Amazing day. You can check the itinerary on the website but the beauty of this tour is Sean. He's local, he cares, he provides local historical, ecological and cultural insights and promotes an amazing vibe between guests. Honestly couldn't say a bad word about the experience.

For context we also did a 'standard' wine tour with another company - exactly what you'd expect and no complaints (mini-bus, half a dozen wineries etc), but this is a different league and all together a much more premium offering. Highlight moment of our 5 days in the South West.

Hello Clonckers, Thank you for your comments about comparing the two different types of tours. Anyone who reads the review will get a good insight into the difference between the standard and premium tour and be able to make their own personal choice between the two. Were thrilled to bits that you had an amazing day and it was a highlight moment in your time in the South West. from Carla - Sean's Mum and review response writer.

From the moment Sean met us at the car park in Margate River to when he dropped us off at the end of the day, was exceptional.

It is really difficult to extract one part of the day that is better than any other, because the balance is just perfect.

Canoeing, this activity is not strenuous and definitely not dangerous nor will it have you swimming. The boats are safe and very easy paddle. Sean drives you to within feet of the canoes and gives very clear instructions. Could you do this activity if you have never canoed before, absolutely. Do you have to be hyper fit to undertake it NO! a moderate level of flexibility and a desire to enjoy yourself is all you need. The views are stunning, and the distance covered is just perfect.

Sean then took us off to a lovely beach side café for a quick stop to have a coffee and use the facilities before moving onto a secluded section of a river, where he gave us various different honey samples to taste whilst explaining them in detail. We looked at the Marron in the pool whilst Sean feed a very friendly lizard. Sean's aboriginal knowledge is vast but did not overwhelm the group, he has a great knack of judging his audience and welcomes as many questions as you can throw at him.

Off to the wine tasting. This is very special indeed and you will be treated to a very privileged experience at the Fraser Gallop winery. I won't give too much away but you wont be disappointed. The wines we tasted were exceptional and plentiful accompanied by a fantastic spread of food.

As if this wasn't enough, we then went onto enjoy a little more off road driving in his very comfortable LR Discovery, to then enjoy a great little walk along a section of the Cape track.

What to bring,
A personality, camera and a desire to enjoy a great day out.

Recommendation,
Don't leave booking this trip until the last minute, book it well in advance the opportunity to join Sean is highly sought.

I hope this helps and I would absolutely do it again in a heartbeat.

What a great day.

Sean took my family of four on a memorable private tour of Margaret River, which will stay with us forever (thanks for the cool pictures!). He kept his promise that none of us, including my two very young kids, would get wet or dirty. His itinerary has been mentioned by many others so I won't repeat most of them. We really enjoyed the activities such as the scenic paddle down Margaret River in the morning, the lovely lunch/tour at Frasers Gallop Estate and the hike up Wilyabrup cliffs. He was friendly, engaging and fun throughout our time together and even my kids warmed up to him. My elder one even thought he was going to see him again the next day when we went to our car. He isn't kidding when he markets this as a tour for people who doesn't take tour. Thanks a bunch Sean and hopefully we will meet again!

Hello castiel26, we love the review you've written, especially the parts about your children. You obviously booked a private tour so that the kids could come along and it's very special that they experienced the Discovery Tour. Teaching them about nature, history and the wildlife throughout the tour will have made a lasting impression and of course the wine and food was a bonus for the adults. Your wonderful review is very much appreciated. Thankyou for taking the time to let us and other readers know how much you enjoyed the tour. from Carla, Sean's Mum.

Nothing but great things to say about this day. We booked this tour after having been to the Margaret River region a few times over the years, so wanted something a little different from the usual wine tours. Starting with our guide Sean - he is a funny, chill local with a great appreciation of the area. He made everything comfortable and relaxed; it felt like hanging out with friends for the day. We started with a canoe trip which was serene and peaceful. My partner is deathly afraid of water and was hesitant about this part. Sean managed to make her feel at ease and before long she was loving the experience, particularly the birds that we heard and spotted from the canoe. Amazing views all day from the beach to Fraser Gallop Estate (beautiful wine!) to Wilyabrup Cliffs. Sean even sent us home with some amazing quality snaps at the end of the day. The highlight for me was pondering Aboriginal connection to land at the ancient waterhole. It was hard not to feel a sense of wonder and awe in such a special place. All up, top notch day, would highly recommend!

