Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:

- Wander225768311260 contributionsBeautiful BrunyFantastic views of Bruny Island! Travelled with my Mom to kick start the new year. We enjoyed the ferry ride to Bruny Island with amazing water vistas, the sea was calm and the seascapes were charming. Loved the Bruny Island Honey with the cute and busy little bees. Tried a variety of honey and bought some home as well. Took heaps of photos on top of The Neck Lookout, was very worth it climbing the top of the hill. Spent some time walking along the beach of the serene Adventure Bay and rejuvenating our nature spirit under the tree canopies of Mavista Walking Track. I found this walk quite intimate, relaxing and peaceful with all the flora and fauna surrounding us. We then headed for lunch at the Hotel Bruny. The driver advised us ahead of time to book and order online, which was very efficient as our food arrived on time. Generous serving of the parmigiana chicken. Headed to a hidden beach with heaps of warm, clear pools. I explored the small pools towards the sea and found tons of nice bathing areas, with warm waters. Found some small little crabs which added to the fun. A short walk uphill the Bruny Lighthouse area have jaw dropping vistas of cliffs, bushes and white sandy beaches. Along the rough road of Lighthouse road, our bus had a wheel blowout potentially contributed by the rough terrain. Our driver was quick to act in mitigating the issue, he was very professional, ensured our safety and in no time another shuttle arrived dropping us at the cheese shop before our replacement shuttles arrived. We got free refreshments from the cheese shop courtesy of Tassie Tours. Our drivers are all professional, level headed, knowledgeable and fun to be with. Will definitely book from Tassie Tours again. Very recommended tour itineraries and responsible tour company.Written 12 January 2025

- Vicki F0 contributionsGood small group tour.Great tour on small bus so not so much time spent getting on and off. Tour guide interesting and knowledgeable but oddly kept repeatedly mentioning a few people’s names on tour as if he was talking to them personally.Written 11 January 2025
- marionwV6144TH0 contributionsWhat an enjoyable day!Great day trip to beautiful Bruny Island. Our local guide, Peter W, was very knowledgeable and gave a good overview of the island.Written 11 January 2025
- Carnivali0 contributionsNice day at Bruny North & SouthNice tour to Bruny Island and more although the pick up procedure was long. Also people were always late during the day which should be monitored stronger by the guides. Our guide Bonsy was very friendly, organized, funny and informative. Unfortunately, the company's vans are old and uncomfortable, always packed with 24 people, could hardly get up-hill. The tour description was also wrong as there are no lagoons nor "secret" beaches to visit!! Anyhow I can recommend this tour and tour operator.Written 11 January 2025
- Carnivali0 contributionsGood experience!Very good tour with the must-see Port Arthur and more. Our guide Nigel was very friendly, organized and informative. The only thing to change is the van...it was old and uncomfortable, packed with 24 people, could hardly get up-hill. Dissapointing was the Lavender Farm as the Lavender is of small size, do not expect it to be like in France. I can recommend this tour and the tour operator.Written 11 January 2025
- nickiet20250 contributionsBruny Island - a busload a blown tyre and a passportGreat day out with Andrew and his bus load of tourists! How he managed to keep us all informed, entertained and on time is anyone’s guess! His knowledge and homegrown experiences made for a fun (& funny) day and his tips on good food (oysters and cherry cider were added bonuses! Towards the end of the tour, he had to leave us at a cheese outlet to save a stranded bus load, testament to his expertise and charisma, his tour group chose to wait for his return rather than take another shuttle bus 😊Written 10 January 2025
- A1230DMbenc0 contributionsA Great Overview of Hobart with A Great Tour Guide - SteveI was fortunate enough to join this tour with an unusually small group of people. My tour guide, Steve, was fantastic. He explained all sights in detail and shared a lot of his own insights. He even took me to purchase leatherwood honey! Weather was great too that day. Anyway, for this kind of tour, having a great tour guide is the key and I was lucky enough to have Steve!Written 10 January 2025
- sach1n0 contributionsGreat trip!Had a great time with Bunzy! He provided facts and history of Bruny along the way…..I would highly recommend a visit to a Bruny no matter the weather. It is a beautiful island!Written 10 January 2025

Overall we had a good day. We enjoyed the tour leader and found the van comfortable, though full and difficult to see across outside from one side to the other. Bonorong was a delight, and we greatly appreciated the effort to which our guide went to get us up to Mt Wellington between cloud covers. We did not, however, feel as though the description of what we would experience on this tour lived up to what we saw. It’s an over ambitious description with a misnamed title - something a first time traveler to the area would not necessarily understand (as we did not understand). A quick and limited city drive, then Bonorong, then a hurried lunch in Richmond followed right after by a strange add on stop at a solo cheese shop, then Mt Wellington. There was no option to do both MONA and Bonorong offered by our guide (as discussed in the itinerary), so no MONA. We are art enthusiasts so that was a disappointment. And, the market wasn’t open so no stop there either. It’s not Hobart’s five best in one day.
Not a bad way to spend limited time in Hobart but not what we expected based on the tour’s title and description.

