” His description of Solvenia’s simple withdrawal from Yugoslavia, with Serbia’s acquiescence and no blood shed was insufficient to explain why, shortly thereafter, when Croatia initiated its withdrawal, Serbia bombed the heck out of Dubrovnik (theSerbs backed off when/because Germany stepped in to support Croatia) I do know the various conflicting explanations and wanted to hear the Slovenian view —- Martin treated me like an idiot although I am sure I know more of the history of Yugoslavia than he does. After asking another question, I stopped. Martin was arrogant, condescending and rude.

Dear MMR7224, thank you for your review, we are glad that you gave us a chance to become better and better. As we always try to give our best for you to have a great visit of our capital city Ljubljana. I was in the office that particular day when you called and to be honest I am sorry to hear that we refused to help you as this is not truth. As you were late we had to call from our headquarters to the city centre to check if guide is still there and if everything is possible to arrange for you. We informed the tourist information office about your absence so they were able to help you out when you reached Ljubljana. As per guide Martin he is one of our most regular guides and we spoke with him as we are surprised of your response. He is sorry that he did not fulfill your expectations regarding your questions. Guides that are responsible for this particular tours had to go through tough and very hard studies and exams to pass the licence for the local guide. For sure we will take everything you wrote into consideration, to become even better in the future. Best regards, Martin Popit

We've booked this tour based on multiple outstanding reviews and were very disappointed when our guide seemed like he didn't want to be on the same tour as his group.

We have been on many city walking tours around Europe, many of which were free (Bucharest, Barcelona, Florence, etc) but never had such poor experience.

Right from the start he made us feel unwelcome by picking up the phone and talking in Slovenian in front of us multiple times without any explanation.

The guide skipped through centuries, historical locations, names, figures in such incoherent way that we never managed to build a story about this beautiful city and its historical development.

And as if this wasn't enough, he took us to the Castle in the middle of the tour (so that we used the funicular ticket) and then made us come back to the city only to look at the market and two doors at the cathedral (which wasn't free to enter). Because he only shared a few basic facts about the castle our group wanted to stay and explore the castle on our own.

However, when we'd stopped outside the cathedral doors, we heard another guide from the same tour provider, and she sounded very enthusiastic about Ljubljana's history and heritage. So I'm sure the tour would have been an entirely different experience if she took us around instead.

So, I guess, in order to have a good guided tour try to check who your guide would be the day before you book it.

Our tour took place at 10am on Weds, 10th July 2019.

Dear MillaBasma, thank you so much for your review, we are glad that you reviewed our services as we want to get better and better with every feedback. We are sorry that we didn't fulfill your expectations. As this is a prepaid tour we have a rule that guides have to call to our office in case of non shows since some of the clients who pay the tour don't show up and our guide wanted to check if some of participants are late or they are not coming to the tour. We want everybody to participate and help them with directions in case they need it. We would like to point out that at the moment we are in a high summer season and Ljubljana is really a popular city to go to, so the waiting lines at the funicular ride are sometimes over 30 minutes long. Thats why our guides can go to the castle in the middle of the tour so that you will not lose a time waiting in the line. The tour includes English-speaking local guide, funicular ride to Ljubljana castle and a tasting of Slovenian cuisine at a local restaurant. The cathedral entrance fee is not included and not specified in inclusions in the time of booking either. We will definitelly take your feedback into consideration and try to do our best in the future. Best regards, Martin Popit

Marjana was a VERY knowledgeable, informative, engaging, and humorous guide. (Being an English instructor/coach in Minnesota, USA, for 4-5 decades, I do pretend to know good instruction). After visiting castle, I may take a refresher tour. Kudos to Marjana and this fabulous program; having toured much of western Europe, UK, and the Middle East, I can think of no better way to see/learn about the jewel that is Ljubljana.
