- 859TK0 contributionsLong Day but worth itEarly pick up in Auckland from our hotel with our first stop being Hobbiton, we were able to get some coffee and light breakfast before our tour to Hobbiton. Our group got split up between two different tours times while at Hobbiton, which I thought was odd since we were waiting either on the front end or back end for everyone to complete the tour. We should have stayed as one group. We were on the first tour, had a great time learning and exploring the set, after the tour we got a complimentary drink, then off to the lunch buffet. Lunch was very good with a good variety of choices for all dietary needs. We did wait around for about 40 mins after our lunch for the 2nd tour group to finish their lunch. We then rushed off to head to Waitomo caves with a short stop for ice cream, had my first hokey pokey and it was delicious. I was hooked and ate it all through NZ. At the caves, we did a short tour of the cave then boarded a boat to float our way to the glow worms. Spent about an hour at the caves. Afterwards, we switched drivers and headed to Rotorua with a stop at a swinging bridge near the hydro power plan. While it was a long day, there were enough breaks during the day to get out of the van/bus and stretch. We enjoyed our time and would recommend if you need a transfer to Rotorua or just a day trip from Auckland.Written 22 December 2024

- denisebN5245TJ0 contributionsAwesome Day!We are now home but I wanted to say, on behalf of our group of 8 people, we'd like to say a big "Thank you to Philippa Dean" for coming down to the Restaurant in Auckland, to take our money and make the reservations for us to the Rotorua & Hobbiton. It was a Very Enjoyable Day for us ALL! We have to say "Darryl" was SUCH A PLEASURE to have as our 1. Driver and 2. Such a Knowledgeable Guide and Excited to inform us all of how proud he is of his Country. He told us a lot of things both up and back for our 2 tours, 12 1/2 hour Day. We just wanted you to know how comfortable we were in the Vehicle, our stop for a bite to eat at "The Ally Cat", his information during the whole day was amazing! We will definitely recommend your company for anyone going to Auckland, New Zealand. Bradshaw's, Donohue's, Wardle's and Bellerive's.Written 26 October 2024
- elizabethgU7517QA0 contributionsThe most amazing day!! Redwood tree walk and geysers!!We chose the Redwood forests tree climb along with the geysers! It was a beautiful walk through the redwoods. We then had a tour of the Maori Art Institute, saw the Kiwi bird, and enjoyed a spectacular lunch overlooking the geysers. After lunch we toured the bubbling mud and geysers. They are amazing! I didn’t want to leave! Our tour guide, Daryl, was the most knowledgeable guide! He shared the history of New Zealand with us, showed us the silver ferns, and provides us with the best day we could have ever asked for!! If you do this tour, be sure to request Daryl as your guide!!Written 11 October 2024
- M6320QC_0 contributionsWai o tapuSpecial sights , an enjoyable day, full of amazing colors: starting with Ladi Knox Geyser, than astonising colors of the geothermal area in waiotapu ( along with the distinctive smell :-) ), Huka falls and lake Taupo. Our guide- Sandra- was very proffessional, made the tour enlightening and fun, paid attention and accordingly adjusted the tour to our specific group needs, and made the day most enjoyable.Written 29 September 2024
- ruoyuy20240 contributionsPerfect experience to Rotorua and WaitomoThe trip to Waitapu and Waitomo is so great and definitely worth the price. Hermes and Edson help us with everything. Hermes shows us every beautiful scenery while on our way. Something interesting about diary cows and sheep and the nature. Edson takes us to the Waitomo trip and drive us back to Auckland. Waitomo is something you never want to miss. We also visit a dam somewhere in the nearby town, which is so beautiful! Recommend!Written 29 September 2024

This tour was fantastic. Everything was run in a timely and professional manner. Edson drove us on the way to Rotorua. He had the right combination of informing us without talking continuously. Louise who drove us on the way back the following day was terrific—good-naturedly entertained 2 small children on the return.
All sites chosen were greatly enjoyed by us. We were happy to let Flexitours handle the logistics and driving to experience such wonderful sites.

