We booked this trip prior to arriving in Marrakesh & we were not disappointed with the tour. I received a message the night before with clear instructions on our meeting place & time. The transport was a quality minivan with comfortable seats & our driver was excellent & very trustworthy. Our guide Idris was such a lovely man & provided us with interesting information about the Berber people who live in the Atlas Mountains. The camel ride was optional ( 2 of us did it while the other 2 did not) but it was a bit of fun! The hike was beautiful though I would recommend sturdy walking shoes & Idris made sure we were safe & assisted us over any awkward places. After the walk we had a lovely lunch at a restaurant in the mountains which was 7 € (very good value!) & our friend Idris helped with serving which we thought was lovely. All in all I think this tour was good value for money at £21 per person & lasted from 9.00-6.00 so a full day out. Thanks to Idris we had a great day & special mention to our driver who kept us safe.

After a slightly confusing start due to a communication mix up about start time( booking said 9 AM but the guide said 8.30 AM on the day before), we set off in a rainy and cloudy day.
The guide who had local knowledge of the weather swapped the itinerary so we did the camel ride first. The camel guides took amazing pictures and videos with just our phones and the photos looked so professional!
Next stop at a valley and then the Argan co-op where we were served bread with various dips. No aggressive marketing by the woman but we bought a few things to show support to them.
Then a breath taking ride through the Atlas Mountains before stopping for a hike and lunch.
We were amazed at the quality of the lunch provided for just 6 Euros per person. The Tagine was better than what we had in good restaurants in Marrakech. It was an amazing experience to sit amongst the mountains seeing the snow clad Atlas Mountains above and a beautiful deep valley below.
We then set back to Marrakech with the trip ending around 4.30.
It was a good value for the money we paid.

Overall a very good trip with our guide Redouane. Pickup is arranged the evening before; your guide will reach out to you via email or WhatsApp to arrange pickup. Unfortunately our pickup ended up being 35 minutes later than what the guide told us which was the only downside of this trip!
The trip starts by driving from Marrakech into the lower Atlas Mountains where you stop at scenic spots to take photographs and admire the views. Shortly afterwards you are taken for a traditional Amazigh breakfast of bread served with various oils and honey, accompanied by a tour of how the Amazigh people produce Argan oil for both consuming and for cosmetic products.
The second section of the trip you will be driven into the higher atlas mountains through winding mountain roads with stunning scenery on every corner. You will stop in a small Amazigh village in the mountains where you will proceed on a hike to one of the local waterfalls. This hike has some high up sheer drops and steep sections, therefore I would not recommend this trip for young children, those scared of heights or anyone not physically able. Make sure to wear comfortable footwear. After visiting the waterfall you will continue the hike where you will end at a local restaurant for tourists where you will be served a 3 course lunch including a delicious Tagine (this costs 70 Dirham extra per person, definitely worth it for the value!).
After lunch, the final section of the trip heads down the mountains and into the desert offering more stunning scenery and allowing you to see many villages and landscapes many others don't see when they travel to Morocco. The trip ends with a camel ride where you will be dressed in traditional Amazigh clothing for your 20 min ride around the desert.
Overall a very goof trip that we'd definitely recommend!

I’d recommend going on daytrip tours from Marrakech as you get to see life outside the city and engage with more traditional Berber culture. Originally we were going to hire a car to save money but driving in Marrakech is like real life bumper cars, so in the long run booking the tours was probably cheaper than fixing a crashed car.
Being picked up from our hotel made the trip stress free and we had a very friendly guide who was enthusiastic to tell us about life in the Berber villages.

This trip was amazing value for money, and Khalid looked after us so well. We were picked up from our hotel about 8.15am, and after visiting a few other areas of Marrakech to collect other people, we set off towards the mountains.
The itinerary of the trip was altered as the weather in the mountains wasn’t great first thing, so we headed to the camel ride first. The staff there were kind and careful to ensure everyone was comfortable on the camels. They and Khalid were always on hand to take pictures. The ride was followed by some tea, and then on to the argan oil cooperative for a snack and more tea, along with some info on how the oil is made, and used to create various products (which of course you could buy, although they was no pressure). By this time the sun had come out, and the snow capped mountains appeared.
The next stop was in a village to start the hike to a waterfall. It took about 20 minutes, and is steep in places but should be ok for most. The waterfall was pretty, but for anyone that has travelled to wetter areas you’ll probably have seen more spectacular versions. In a country with so little rainfall, it is sight to behold though. On the way back from the waterfall you stop for lunch at a restaurant with a rooftop terrace overlooking the valley.
From there we wound our way back to Marrakech. There are a number of additional stops (and toilets!) during the trip to take photos of the scenery. Khalid was always available to take photos of the various groups with our own phones or cameras.
All in all a really great trip that allows you to see a beautiful part of Morocco. For the £28 per person we paid for the 8-9 hour day it was incredible value. Highly recommended!