On our Australia cruise we decided to book the Hobart Highlights Day Tour with Tassie Tours and were glad we did so. We were only a small group of 4 people and had a wonderful day. Our nice and friendly tourguide picked us up from the port on time. After an interesting city loop she took us first to the Bonorong wildlife sanctuary, then to Richmond and further up to Mount Wellington. We were lucky with the weather that day and could enjoy a magnificent view. Thanks again for the excellent tour.

This trip through Hobart was quite fantastic. Visited all the major stops, tour guide was accommodating and knowledgeable. The animal sanctuary was very fun to pet and feed the kangaroos... we even had time to stop at the Mona museum as a extra bonus .

Rodney was a great tour guide, sitting in a crammed bus, where I couldn’t see anything pointed out to me was disappointing. We didn’t get to the Cheese factory, which I was looking forward to, but due to time factor we couldn’t. Overall not a bad tour, my only suggestion was a better bus.

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour! We were picked up right on time outside the cruise terminal, then had more than enough time at the Salamanca market (our only complaint was that we had maybe too much time there and would have preferred more time elsewhere). We really enjoyed the stop at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary where we got to see all sorts of animals, including two Tassie Devils! It's a great facility and what they're doing there is awesome. After that, we were taken to Richmond for our lunch stop. We would have liked a little bit more time there to explore, but we enjoyed lunch and some wonderful ice cream. Then we went to Wicked Cheese for a very brief, but tasty, cheese tasting. Finally, we went up Mt. Wellington to see some spectacular views.
It was a great day and we highly recommend this tour for anyone stopping in Hobart on a cruise!

We had a fantastic day during our cruise port stop. Our guide picked us up right on time. First stop was Mount Wellington for fantastic views of the city and port. Then we toured around Hobart looking at different brick houses. Onto a drive through the country with a stop at The Wicked Cheese Co before going to Richmond. We had time for lunch in Richmond, and our guide recommended a few great spots for lunch. The Richmond Bakery is worth the long line up! We toured the Richmond Gaol Historic Site on our own before joining our guide. Our guide then took us to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary where we fed the kangaroos. They are very friendly and eager to eat from your hand. This was a wonderful day full of different sights of Hobart. Sorry I can't remember our guide's name, but he was outstanding.

Great itinerary and driver/guide. Lutka was very knowledgeable and passionate about Tasmania. He offered great info and interesting stories to complement our tour itinerary which included Bonorong, Richmond, and Mr. Wellington as well as Hobart highlights. Thanks for a great shore excursion.

Tour Guide didn’t give us a lot of information, and when we asked for more he seemed annoyed. Tour guide trainee was chatting with people in the back the whole time disrupting the tour. Spent way too much time circling the city in the bus, would have preferred getting off with free time.

This was an awesome tour - and the main reason was Mark our driver / guide. He was awesome / personable / friendly / very very knowledgeable. I will say the Bonrong Sanctuary was great - feeding kangaroos, the animal handlers were great answering questions/ you could tell they loved their job. However, if you have a mobility issue - this would be a hard tour. The walkway was uneven and rocky.

The tour was very satisfactory until we visited the Bonorong Sanctuary at the end of the tour. This was a pay entry in addition to the tour cost. I have no idea why we went there, it cost $29.50!each and was an insult to our intelligence. It was a decrepit over priced experience. Few animals other than a few kangaroos that were fly ridden, a cockatoo and another animal that we couldnt identify. A disgrace that Tassie Tours included it in our tour package and given it was an extra, not sure why they bothered, it was a disgrace.

Hi there,
We are sorry to hear about your experience with us.
On all products, it states what is included and excluded + the cost
While we cannot control what the animals do and when they sleep we are sorry to hear that there were few animals to be viewed. Bonorong is a highlight to see local Tasmanian animals and has been a great stop for locals and tourists for many years.
We hope you enjoyed the rest of your cruise.
Kind Regards,
Tassie Tours

Why is there no mentioning of MONA in the itinerary (under WHAT to EXPECT), also when the day is not a saturday, where the Salamanca Market is not opened, what do we do as an alternative?

I'm trying to book a tour in Hobart for Jan 2020, but no dates are available from June 2019-Jan 2020. I see above that there is a +1 (855) telephone number, but not sure that is a free call from the US. Is there an email contact for Tassie Tours? Thanks in advance.
Written 13 May 2019
I do not believe that it is a toll free number that you have. My experience with the calendars are that if they do not show availability, it is either because the date is too far out OR there is no availability.