FlexitoursNZ gave us the best service concerning our trip/tour to Rotorua. Everything worked ok and beyond the expectations. They accomplished and arranged all our requirements, so we had the best experience in this trip from Aukland to Rotorua for 2 days. If you have any doubt or inquiries, they answer the telephone and e-mails immediately. The drivers/guides, all of them, were amazing, and they drive very carefully. We visited 5 attractions, all of them wonderfull. This is really an excellent agency, and we recommend to everybody that come to NZ to get its tours.

What an amazing experience!
My specific tour was two days long so it was an overnight and many, many details. The owner, Phillipa, was completely on point with making sure I got to the many points I needed to get to.
The gentleman who drove us there was phenomenal individual. Conversation, conviviality, humor, manners, and most of all safety.
In a country thousands of miles from home with no one, I knew, I have to say I felt completely taken care of from point a to point Z l, as if I were around my family!

FlexiTours is amazing! Philippa planned the most wonderful 2day experience for us that exceeded expectations. We were picked up from our Airbnb and transported down to Hobbiton then did Te Puia for a terrific lunch & tour of the Kiwis/Geyser/cultural Māori. Night activity was Mitai village. Our hotel was Jet Park which was great! Clean room good breakfast. Day 2 was Canopy zip line tour, Polynesian Spa then Glow worm cave. There is no way we could have planned to do all of this on our own FlexiTours was able to coordinate all the transportation and enable us to really experience Rotorua and all it has to offer. Don’t hesitate to book with FlexiTours they are amazing. All the transport vans were clean spacious and the drivers were perfect! The drivers explained things along the drive & Filip stayed in contact with us to ensure we were having a good time. Thanks to Philippa, Vic, Dallas! You made our trip fabulous.

2-days to remember! FlexiTours made it possible to give us an unforgettable trip, with all sorts of cultural insights. Māori concert with dinner was an incredible experience. Our trip even included a trip to Orakei Korako on day two. Thank you Andy, Zane and Kelly for your great guidance.

Note Our tour was customized 3 day tour:
Right from our first communication with FlexiTours, I knew this was going to be an awesome tour. We were very impressed with Philippa's immediate responses to our requests for information for a customized 3 days / 2 nights tour roundtrip from Auckland to Rotorua with stops at Hobbiton and Waitomo glow worm caves. We simply provided a list of what we wanted to do and see, and it was all put together by FlexiTours.
When we arrived in Auckland we visited FlexiTours office to make final payment. Tui in the office took the time to explain the tour from start to finish. We had a free afternoon that same day and Tui was able to book us on a half-day Auckland city tour. Perfect!
The drivers to and from Rotorua, Vic and Fran, were wonderful and very knowledgeable with all of the answers to our many questions along the way. These drivers, Auckland - Rotorua and return, are on a tight schedule. As a courtesy to others, don't be late for your pickup times.
David, our driver during our time in Rotorua, was also very knowledgeable, made a slight adjustment to our tours in Rotorua so that we would have time to visit the Polynesian Spa, and made us feel very special as it seemed that most of the time we had our own personal chauffeur!
The hotel was included and we were originally told that we would stay in the Sudima, however this was changed to a smaller hotel, Jet Park, which was perfect for us! The staff there made us feel like family and upon arrival they came to our room with us to ensure that we had everything we needed. The included breakfast was impressive and top quality. There were no cooked items but plenty of options. We walked over to the Sudima and so happy that we did not stay in such a big hotel.
Upon return to Auckland we wanted to go directly to our hotel near the airport. FlexiTours do not drop off at hotels outside Auckland CBD, however Philippa arranged for us to be dropped off just off the highway with another vehicle waiting to take us to our hotel for a small additional cost.
Not to be missed: Hobbiton, Matai Maori Concert and Dinner, Wai-o-Tapu thermal wonderland
I would highly recommend FlexiTours

I went through Viator tours and they used flexitoursNZ. Excellent service. On time, knowledgeable, friendly and flexible. A great combination for a tour company. I highly recommend the Mitai performance and dinner, best cultural show I have ever seen. All of the activities were of high quality and spending overnight was a good way to stretch out the activities. Excellent all around

