This journey begins where our friendly Maori host will collect guests from their selected accommodation within Rotorua and will be escorted to their first destination the historic Ohinemutu Village which is situated on the shores of Lake Rotorua. Here the guests will be invited to the sacred village of Ohinemutu to learn first hand about the customs, protocols, history and legends of this significant region.
Guests have the opportunity to ask intimate questions about us as a Maori, but more importantly they are able to learn how the past influences our future as modern Maori in society today.

Following on from this 1 hour interactive experience at Ohinemutu Village guests will depart for Mitai Maori Village nestled at the foot of our sacred mountain “Ngongotaha”.

Marvel at the crystal clear water full of eels and trout flowing directly from the earth at the sacred “Fairy Spring”.
Entertaining: Be captivated by songs, dances and games in a rich powerful entertaining cultural concert, complete with the spine tingling “Haka” Maori war dance.
Educational: View the uplifting of the hangi from the earth cooked oven (Hangi Pit) in the ground and learn the preparation and contents of the traditional hangi. Learn the art of Ta Moko (tattoo), Maori customs, Musical instrument, Poi dance (Ball on the end of a string), Carving, Flora and fauna and the medicinal uses and learn of our glow worm and the sacred freshwater spring.
