    An intertaining couple of hours
Such an informative couple of hours with Gregor on a private walking tour of Dunedin, he was full of useful information and a couple of tall tails as well.

    Hauntingly good tour
Gregor treated us to lots of stories at the cemetery and around Dunedin. We enjoyed the lunch where we had some of our best food on the trip. The last stop was Larnach Castle, and our visit there was interesting, too. He is a professional guide and a serious historian, and our group of four came away from our tour with good insights into Dunedin's history. RECOMMENDED!

THE BEST OF DUNEDIN? YES, IT REALLY IS …😊
This was a wonderful way out. Helped by golden weather and an amazingly informative and knowledgeable guide, I had had one of the best days of my first visit to New Zealand. Gregor’s knowledge of the city, Otago, New Zealand (and elsewhere) was the stuff of legend. It started in the North Cemetery at the Larnach family tomb where he revealed hugely interesting detail about the family ahead of the afternoon visit to Larnach Castle. Our swing past the gorgeous main old university building and the equally delightful railway station (he and I shared a live of trains and railways) raised the bar again. The stop at Baldwin Street where I had time to walk to the top (much puff expended!) was pretty special. But, for me as a rugby fan, the absolute highlight was that he happily detoured out to where the All Blacks’ feared House of Pain had once stood. Demolished now and confined to the pages of sporting history, nothing remains of this old multi-sport arena except for a wall of about six turnstile gates to which he took me. I was lost in time and memories of such entrances to the old open terraces I stood on as a boy 60 years ago in a far away country. Thank you, Gregor. The afternoon visit to Larnach Castle was fascinating, its gardens beautiful and its location on the hill breathtaking. Equally breathtaking was the scenic journey back with views from the hills across the water and out to the city spreading out on the hillsides. If you want to see the best of Dunedin in a day then this is the trip to take …

Easy from cruise ship, informative and friendly tour
Pick up from our cruise was super easy and on time. There were only 2 of us, so I appreciate that they didn't cancel and gave us a private tour. Lots of information and good overall city and castle tour. The lunch stop with incredible views and great food was also a bonus. Very nice, friendly, informative tour!

    Worthwhile and thought-provoking!
Gregor picked us up on time at the dock and drove sensibly in the rain. He is an amateur historian with a wealth of knowledge. He told us many stories and pointed out interesting sights. I especially enjoyed the cemetery. The lunch stop was well-organized and also delicious. I am very glad we booked this tour.

    Fun and Knowledge
Gregor is the best tour guide I have ever seen. He was 10 minutes earlier at my pickup location and drove me around Port Chalmers for sightseeing because we got there earlier while waiting for other tourists. He is so knowledgeable about history that he told us a lot of stories. It was a fun as well as an enlightening tour. I learned so much about Dunedin and New Zealand.

    Great day in Dunedin
Very enjoyable, informative tour with historian guide who knew all about the history of Larnach Castle. Also had the opportunity to walk up Baldwin Street, the steepest street in the world and to visit the historical Dunedin Railway Station. Went for a delicious lunch at the Luna Bar & Restaurant where we had great food and fabulous views. Excellent tour of Larnach Castle as well.

A great tour with a knowledgeable local expert
Our excursion with Gregor was wonderful. He picked us up front the cruise terminal and made it as easy as possible. He drove us throughout the city telling us interesting facts about each place, we went to Baldwin St., took a quick cemetery tour, had a fabulous lunch with an even better view, visited the train station, scenic overlooks, and ended with a guided tour of Larnach castle. He was a wealth of knowledge and was very efficient with the time. He had menus from the restaurant in his van and called our orders in so they were waiting on us when we arrived. It was great. He had us back at the ship right on time.

    Dunedin Done Right
Gregor was fantastic! He was exceptionally knowledgeable, joyful and full of wonderful facts and stories. Our tour began at the Larnach family tomb with many stories. We then went to the Dunedin Train Station, what a treasure! Next we went to Baldwin Street, the steepest street in the world. We were given the option to climb. What an experience! He took us to lunch at a small intimate restaurant with a view of Dunedin. We finished our tour at Larnach Castle. Gregor’s descriptions and historical knowledge made the experience exceptional. Being on a small group tour, we never felt rushed anywhere. Would highly recommend this tour and Gregor.

    Don’t miss this tour!
We had concerns when we were informed that our ship’s boarding time was changed from 4:00 to 3:00, but Gregor assured us that we would still be able to see just about everything. He told us all kinds of “dark tales” and was very knowledgeable about everywhere we went(he’s local). He continually studies the area in a quest to be even more well-informed. Our tour of Larnach Castle was leisurely and fascinating, with a brief time to grab a snack. We were back in time. Best tour ever!

Our tour guide was great, he really knew the history of Dundin. We arrived on a rainy day and he made all the adjustments needed to make our tour special.

    Highly recommended
Highly recommended. Couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend my day. Small group tours are the best way to get the full experience and history of the city. Thanks to Gregor for the history, humor and dark side of Dunedin.

Gregor was a knowledgeable and engaging guide to Dunedin. Walking the town from site to site with Gregor, we felt that we learned the history and special nature of this city that we were so glad was part of our trip itinerary. We travel a lot and hire local guides frequently. Gregor is in the group of people who know how to transmit to visitors what is special about a place because they have devoted much time and effort to discovering the unique. Thank you, Gregor.

We booked this walking tour to get a feel for the city during our port visit from a cruise ship. Although the city is walkable on your own having a knowledgeable guide brings the city to life. Without this tour we would never have heard of the Dunedin sound or visited a most remarkable pub. Quirky, but if that's your thing (and it is ours) this is a great tour.

We met our guide Gregor and once we shared pleasantries and a little about us, he jumped into the history of Dunedin. We were amazed by his knowledge and passion. He showed us several areas of the city centre and the history of many buildings and neighborhoods. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and time with Gregor!

Booked the walking trip as we do this in all cities we visit all over the world. Unfortunately this was the worst tour we have ever done.
Upon arriving at the meeting point, our guide did not even introduce himself. We only found out from the other couple on the tour what his name was. I believe his name was Greg.
Gregs knowledge of Dunedin was good, but he spent the whole tour talking about himself, his blogs, his opinions on almost everything and even spent time telling us about his friend at the train station, which had absolutely no relevance to the tour. He NEVER asked a single question of us eg names, where are you from, how long are you in New Zealand for etc, it really was him telling us his life story.
Really, really disappointing tour.
Greg needs major help in how to deliver his knowledge in an interesting way and this could start by beginning to ask questions and at least look interested in his audience!

Spectacular and informative walking tour of Dunedin with Gregor! He met us on time, took us around to popular and off-the-beaten path spots, and had countless stories and tales about the fascinating history of Dunedin. Gregor was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and he was the perfect tour guide to show us the city. We highly recommend this tour with Gregor if you want to both see Dunedin and learn about it’s history!

Being on foot offered the chance to absorb the history of Dunedin and its sites at leisure. Gregor had lots of knowledge to offer that one does not get on a bus. It was great to be able to discuss the history and other aspects of Dunedin life. The only drawback was that the pavements are not that wide and so it was hard to hear all he had to offer as we walked.

As residents of Edinburgh, Scotland we found this tour particularly interesting due to the early settlement of the Scots in the area. Lolene was very personable & knowledgeable and brought the history alive.