This was a fantastic experience which I highly recommend!
The trip started off great with pick-up, the bus was clean and roomy. We got information from our guide Ibrahim regarding the different stops. Our first stop was at a valley where you had a beautiful view of the mountains and could take very nice pictures or just enjoy the view. Thereafter we drove through the mountains which offered beautiful views and a safe road ( the driver drove carefully which we appreciated a lot). We thereafter stopped at a little village where locals lived, we got a free breakfast of bread, tea and different sauces to dip the bread in. It was very nice and the view from the rooftop was great. Thereafter we got an informative presentation of how argan oil is made and got to try different products and you could buy if you wanted but we didn’t get a feeling of being forced to buy anything which was nice. Then we got to look around in the town and got information about the people who live there and the area. Then we drove up into mountains and stopped in a city, we then went for a beautiful walk up the mountains (not very high however different terrains so I’d recommend shoes according to this) and got to see the village from above and then a very beautiful waterfall where you could rest and buy refreshments if you felt like it. Then a walk back through the mountain and town and up to a rooftop restaurant where you got a beautiful view of the area you had walked through. Then we ate nice, very affordable and price worthy food while taking in a beautiful view. Then the buss picked us up and we started driving back. The day ended with a camel ride, the staff was nice and the camels where healthy and treated nicely. Some people decided not to come for different reasons. Some I believe thought that it was animal abuse or something. The funny thing was the same people had just eaten chicken at the restaurant. In my opinion, as I said, the camels didn’t seem to mind much. They didn’t hit them with canes or suchlike. They looked healthy and before we arrived they just laid in hay and relaxed. We got some nice pictures and got to drink tea in a tent before driving back to Marrakesh and being dropped of. This was a very good experience and we highly recommend it, it was fun, priceworthy, informative and gave us beautiful memories.
Thank you for a great experience at our last day in Morocco, which became the highlight of our trip 😊🐫🌷☀️🫖

Incredible trip to the Atlas Mountains and with a camel ride and trip to meet the Berber people included.
The booking process was very easy and the night before, I had a message on WhatsApp from our guide (Yassine) introducing himself and setting out the pick up time and place. He also included details of the optional lunch at 70Dh per person so we had everything we needed before setting off.
We were picked up from College Mohammed 5 at Riad Laarouss and although it was very busy there with lots of pickups from various tours, Yassine came over to meet us virtually bang on time at 8.35am and took us to the tour bus, which was full for our trip. As we travelled out of the city, our first stop was the camel rides which was a great experience and definitely something you should try and do, especially in the desert. That was followed by some mint tea then Yassine explained some of the history to us and where we were headed to next. The next stop on our tour after climbing up the monutains was to one of the Berber women's Cooperatives, to see how Argan oil is made and to enjoy a traditional berber breakfast - top tip, try then buy, the peanut butter. It's like nothing you've ever had before but it is amazing!
The trip up through the mountains was incredible as well, the scenery was something to behold though at times quite sobering, given that there is stlil earthquake damage from last year and some reconstruction work continues. After the mountains, we had a 1 hour hike to the Ourika Falls, which was such a beautiful little spot and a lovely chance to cool off. That was followed by the optional dinner, which consisted of a chicken tagine followed by lovely fresh friut for desert.
Yassine was great throughout the trip, he took the time to talk about the location, the history of the Berber people and about their culture, which is something I knew nothing about before going to Morocco. We were back in the city by around 5pm as originally planned and although it was a long day, there was so much to see and take in but we loved every minute of it.
Thank you to Yassine our guide, definitely recommended and would happily go back.

My partner and I had a lovely time on this excursion. Our guide Ismael was so sweet, and shared his extensive knowledge on the Berber people and the Atlas Mountains. One of the villages we visited was his, which was super cool! The camel ride was really fun, and lunch was delicious. Unfortunately inclement weather (aka hail) had our group decide to forego the hike, but honestly the day was great regardless, and showed us a whole other side of Morocco. There was lots of families there as well; if you have kids aged 10+ I would definitely recommend it as a day trip (and in our group we had a variety of ages, from early twenties to sixties). The whole day ran smoothly; if you need a change of scenery from the busy city, enjoy nature and learning about history, this is the trip for you!

Hamza’s tour of the Atlas Mountains was absolutely lovely! The views are amazing, the villages are intriguing, and Hamza’s personal connection to the area makes his narration all the more special. He also went the extra mile to make everyone feel included and safe on our trip! Our driver Salah deserves honorable mention; he navigated winding mountain roads and city traffic with expertise. We would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to catch a glimpse of the beauty just outside the city.

Picked up on time (10am) from our hotel (Aqua Mirage), our driver Aziz Talauol was super super friendly and explained and showed us everything on the way without being overbearing. Answered every wish and question we had.
When we arrived at the Berber valleys we met our guide Hamid Lamdn, he was so super nice, he helped my mum who is close to 68 and needed sometimes help to step over stones on the way to the waterfalls. Again he answered every question and told us everything about the Berbers. After the magical waterfalls and the hike to a Berber restaurant where we had a fantastic , delicious and filling lunch for £28 in total for 5 people. Again TWENTY-EIGHT pounds for 5 people.
After the meal our guide waved us goodbye and our driver took us back to our hotel. It was absolutely amazing, my kids 7 & 9 had no problem hiking the way, in fact they loved it. Thank you soooo much it was a brilliant day.

I think so. Hike is very easy, just alone the pass. Might be tired on the minibus but if sleeps well on the road then should be fine.
Hope it helps!

Is the hiking a must? I read some reviews mentioning hiking was great but a bit tough. It would probably be difficult for my mother. Does she have to stay in the car and wait for everyone or is there anyway you can take her by driving to the same place while others are hiking?

Strictly speaking, it’s not a must, but it’s the main point of the trip. You can’t reach the waterfalls without hiking

Is the hiking safe - I seem some recent reviews that suggest on the mountain there are narrow paths with sheers drops you need to cross. Fine if there is space to walk safely but I don’t want to be rock climbing - is the route safe ?

Are the roads on the mountains where the car drives safe - ie no narrow roads and sheer drops with barriers on the side ?

The roads are well maintained and fairly wide and safe. Also, my sense after traveling to Morocco twice is that drivers drive fairly slowly and safely compared to other places.

Traveling with someone who does not want to ride a camel. Is there an alternate transpertation so they can be included while rest of group is on camel
Written 30 September 2024
The camel ride is optional, you can sit and wait for about half an hour under a tent with a morro tea which you all get at the end.