We just completed a 2-night 3-day "Hobbiton and everything but the kitchen sink" FlexiToursNZ excursion. What a fantastic experience! Our family of four was in good hands with FlexiTours. We simply hopped aboard our comfortable van and enjoyed the ride, grateful to avoid the challenge of driving on the other side of the road and able to enjoy the scenery out the windows, stress-free. Our driver from Auckland to Hobbiton and Rotorura, Louise, entertained us with her deep knowledge of the region all along the ride down, answering each question we lobbed at her, even through a rainstorm. The weather was perfect by the time we reached Hobbiton, and Louise took care to give us crystal clear directions on when and where to meet her at the end. In Rotorura, she tossed in a short side trip to a historic bath house and the lake before our next destination, Te Puia geothermal park, and a delicious buffet lunch. FlexiTours set up our overnight accommodation at Jet Park hotel and was precisely on time to pick us up the next morning, for a full day of geothermal adventures. On day two of our tour, we were driven by Cathy and treated to her local knowledge. We visited a bubbling mud pot, a rushing waterfall, a stunning geothermal park--Waiotapu--and a lakeside town where we enjoyed lunch with a view. Noticing how much we loved the first geothermal park, Cathy added a side trip to a smaller park, which ended up being a highlight of our day. Day three of our tour was rainy, but we were in excellent hands with Edson, who drove us over rolling, sheep-dotted hills in a rainstorm with utter confidence. Our visit that day to Waitomo Caves was not to be missed! A stunning display of nature's wonders as we floated in darkness and silence under a ceiling of glowing bioluminescence. The mood aboard our FlexiTours vans was friendly and convivial, and we felt safe and welcomed. I have only glowing things to say about FlexiTours. They made travel easy!

The Hobbiton and Waitamo caves tours were great. Te Puia was a really great experience as well. However, the two day tour was too much of the same thing. It was nice to see the geothermal activity and Rotorua, but we could have completed the tour of Te Puia quicker than the 2-3 hours they gave us. Also we saw some of the same sites of Rotorua with different tour guides and the Wai-O-Tapu tour was a lot of the same sites (for the undiscerning traveller) as Te Puia. Flexi was on time an efficient.

Hi,
Thank you for taking the time to write your review.
Alot of Rotorua is all about the thermal areas, the geysers mud pools etc and it can feel like the same thing however a lot of these areas are very different in how they were created and how they were used back in the day.
Glad to hear our drivers were time efficient a lot of our tours are on a very tight time scheduled and require a lot of pre planning in order to achieve so many activities into one day tours and overnight tours.
Safe travels,
Daniel

My review is mixed.
Pros
Initial communication was responsive via email.
They were willing to build a trip per my requests which I appreciated.
Some drivers were informative, friendly and interesting - I think I had 5 different drivers in 2 days.
Cons
Other drivers were not interesting or they drove too fast or took you around to non interesting places
The communication about my itinerary (which was somewhat complicated) was lacking. There was no detail in it. For example I was going to the spa and had no idea how long I would be there, when I would go nor if I had time to change at my hotel before I went. That evening they sent a cab driver to pick me up for one of my activities when I was supposed to be on the Mercedes small bus vans- luckily the cab driver was delightful but I felt a bit vulnerable as a single older woman. I had 2 days with flexi and the first driver seemed clueless about what I was doing. I was confused and anxious when he said he was taking another person to Hobbiton and I was going elsewhere -as I had signed up for Hobbitown I was concerned! The good news is I got there the next day but I needlessly worried I wasn’t going to see it. They also rushed me when I got there - I had about 5 minutes to explore the gift shop! I could have been picked up earlier and had more time.

Hi!
We are a French couple and we would very much join a group to do the tour from this saturday the 7th of March.
We have a 8-months son who is adorable.
Unfortunately, I read that this tour was unconvenient for children under 2 years old.
I wish you could allow us.
Otherwise, would you be so kind as to let me know the price of the private tour?
Thanks
Antoine

Hi, when does the tour finish in Waitomo, as might want to stay in Rotorua? Thanks!
Written 29 December 2018
If you are doing the 2 day tour, the first day will end in Rotorua and you will spend the evening and the first half of the second day there. The tour company will pick you around 1PM on day 2 and take you to Waitomo before heading back to Auckland.