100% value for money, great host, canoed a stretch of the Margaret’s river, not a single drop of water on me, I was prepared to get soaked🤷‍♀️we had an amazing experience at the vineyard, lunch and fabulous wines, then a little walk up a stretch of the cape to cape trail. Sean put us all at ease and filled us in with so much information. The day flew by. I would highly recommend getting yourself booked on to this tour if your looking for a little adventure rather than a wine, wine tour! He’s a great guy, also a great photographer.

Great tour! It’s nicely personal with only 6 in the group. Sean puts everyone at ease and is packed with interesting information and stories which add context to the multitude of experiences and locations he packs into the day. We loved how you really ‘experience’ the area via canoeing, eating, drinking, and walking, as opposed to whizzing by in a car. Don’t worry about the canoeing, you don’t get wet or dirty!

As luck would have it, our day included two short rounds of hail! Sean timed it perfectly so that our canoeing was unaffected, and the second round just added atmosphere to our cape to cape views! Sean was well prepared with the Gore-Tex jackets! Thanks also to Michelle at Fraser Gallop. Highly recommended!

Hi Jez, Thank you for your terrific review. I think it may have been a 'first' that you had not one but two bouts of hail. It was definitely freaky weather that day. We got it down in Augusta too. The Gore-Tex jackets would've been very welcome. Michelle will be thrilled to know she got a shout out from you. from Carla, Sean's mum and review response writer

Chose this tour because I wanted to get off the beaten track a little bit while we were here in Margaret River and I'm super glad we did. Started off with a relaxing paddle down the river, then grabbing a takeaway coffee from the famous White Elephant cafe, before heading to a beautiful waterfall to check out the marron and taste local honey. We then had an amazing picnic style lunch and wine tasting at Fraser Gallup winery, before a 4WD adventure and walking a section of the cape to cape track. The tour only fits 6 people so you get to see more and do more than your usual tour, and it's great for exploring a little more of the region than just its food and wine (which are still exceptional). Definitely recommend for anyone that's a bit over your classic winery to winery tour and wants to see a little but more of what the region has to offer.

Warmth shown by Sean came through at the start. His subtle attention to detail and care made this day wonderful. The best day tour we have taken, and we are not young and have done many worldwide.
A tranquil canoe trip on Margaret River, then to the beauty of Prevelly Beach, off then to sense the calmness of a place special to our indigenous people,a privilege.
A tasty lunch amongst the casks at beautiful Fraser Gallop winery, was followed by being taken to sit on the cliffs, looking at the Indian Ocean crash onto the beaches in the distance.
We travelled in a comfortable 4wd and it has a maximum of 6 people making for a more intimate experience. We will definitely recommend and do this trip again.
Sean’s knowledge of the area has come from living their for many years, and his love of his home is so evident.

Such a fantastic way to experience Margaret River and the beautiful surrounding area. From the relaxing canoe ride along a calm stretch of the quiet river, delicious lunch and wine tasting at a prestigious winery to the 4WD and walk along the cliff tops as we watched the whales playing in the ocean, the whole day was enjoyable, well organized and unique. Sean is very knowledgeable and entertaining with his stories about the local area, and because there is only six in the tour group, Sean made sure everyone had the best time, Highly recommend to those who dont do tours!

Hi Fiona and Ray, You've written a great heading. As you've now found out, the Discovery tour is anything but typical. It's the tour that makes people realise that there's touring and then there's luxury touring. The latter being how Sean structures his tours and although he's very down to earth he's experienced how different doing things out of the ordinary can be. I'd be surprised if he mentioned that before he started the MRDC, he was the youngest General Manager in Australia of a 5 Star hotel and then the Operations Manager of Voyager Estate ! (He might have told you the latter one.) He saw a niche in the market and loves what he does. Thank you for your wonderful review. from Carla, Sean's mum and review response writer
